“Was super happy with our dinner at Hippo. Every dish was delicious. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower starters had excellent flavors. All the pastas we tried had incredible depth of flavor without being overly heavy or greasy. The hippo rolls and table focaccia were excellent and the chicken thighs were to die for. Only thing that was lackluster was the passion fruit gelato. Fun vibe, lots of seating, and great service!”

His cocktails were perfect, like a wizard dishing out magic (I had a second cocktail which I rarely do ☺️). The food was equally good. The home made tofu melted in your mouth. The tuna, uni appetizer was delicate with a dash of wasabi. The heirloom tomato salad was fresh, succulent, and delicious. ? The jidori chicken was so flavorful. Overall it was a perfect meal. “The signature dish is the crab in sauce, which comes in medium and large sizes. medium is two crabs with two bowls of rice, and large is three crabs. Compared with other Korean restaurants, the sauce crab taste is mild, and it will not be salty enough to explode in the middle of the meal and cannot continue to eat. The crab is fresh, not fishy, and the meat is firm, not squishy. The crab meat is also very full, the crab legs are full, there is no empty shell crab. The sea urchin rice is a little smaller but the sea urchin is enough. regular sea urchins are not particularly sweet, but they are fresh and worth the price. The sea urchin Rice bowl combo will be served with steamed eggs, runny eggs and two prawns in sauce. Raw marinated salmon rice is amazing to me. The salmon is marinated just enough to be flavorful, but not overly salty. The portions are generous. You can eat two bites of each piece of salmon.”

Had some bubbly and snacks before heading to KCRW Summer Nights in Chinatown. “I have dined at Meteora many times before and it's usually been excellent however the night that we went, the timing of the courses was notably off and delayed. The couple next to us got there right before and another couple 2 tables down got there after us and they were both 2 entire courses ahead of us. The entire meal lasted 3 hours due to this. There was plenty of staff - we saw staff constantly circulating so I have no idea what happened. When I said something, they were apologetic and offered us more drinks on the house, which I did appreciate, however, I really wasn't planning on such a long dining experience and disliked that we were essentially forgotten for the first half of our time there.”

“Pretty much the greatest taco stand in the city. Their salsa is fantastic and pretty spicy, but you can wash it down with an horchata. You can’t go wrong with any of their meats. Clearly they’re know. For their carnitas, the al pastor and asada are fantastic as well. An LA treasure.

Also, eating there is an experience because you never know who’s gonna be eating there or just the random walking in the eating area, yelling “whaaaaaaaa!” And then just walking out as easily as that. Love this place.”

Oh my gosh, it was divine! The uni was so fresh and creamy and the pasta itself was cooked just right. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. We also tried the baked lasagna and it was delightful. The layers were perfectly balanced and each bite was full of rich, savory flavors. Let's not forget dessert! We shared a few different things and they were all great. The tiramisu was fluffy and decadent and the chocolate mousse was rich and smooth. Overall, Angelini Osteria is definitely a must-try for Italian food lovers in Los Angeles. “Totally worth the 70 minute drive. Delicious food and great Taiwanese hospitality. Friendly, attentive staff and wonderful atmosphere. Minced Pork (Lu-Rou) Rice, fully loaded delicious stewed pork with egg. Meats are juicy and tender, kinda on the sweet side. Clamshell bun (Gua Bao) comes with tender thick cut pork, a bit on the salty side, but very well cooked. Fatty but not greasy. Thousand layer pancake with egg and basil was crispy and flaky. The basil flavor is a wonderful addition. Scallion bread sandwich was what we expected. Same tender thick cut pork, very happy to eat this. Next time I will probably get the beef, too much pork belly today Wonton soup is very classic, if you like shrimp wontons, you have to try this. We ended the meal with Hakka mochi and Oolong tea, the mochi tasted just like the ones in Taiwan. The tea was fragrant and is just the perfect compliment to the mochi. Overall an amazing meal with warm and friendly people, highly recommend!”

We ordered haka noodles ( which is not in the menu but if you will ask it then they will give it to you). It was ok .

Second dish was Chicken Momos which was by far the stand out dish . There were only 6 pieces . 0 Marks for Presentation but taste wise was 4.5/5 .

Lastly , we ordered chicken tikka(boneless) which was good too. Specially with green chutney which was very yummy.

“My experience at Omakase by Osen was great! This was my first Omakase experience and will certainly not be my last. All of the courses offered for the Nagatsuki Omakase were delicious, but my favorites had to be the wagyu wrap and egg custard. The quality was great, but for the amount of food you get, $140 may not be worth it to you if you expect to be totally full after. However, I definitely value the dining experience that comes with the food so it was worth it for me. The waitresses were so attentive and even did a little extra for me since it was my birthday. I would highly recommend!”

“Anyone with a Shellfish Allergy who still loves sushi (Read This!)

My wife and I celebrated our 7yr at Sushi Takeda this last Friday. We made reservations for the Nigiri Omakase (this option had a disclaimer that they could accommodate for shellfish allergy online). I want to note that my allergy allows me to enjoy seafood while being around shellfish and really only triggers from cross contamination or consumption giving me a strong stomach discomfort and acid reflux.

Chef did a fantastic job providing me with the utmost care around my allergy. Washing hands, using a separate cutting board, cleaning knife, and even providing me with my own soy sauce and letting me know between servings which will pair to avoid cross contamination. There were substitutions made throughout, all were very enjoyable and equitable to the original course that my wife was having. I had 0 symptoms whatsoever!

The team at Sushi Takeda were all very kind and helpful throughout our dining experience. We were given a squid pairing with my glass of sake (very dry option) I had ordered which complemented each other very well, courtesy of the team at Sushi Takeda! My wife ordered a plum wine, her favorite, which if you are in the mood for something a little sweet and unique is a must-have.

Each piece of our course was intentional and handled with utmost care. Chef took the time to explain every serving throughout. The nigiri omakase was an exhibition of art and flavor with great variety and the freshest cuts of fish LA can offer!

“Deliberately hard to find from the outside, refined Japanese craftsmanship inside, with just enough Los Angeles flair.

Food is superb, and if you can snag a reservation to one of the Kaneyoshi x Inaba collaboration nights, it's even better, if that's believable. The latter are not cheap (paying two chefs, each with their own Michelin star, never is), but it's so good.

The #1 option with cold cuts and Vietnamese-style meatloaf is incredibly flavorful. I might be mistaken, but I detect a lovely smoky note that elevates the entire sandwich.
The bread is truly exceptional—fresh, soft on the inside, and perfectly crunchy on the outside. It’s the ideal baguette to complement the vibrant fillings. I did a burger tour around LA last month when I was in town. This place barely made my list of the 5 places I narrowed it down to, and boy am I glad it did. It was the best burger I had during the trip.

I don't know if it's something in the beef blend they're using or if it's just the combo of grilled onions, that sauce, and those beautiful smashed patties, but it managed to be so much more than the sum of its parts. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Bravo.

When you enter the room, you’re washed over with the charm of the golden age of Hollywood. The Benjamin brings to LA something that it hasn’t had in years: a moving experience.

The cocktails are fantastic! Whether it’s that tropical fizz of The Pornstar or the magical mouthfeel of their tequila-based martini, just trust it, order it; and imbibe on their mixologists imagination.

I insist that you start with their hamachi crudo because Matsuhisa himself would be hard-pressed to serve up something this delicious.

The crab beignets are a whimsical take on the familiar (but stale) crab cake. All the familiar taste (but better) in a perfectly crispy and crunchy one-bite ball. Trust me: eat it in 1 bite.

If you’re lucky enough to have a stab at something off-menu (it was a ribeye when I went), take it. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with the burger. All the flavors. All Americana. Some cowboy. I can’t explain it…it just makes sense.

Did you go to Miami and have Papi Steak’s caviar potato and think “Dang! I wish they had this in LA!” Well have a I got news for you! The twice baked potato with caviar at The Benjamin is one of the funnest gastronomical experiences you can have!

Lastly, and perhaps…most importantly…..COOKIES AND CREAM. I’ve never seen this as a dessert option anywhere else, but after having this I can’t wrap my mind around why it’s not on every single menu. It was….and I mean this from the bottom of my heart….a revelation. I have dreamt about this. I long for this. When I get lonely and write in my diary, this is what I write about. Order it. Thank me later.

“If you're like me, you're probably looking up this place because it's the new hot cafe in LA. Modu has a lot of hype, but is it worth waiting in line and paying at least $7 per food item? I'd say yes and no.
My wife and I got to Modu around 10:30 and the line wasn't too bad, but unfortunately for us, by the time I had gotten to the front of the line, all the popular bakery items had already been sold out. We ordered the hojicha mochi muffin, ssuk pound cake, a yuja passionfruit spritz, and a matcha tonic.
The hojicha muffin was good, but not worth $6 for a muffin that size.
The ssuk pound cake was our favorite of the two. Ssuk is very much a uniquely Korean ingredient, which we both liked.
My wife liked the spritz, but was not a fan of the passionfruit seeds. She said it reminded her of giant chia seeds and did not like crunching on them haha
Initially, I wasn't a fan of the matcha tonic, but the more I drank it, the more I grew to like it. I'd recommend this drink to adventurous matcha drinkers.
I thought the ambiance of the cafe was great. The crowd inside the cafe was talkative, but not so loud that I couldn't have a conversation with my wife. I also loved how people were allowed to bring their dogs inside.
Parking is obviously going to be tough, so be ready to walk at least a block if you're not lucky.”

Only thing u have to pay for is steamed egg which is $1.99 or drinks. Water is free. I had the iced tea and thai tea to go and both were really good. Meat is good quality- I don’t like the intestines or premium brisket bc they were very chewy. I highly recommend the pork belly and beef belly, they were soooo good and easy to eat.
