“We ordered for the first time tonight from Sammy, former proprietor of JuJu’s Bagels now transformed into El Toum. We ordered 4 items and they were ready for pickup in less than 25 minutes. The Mixed Kebab platter, Kofta Burger with fries, Falafel Sandwich with extra tahini sauce, and El Toum Appetizer were refreshingly homemade, tasted delicious, and proved outstanding bangs for the buck. More than enough food for a family of four with leftovers. This is a very welcome addition to a neighborhood missing this kind of fare. I highly recommend supporting this local business. Some of the best falafel and tabouli I’ve tasted in quite some time too!”

“This food truck serves some of the heartiest momo on the streets of Jackson Heights. We got 8 thick and meaty beef momo for $8 at Amdo Kitchen. The go-to sauces here are the red sauce and white sauce. The halal momo are complimented with a thicker, chewier dough than other momos - it takes me three bites to finish each one. Upstairs Cocktail Bar 71-22 Roosevelt Ave 2nd floor, Jackson Heights Bar • $$

“They don't serve food, hence the single star in that one. I'm a married man with kids so when I do go out it's gotta be good. I prefer things low key but memorable. The bartenders were both extremely friendly and even though I'm in hospitality and know from the food and beverage staff at my hotel that substitutions can sometimes be a pain, when I asked the man to add a bit of gin to one of their mocktails, he happily obliged. They also have a great, of small, list of great craft beers. Speaking of small, this bar is in the style of a speakeasy. It feels like a place that you're not supposed to find and that's part of its charm. You go upstairs. Find the light from inside peeking through the curtain and once inside there's a bar about six stools and maybe another 10 people can sit at the shadow tables and easy chairs at the back. Again, a feature not a bug. I had a German porter that the bartender described perfectly so I knew I could trust their recommendations. I'll be back, most likely on my birthday or after the weather changes, like around Thanksgiving. It's such a special experience that I wanna save it for the good conversations with close friends. The Irish pub or the sports bar will be the weekly place but Upstairs is for three friend I haven't seen in a while or that after dinner spot when the wife and I get some time and get to enjoy some Thai, Nepali or Indonesian food nearby then we take a short walk to a plane that makes us feel young and cool again.”

“Hombres is your go to spot when you hit Jackson heights! Bartenders are so nice, the crowd is great, they have karaoke, and they play Selena!

It’s def a great alternative to the other Jackson heights gay bars that are a little more clubby and crazy. I think Hombres is much more laid back. If you’re a gringo, it’s probably a good idea to come with Latin friends if you’ve never been to a fully Latin bar, just pointing that out for the people who have left bad reviews. Not every bar will cater to Caucasians and that’s ok! Latinos need their spaces and this one one of them.”

4.2 Good130 Reviews
Nepali Bhanchha Ghar 74-15 Roosevelt Ave, Jackson Heights Himalayan/Nepalese • $

“I’ve been to Nepali Bhancha Ghar before, and this definitely won’t be my last visit. One thing I really loved this time was the buff momo. I hadn’t had good buff momo in such a long time, and these really hit the spot. It was honestly one of the highlights of my meal.

Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the duck sekuwa. I started regretting my order almost as soon as it arrived, and after trying it, I was even more disappointed. It was very dry, and I found several bones and some parts that were quite burnt. It seemed like it may have been cooked directly over a high flame rather than slowly over hot charcoal, which I think made a big difference. Sekuwa, to me, should be juicy, smoky, and well seasoned, but this was unfortunately quite dry and lacking in flavor.

What made it more disappointing was the price. I had spent about an hour and a half of my wages on this dish, so it honestly felt pretty bad to spend that much on something I didn't enjoy. I still tipped the servers because I know the preparation of the food isn't their responsibility.

Interestingly, after coming home and reading some of the other reviews, I noticed similar comments about the chicken sekuwa. One review described it as “really dry and barely having any flavor,” which was almost exactly my experience with the duck sekuwa as well.

I’m sharing this more as a suggestion than a complaint. I really like this place and would still come back for the momo and other Nepali dishes, but I genuinely think the sekuwa needs some attention. Either the preparation method could be changed significantly, or perhaps this particular dish should be reconsidered for the menu. With the right smoky, juicy, well-seasoned preparation, I think the sekuwa could be something really special.

Overall, I appreciate the restaurant and the food, and I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit it's intended — as a suggestion from someone who wants to enjoy and support the place again.”

Food Junction 74-17 Roosevelt Avenue, Jackson Heights Fast Food • $

“Tried Food Junction for the first time and honestly the food was really good. Everything tasted fresh and you can tell they cook it on the spot instead of just reheating food. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly, the rice had a lot of flavor, and the fries were crispy too. The portions were good and the food came out hot and fresh.

What I liked most is that they have a little bit of everything. Pizza, burgers, platters, drinks, fries, and all kinds of food, so there’s something for everyone. Plus everything is halal which makes it even better. Definitely a spot worth trying if you want fresh food with good flavor and decent portions.”

Sunday Supper LaGuardia Airport, Queens Terminal C, Jackson Heights Italian • $$

“Having gotten Wendy's for over 5 years in this location, I have finally decided to try Sunday supper for breakfast.

Is the 20 dollar breakfast sandwich + potatoes good enough value to beat out Wendy's? For the quantity you can get at Wendy's, it's not even close.

The quality is more up to debate. The eggs are fresh and generous in the sandwich. The aiole is decent but a bit stingily applied. The english muffin isn't toasted (maybe that needs to be specified?) The bacon is acceptablely good.

The potatoes are fresh with some chives thrown in which I appreciate. They taste good and are probably a little healthier than the Wendy's fries.

Overall the sandwich is obviously not worth 20 outside the airport however it is healthier than Wendy's which is a selling point as it uses less processed ingredients and are less oil saturated.”

Elements Pizzeria 83-01 Northern Blvd, Jackson Heights Pizza • $

“Elements Pizzeria is a neighborhood pizza shop that stands out by focusing on naturally fermented sourdough pizza rather than traditional New York slices. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere with an open, clean dining room that feels equally suited for a casual lunch, dinner with friends, or family outing. While pizza is the main attraction, the menu also includes Detroit-style pies, appetizers, salads, desserts, and a selection of drinks, giving you plenty of options beyond a standard slice shop.

The sourdough pizza is the biggest reason to visit. The naturally fermented dough develops a light, airy crust with a crisp exterior and slightly chewy interior that gives the pizza more depth of flavor than a typical crust. The toppings feel thoughtfully selected, with combinations like mushroom and ricotta alongside more traditional options, allowing both classic and specialty pizzas to stand out. If you are looking for something different, the Detroit-style pizza is also worth trying, offering a thicker, airy crust with crispy edges that contrasts nicely with the restaurant's round sourdough pies.

The menu goes beyond pizza with items like garlic knots, baked wings, salads, and desserts, making it easy to build a complete meal. I also liked that the restaurant serves freshly prepared coffee and a variety of beverages, so it feels more like a full-service restaurant than a grab-and-go pizzeria. The variety makes it easy to visit with a group since there are enough options for different tastes.

The atmosphere was one of the highlights during my visit. The space feels bright, clean, and inviting, and the staff were friendly throughout the experience. Elements also hosts pizza-making classes and private events, which adds another layer to the restaurant and makes it feel more connected to the local community rather than simply being a place to grab a meal.

The only thing to keep in mind is that specialty sourdough pizzas are priced a little higher than your average neighborhood pizzeria. While I felt the quality and preparation justified the price, it may not be the place if you are simply looking for the cheapest slice. During busy periods, pizzas can also take a little longer since they are made fresh to order.

Overall, Elements Pizzeria is a great choice if you are looking for pizza that goes beyond the traditional New York style. The naturally fermented sourdough crust, quality ingredients, welcoming atmosphere, and unique menu make it feel like more of a destination restaurant than a typical pizza shop. It is the kind of place I would return to when I want a thoughtfully made pizza rather than just a quick bite.”
