“I’ve been to Felix multiple times over the years, and in general, I think it’s a fantastic restaurant with consistently high-quality food. That’s why this review is disappointing to write.

The last two pasta dishes I’ve ordered have been underwhelming. My previous visit, the carbonara fell short, and this time the cacio e pepe was even more disappointing.

The cacio e pepe was overwhelmingly peppery, lacked the rich, creamy Pecorino Romano flavor that defines the dish, and tasted like it had little to no cheese. It was nothing like a proper cacio e pepe should be. I had just returned from Italy a few weeks ago, where I ate authentic cacio e pepe at small local trattorias, so I know exactly how beautifully simple and balanced this dish can be. Unfortunately, Felix’s version completely missed the mark. Considering the restaurant’s reputation and premium prices, I expected much more.

To make matters worse, the service at the bar was disappointing. Not once during the meal did anyone ask how the food was or whether everything was okay. A simple check-in could have given us the opportunity to share our concerns while we were there.

I genuinely hope the team takes this feedback constructively because Felix is still a great restaurant overall, and I’ve had many excellent meals here. That’s exactly why these last two visits have been so surprising. I hope they address these issues and bring the pasta back to the standard that made Felix such a standout in the first place.”

“I took my husband for Father’s Day brunch/lunch at our favorite Italian restaurant here in the Palisades and as always it did not disappoint. It never does. He loved his steak and eggs, steak was Devine and I loved my chick pea soup. Always have the panne cotta and the cherry gelato and an espresso in their delightful patio and you’ve been to Italy!”

“Brought some friends there to watch playoff football and a ufc fight. Ended up having the best filet mignon of my life. So tender you could slice through it with the side of your fork. Had fresh oysters from Virginia, which I was told are only $2 on Tuesday or Wednesday (have to fact check here). And probably the best thing on the menu is the bacon wrapped plantains, not a lot of food, but every bite is heaven. Wife loved her fancy drinks, but I prefer scotch.”

“I’ve been wanting to check this place out for years. It was absolutely worth it. The staff were warm and welcoming, and took the time to explain the wines and dishes in depth, despite an absolutely packed house.

If you have to wait for a table, consider yourself lucky. Getting to hang out with other patrons with a view of the sunset, enjoying the chatter and ambiance and cozy lighting — it was spectacular. I’ve only felt a street scene so neighborly and welcoming like this in Europe! They really do an excellent job with the outdoor eating and drinking.

“Best restaurant I've been to ever that understands and caters to Celiac, but is so good you can actually bring people who are not gluten-free and they would never know they were eating gluten-free. I was in LA for a week and ate there 3 nights. I would have gone more but they're closed on Monday and Tuesdays. “Force of Nature is one of the cutest little places I’ve ever stopped for a drink. From the moment we walked in, it felt warm, inviting, and effortlessly charming.

The rooftop terrace is the perfect mix of laid-back and cozy, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a long, hot day. I especially loved the community table—it added so much character and made the space feel welcoming and connected.

The drinks were fantastic: strong enough to know they were crafted well, but perfectly balanced and incredibly delicious. The wines leaned on the fruitier side, which made them easy to enjoy without being overly sweet.

What really made the experience stand out, though, was the bartender, who also seemed to be the hostess and waitress. She was genuinely kind, welcoming, and made everyone feel at home. She had the kind of personality that makes you wish she’d sit down and have a drink with you.

The entire vibe of Force of Nature is relaxed, friendly, and unpretentious. It’s the kind of place where you intend to stop for one drink and end up staying for hours because you simply don’t want to leave. I can’t wait to come back.”

“This place was exceptional. Tucked inside Dudley Market right along the water, it transforms into a coffee shop during the day. I walked in and there was a warm familial vibe between everyone. And a great DJ. Seems like a neighborhood staple. It was just one barista operating the shop, he opened this place four years ago and clearly cares deeply about the craft of coffee!! He was thoughtful and said the quality of beans and where/how they were sourced was important to him. He even sells the beans in vintage VHS movie tapes. The drinks were excellent. I ordered the Cafe Rico. Warm, bold, rich coffee with a hint of orange, vanilla and a thick frothy top sprinkled with cacao. Amazing. No modifications, which feels like the artistry. You drink as it’s intended. I ended up grabbing a cappuccino as well bc my first drink was so impressive and I’d heard rave reviews about this spot. I noticed online there were poor reviews about him specifically being a jerk but he was lovely to me! We had really nice conversation. Little sassy but in a fun way. Like when I ordered the cafe Rico he was like “okay be basic then”. Which I thought was funny. Will definitely be coming back. Can’t wait to try more drinks. Thanks Nicely!! xx”

“Went to coucou with a friend to celebrate my birthday. This is on Main Street and there's parking on thr street and there's an underground parking lot on Navy with great service and a flat rate of $9/hr.

The place is small and I went around 6pm so right after happy hour so it was a bit loud but it calmed down after. There is a 3 for $33 deal that is pretty amazing for happy hour. Pretty much all the appetizers. You are allowed to pick 1 drink and 2 food items. I got the classic aperol, it had a little too much aperol for my taste but still good and refreshing.

We got the Zucchini bingets and they were tasty, cheesy. Almost like a fritter but not so much. Also got the fries as well. They were good.

I got the mussels marinere with the coconut cream sauce and honestly I love when places offer mussels in a different kind of sauce than just white wine and garlic. The toast was perfection. My friend got the grilled chicken Paillard and she liked it, came with a side of red sauce. I'll be back for the happy hour to try the apps with seafood. I didn't get w chance to since my friend doesn't eat it. They even gave me a the chocolate mousse with a candle.”

We had the Caprese and the Veggie and clearly we could have shared one sandwich as we ended up having half and then having the other half for dinner at home.

For five dollars extra you can upgrade and include a drink and a bag of potato chips. Very good food, the bread was fresh out of the oven and the ingredients were amazing.

Outside seating in a nice shaded patio. I definitely recommend.”

They were so fun, lots of laughs, and knowledgeable about the menu. Emma actually remembered my drink order from a previous visit, which was super sweet and surprising. I was also greeted by a manager, Tom, who was very friendly as well. The food, 11/10. I live for the tempura vegetables, tuna handroll, the island rock cod. The filet mignon is the most tender, tastiest filet you'll ever have. Trendy place, the ambiance is just as great as the food and service. Highly recommend for a nice bite before a flight out of LAX or a night out with friends. No notes.”

“We had dinner reservations at 7:45. On a Friday night. We were sat immediately but at the most inhospitable table in the restaurant. They should be ashamed of themselves to put a table inline of the waitstaff that literally went past us the entire time. I've never been sat at such a terrible table in my life. Normally I would have just said I'd wait for another table but my daughter was really hungry. In addition to that, they were incessantly grabbing plates off our table when I was still literally eating my food. I had to stop them several times. And then they came with the machine in hand to ask if I wanted anything g else and then proceeded to give me the bill. I didn't ask for the bill but they decided when I needed to get it. Mind you, there were no more people waiting for tables so the rush to move us off of our table was unfounded. Every table around us were still sitting and enjoying each others company except for us. I am more than livid at the waitstaff's pushiness and they need to be trained better.”

“I recently ordered catering from Lokal Venice and it was such a great experience. The place itself is super cute, the interior is really well put together and just beautiful to look at.

This was my first time ordering catering from them, and it was a total success. Everything was delivered right on time, and the presentation was amazing. I ordered burritos and asked them to cut them in half, which made everything look extra neat and organized, perfect for a group setting.

I had quite a few dietary restrictions to accommodate since this was for a Teacher Appreciation Day at a school (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, egg allergies, dairy-free) and they handled everything so well. The communication was easy, they responded quickly to emails, and made the whole process stress-free.

On top of all that, they even let me take their insulated bags to make it easier to transport everything, they just asked me to return them later. I thought that was such a thoughtful and helpful touch.

I 1000% recommend them, and I’ll definitely be ordering from them again for my next catering!”

For two people, we ordered 4 al pastor, 2 cabeza (head), and 1 lengua (tongue) - all were amazing. Plus the toppings (onion, cilantro, lime, pickled veggies, radish, and salsa) are all self-serve so you can load up. Watch out because one of the salsas is tasty but painfully spicy 🥵 😅.

“Even on a quiet night, Roosterfish had a magnetic charm that immediately drew us in. The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a vibrant, thoughtfully curated space that felt both playful and inviting—like the kind of neighborhood bar where good times are always just around the corner. The decor popped with personality, and despite the low turnout, there was an unmistakable energy lingering in the air, hinting at the lively scene this place must host when it’s in full swing.

There were only a handful of people there, so it was clear the bartender was having a quiet shift, which is completely understandable. That said, it would have been nice to have a little more interaction. Most of the time he seemed occupied with her phone rather than engaging with the guests. A little conversation or check-in would have elevated the experience.

On the bright side, the drinks were excellent. I ordered the seasonal Pimm’s Cup, and it was absolutely delicious—refreshing, well-balanced, and perfect for a warm evening.

I’m chalking our visit up to the timing, because everything about Roosterfish suggests it truly comes alive when the crowd rolls in. The drinks and atmosphere alone were enough to hook us, and I can’t shake the feeling that we only caught a glimpse of what this place has to offer. We’re already looking forward to coming back on a buzzing night to experience it at full energy.”

“Had an outstanding night watching Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express at the Venice West. Venice West is an intimate venue with a perfect layout for live performances. Dinner was enjoyable and the staff was helpful and friendly. Now for the main event... Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express put on a heck of show. The band was tight and rocked the house. Every song was a hit and our group was blown away. Thanks for making great music! Looking forward to returning again for another memorable evening of great music and food.”

We first walked by this little shop and it was a little hard to find due to the store being inside the Gingerbread court but it was well worth it!! We were going to get 2 spicy bowls but the owner recommended we do the lomo bowl and the spicy tuna bowl. GREAT recommendation!! We will be going back when we visit again. “I took the risk yesterday and went to pop-up BBQ joint APL. They were working out of a restaurant in Marina Del Rey, so I thought reluctantly to give them a shot. I knew they were expensive and likely not the “traditional” BBQ quality that I grew up with in L.A. I’d seen on social media that APL Barbecue almost always sold out, so I arrived 2 hours early. No one was in sight. I thought I’d gone to the wrong location. I looked around and saw 5 large pallets of fire wood stacked up in the rear of the building. Had to be for the smokers I thought. This must be the right place. I was just super early. About 30 minutes later I noticed 4 pillars of smoke coming up from behind the hedges in the patio area. I failed to look there before and walked over to find 4 large BBQ smokers at work. They were being attended by an African American gentleman. He seemed to know what he was doing. I started feeling a bit better on the potential quality of APL’s BBQ upon seeing this brutha handling the cooking. This was my opportunity to maybe find out the truth about APL’s suitability to my discerning taste buds. I walked over to him and said, “Bruh, lemme holla at you a minute. I’m new to APL and want to get your read on the BBQ. You know that there’s a difference between what some people call good BBQ, and what you or me might consider good Q.” He gave me a wry smile and a knowing nod. I knew he understood what I was cryptically saying. He asked about my regional knowledge of BBQ, from which I explained my preferences for North Carolina, and Texas styles of Q. He said it was more like Texan BBQ, which happens to be my favorite. He said that APL was the “real deal”. I was feeling good and hungry now. They opened the doors at 12:30 pm. A kid started passing out cornbread samples. I happily took one. I’m as critical of the sides as I am with my Q. Cornbread is rarely great and mostly just ok of from most BBQ joints. I took a bite. It was moist and very good with a honey taste but not too sweet. Kind of a cornbread-cake combo. Another very good sign! When I got to the front of the order line, the Bruh offered me a sample of the pork ribs. I took a bite. It was spot on. Had a nice light tug but was very tender and easy to pull off the bone. I couldn’t ID the flavor profile, but liked it a lot. I ended up buying 1 beef rib bone, 1 rack of pork ribs, and some cornbread for a total cost of $150. More than enough for 2 people for a couple of days or so. The beef rib was the best I’d ever had. Tasted more like a very good brisket. The pickle relish was outstanding. I wish I could buy it in a store or better yet get the recipe. Needless to say as a BBQ skeptic and traditionalist, that APL is real and highly recommended even with their high prices. I’m told they will be back in MDR at the same spot next weekend. It’s located Washington Bl. & Abbot Kinney. Go on Sunday when they will also sell smoked cowboy ribeye steaks. I’m told the rack of lamb is also outstanding. Before I walked away with my heavy bag of Q, I saw the the brutha I’d spoken to earlier chopping up some meat. It was loud and crowded in the restaurant. I spoke loudly in a manner I knew would get his attention and said, “Bruh! You were right. Thanks!” He smiled and responded back with the “brutha nod”.”

“Good service, casual atmosphere. We had brunch. Brunch special is $20, including one brunch option (a variety of egg and other breakfast dishes) and a brunch cocktail. The regular menu was offered as well. The potatoes and tzatziki was delicious. Valet parking is $10.”

“I had an excellent cortado at Flo Coffee Bar. I was recommended this spot by Jack from Endorffeine, and it absolutely lived up to the recommendation. The service was warm, friendly, and welcoming.

The cortado was technically outstanding. The temperature was spot on, allowing the coffee to be enjoyed immediately without losing any sweetness or balance. The microfoam was silky and perfectly integrated with the espresso, creating an exceptionally smooth texture from the first sip to the last. The drink maintained excellent body retention throughout, and I was especially impressed that the latte art remained visible almost until the very end of the cup—a small detail that reflected how well the milk and espresso stayed integrated throughout the drink. The presentation was clean and precise, showing great attention to detail.

If you appreciate well-executed specialty coffee and baristas who focus on consistency and craftsmanship, Flo Coffee Bar is definitely worth a visit. And thank you to Jack from Endorffeine for recommending another outstanding coffee experience.”
