One of the best ever. I have dined at all the high end eateries steak joints in the city. This place is a gem. Had to try the desert. We had a chocolate flourless fudge cake. We indulged. “Absolutely adorable decor as you step into this neighborhood local joint, filled with music legend memorabilia and tv's lit with tunes from Queen. The menu is simple with each burger having its own personality. Each sandwich can be made into a chicken sandwich or a meatless veggie option as well. Had the curds and Parmesan fries on the side. Cute trivia cards to entertain you and your table guests. Was excellent quality food, and wonderfully friendly service.”

“I took my Italian mom here who was visiting from Indianapolis. We had an amazing time! I could tell the servers were very busy (I work just down the street so I know how busy Fulton Market gets on a Friday night) but the entire staff was incredibly kind and attentive despite the high volume. Our server Haley was very sweet and timed everything perfectly. She recommended the seabass and was spot on. I would also like to shout out the server assistants who also had great timing and were very helpful! Will definitely be going back.”

The menu is vegetarian friendly or you can request to customise. The star dish was their ricotta dumplings. It’s a 10/10 for me. Every item that we ordered was delicious. “My first evening in downtown Chicago and I was looking for something a little bit different. A quick search, and I found the purple pig restaurant at the top of my list I mean, come on, purple and pig in the same sentence. This already had me intrigued, even though it was dinner time on Thursday evening, and I found the place to be a little tight, I quickly weeded at the bar. This was perfect since it was just me. I wasn’t super hungry so I didn’t wanna go too crazy but I had seen others rave about the milk braised pork shoulder so that’s what I went after. When they delivered the pork shoulder, moments after I ordered, I realized they delivered it with a spoon. A spoon? I wasn’t sure what to think but being as adventurous as I was, I use this phone to dig into the pork shoulder. The pork shoulder fell apart. I knew I was in for a treat! although I wasn’t super hungry, there was no way I was going to let this pork shoulder go to waste and I cleared my plate. The restaurant also has a very nice selection of wines, but I’m not a wine drinker so I won’t speak on that subject. I don’t usually visit the same place twice during the visit, but I might make a trip back to try the pork belly. Only time will tell! Definitely a great place to choose if you’re in the area.”

Our chef was very skilled and gave us a rundown of where they acquire all their fresh ingredients. The sake also paired wonderfully with the sushi. Our 16-course omakase was the perfect amount. A great place for a special occasion.”

“A limited menu with decent food. Had the winter squash which was delish, especially the flavor combinations and goat cheese puree. Our table shared a baguette which was nice with the herbed butter and tiny anchovy. I would say this is a stellar place for whisky and bourbon selections if that's your thing. It's not your place if you're on a budget as the prices were a bit steep. Noisy atmosphere. Cute woodsy inn theme.”

“First of all, the service is excellent. Our server was helpful, and pleasant, always showing up at the proper time. I thought the atmosphere on the lower level was a little too dark for my taste but it didn't detract from the service or the food. Dine upstairs if you prefer more lighting but it's also dim. Now the food. The salads were amazing. Our table had the lyonnaise and the wedge salads. Both were excellent. The ribeye steak, fried chicken, steak frites, all wonderful and recommended. One of our party ordered the salmon which is cooked medium. He said he should have ordered it well done but that is more his preference. Our server asked if it was OK and he said yes so no reflection on the quality of the dish. The creamed spinach is good but very rich. The mashed potatoes were amazing. I will definitely return just to try more dishes. Sorry no pictures. Drinks were amazing as well. Oh, forgot to mention large portions on everything.”

The owners, Yesenia and Jose were so easy and delightful to work with, the staff was attentive, recommending and teaching games to our guests of all ages, the food was delicious(cheesy eggs and quesitos were scrumptious), and the atmosphere was just perfect! “First off, the vibes here are immaculate. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Soho House, and the ambiance is very intimate--perfect for a smaller party. The menu is pretty straightforward. There aren't a lot of options to choose from, but each item is very unique. What we ordered: Caliente en los Trópicos: pretty yummy! Supposed to be spicy, but the spice is not overbearing at all. An interesting cocktail. Ceviche: a great way to start the dinner. Very shareable; love the balance of sour and savory flavors. Tuna Tostada: my favorite! I've never had a tuna tostada before, and it's nothing like what I expected. Mussels: you cannot go wrong with the mussels. The bread goes so well with this. Considering the dishes seem so original and the quick service, I'd definitely recommend this spot to my friends.”

The pasta was served in adorable china which insulated the heat so well that the pasta stayed hot through the entire meal. I did not know much about Spanish cuisine prior to MFK aside from paella, but now I am looking for similar experiences like MFK. The potato and smoked piquillo croquettes were awesome. The flavors in this, what I expected to be a simple dish, were a complete surprise. The skate and chips were amazing. The best skate I have ever had and I do not know what they do to the chips, but they are delicious. The fideo (I have never heard of this dish) was incredible and the saffron cream sauce was out of this world. I consider myself a foodie with high standards. MFK blew me away. If you are into the entire presentation from apps to drinks to entrees, this is your (and my) place. The sauces were delicious and unique. Do yourself a favor and get to this place. One more thing, the burnt basque cheesecake was delicious.”

“Wow! We arrived a little early for our Saturday at 7:30 dinner reservations in hopes of getting seated early, if there was a chance. It was restaurant week in Chicago Osteria was very busy. Unable to get a table early, we happily sat at the bar and waited. After debating on what drinks to order, we opted for the "just bring me wine" . The bartender asked if we were having the restaurant week menu, as that had specific wines to go with the courses (which is what we went with). We were seated a little after 7:30, no complaints on my part over that, as they were very busy. When a place is participating in an event such as restaurant week and there is a set menu, one shouldn't expect any substitutions from said set menu. I completely understand this, although having to eat gluten free poses a bit of an issue for me. The options for the main course of the set menu wasn't going to be a problem for me. I inquired about the ingredients on the first course. I knew the bread and roasted garlic, as well as the meatballs were a no go for me and explained that I couldn't eat the prepared salad due to the croutons. Much to my glee, I was offered a caprese salad instead of the Caesar. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the bread with roasted garlic in oil and vinegar, as well as the meatballs and Caeser salad. The soup was a delicious chicken and vegetable soup. At 8:10 started to get nervous about the time, due to us having tickets to see Drunk Shakespeare at 9pm. This was poor timing on my part, I should have reserved our table for 7pm or earlier not 7:30pm. When our waiter came over to check on us I explained that we needed to put out by 8:30(ish). Mild concern came over his eyes and he went back to check in at the kitchen. Moments later, a gentleman came to our table (I'm assuming the manager) to discuss our predicament. He kindly explained that our main course wasn't going to be ready for another 20 minutes (the restaurant was very busy). The timing would have been just fine any other night for us, but not that night. After a discussion with the manager, we all came to an agreement of us having a second bowl of soup and paying ala carte for what we had eaten and forgoing the set menu. I take full responsibility for our poor timing and am delighted in how the restaurant was gracious and accommodating. Our waiter brought over two glasses of chocolate wine to finish off our meal. The food was outstanding and the service was even better. Next time we are in Chicago, I'll make sure to set enough time aside to enjoy the full eating experience.”

It was such a laid back yet exquisite experience. Guests were allowed to wonder the space and take in the food preparation. You could ask questions of the chefs. It was really neat and nothing like I've ever experienced. Since there are a limited number of reservations the entire staff is really attune to guests needs. I have no complaints about any of the dishes. Some of the standout dishes were the shrimp dish which was an ode to the history of Chicago fried shrimp. The Swedish style meatball cooked in smoked beef tallow with gnocchi was so well balanced. The smoked duck bahn mi and smoke duck pho was amazing . The Lamb dish was out of this world! I'm still in awe of the vanilla shake and fries dessert. It was truly a work of art. The vanilla with the crunchy potato bits and potato and leak soup just worked. I could take one of those every day. This experience is definitely worth it! I hope to be back in the future!”

Actually, there's not a bad seat in the place. Even when we had to wait awhile for our food, the atmosphere was so exciting, it was all worth the wait and the food and service was great. The broth is incredibly rich and spicy, with lamb cooked to ultimate tenderness in spices, served with traditional Yemeni flatbread for a rich and unforgettable flavor. Kebda Lamb Liver Would have thought it was a Chinese stir-fried liver if no one mentioned. Seasoned with a rich array of spices and onions, it's full of the meat's natural flavor and aromatic layers. A bit oily but goes well with rice. Cucumber Salad A refreshing cucumber salad, intensely cucumber-y but a bit too much dressing. Not greasy but just okay in texture. Dates Middle-Eastern style sweet dates, a complimentary treat from the owner, who also offered other sweets which we were too shy to accept. “We came without reservations and arrived a few minutes before 5pm on Saturday. There was already a long line - we ended up getting on the waitlist and got in after an hour. While in line, we met the owner - very cool dude and you can tell he's very passionate about ramen. The food and service were both excellent - well worth the hype! I ordered the miso and a friend ordered their special of the month, the Toyama Black. I preferred the miso - I like the chewier/firmer traditional ramen noodle (rather than the thin noodle) though the Toyama Black's broth was delicious and very light. The miso broth was a very good traditional miso broth - it was perfectly seasoned and not overly salty (but extremely filling).”

“04/02/24 - What an awesome add to the neighborhood. Teriyaki Madness is in the mall next to The Smash burger on Foster Ave. It's less than 1/2 mile from my house. I actually sampled their chicken teriyaki @ a Yelp event up in Lake Bluff @ Bernie's Book Bank. Teriyaki Madness has a store up in Gurnee, IL The teriyaki comes in 3 different sizes, Junior, regular or large. I ordered the regular sized chicken teriyaki bowl & it was more than enough for me as I had a little bit of left overs to take home. They have different options like regular or spicy chicken, chicken breast teriyaki, steak teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, tofu teriyaki & chicken katsu. Wry good seasoning w Great options. They also have appetizers like edamame, egg rolls, chicken potstickers & crab Rangoon. I was very pleasantly surprised w/the grilled chicken teriyaki served over brown rice w/veggies like cabbage & broccoli. I really enjoyed my meal & scarfed it down. I will definitely be back to try some of their other items like the steak teriyaki or chicken katsu.”
