“Bacchanal was recommended by our Lyft driver. We went the last night of Jazz Fest. Our driver was right it was fabulous. The place doesn't look like much when you pull up to the front, but what a surprise when you walk in. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is the perfect New Orleans style place with an amazing vibe. We ate upstairs after picking out a bottle of wine. We had the Gambas(Shrimp), the Patatas Fritas and the Pork Chop. All were wonderful, especially the Pork Chop. It was cooked/grilled to perfection. Maybe the best Pork Chop we have ever had at a restaurant. We were able to hear the band that was playing in the courtyard but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation. And the prices are very reasonable. We will be back next time we are in New Orleans.”

“It’s rare to find any diamond, much rarer to find a true diamond in the rough. This is a dive bar but it is a true diamond. It looks like a dive bar inside and out. It serves cold beer, alcohol and the only food item is Boiled Mudbugs. You know this place is serious about their crawfish when as your eyes adjust to the darkness you see a huge 100 gallon chest of warm mud critters for self service on one end of the bar and then long tables with a big hole in the middle and paper towel rolls everywhere. The crayfish are big and fresh caught. They are not overcooked or mushy. Cooked with real fresh pepper cayenne peppers, red potatoes, sweet corn, garlic heads, sausage, onions and blend of spices. Unlike most boils there wasn’t the over use gritty cayenne spice feel on the bugs. They were spiced just not so hot it blocks the flavors. Now those of you who think that the heavy use of dry cayenne is the only way we’ll think again. Oh by the way remember to wash your hands before going to the bathroom or rubbing your eyes.I’ve had home cooked boiled crawfish for over 50 years. I’ve found good mudbugs in small family owned restaurants near the waters edge on the bayou, in Asian eateries, backyard parties and many a eateries. But this place was the absolute best. The place is apparently known by local professional chefs and food workers , also its received great reviews by TV cooking shows and even liked by Americas Foodies.”

“First Aunt Tiki’s experience was about 15 years ago. This year my wife let me bring the kids. My 23 year old and I went to see my Cowboys get beat on Christmas Eve. Love this bar. New and fantastic every time I sneak in. Unfortunately after I left, in the rain, slip sliding over to Bourbon St. I eventually slipped my best slip and fractured my fibula, skinned my knees and scabbed up my forehead. I’m paying for it now but it was an epic adventure. Love all of you there but I’m gonna give the old liver a break for a while. 10 out of 10 if you’re cool!”

Chemin à la Mer 2 Canal St, New Orleans French • $$$$

“From the moment you step into Chemin à la Mer, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of refined elegance. The restaurant's stunning riverfront location provides breathtaking views of the Mississippi River, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. But the true star of Chemin à la Mer is its exquisite cuisine. The menu features a delightful array of French-inspired dishes, each prepared with meticulous attention to detail and bursting with flavor. My personal favorite was the quiche, which is undoubtedly the best I've ever tasted. The buttery crust, the velvety custard, and the perfectly cooked bacon harmonized in a symphony of textures and flavors that left me speechless. Our server, Mandy, was an absolute delight. Her warm smile, attentive service, and genuine enthusiasm for the restaurant's offerings made us feel welcomed and valued. She expertly guided us through the menu, providing insightful recommendations and ensuring that our every need was met with utmost care. The other breakfast items we sampled were equally impressive. “This was a complete surreal experience. It took me nearly 5 days to sort out how to write this review. We dressed smart and to impress with unique style in a linen suit and gothic dress. From the very start I had an original and unique experience. Without selecting the table originally we were sat ring side at a table facing a full wall of glass overlooking the kitchen. Oddly only two were available and a solo diner sat at the other. I am still curious how we were luck to watch the chefs work. We then were invited back for a tour of the kitchen and a presentation of fresh selections of what would be prepared. I saw no one else get the same tour. Why we were the only ones to get that I dont know. We both chose different tasting menus. The classic and contemporary or local. Being given several more tastings ahead of the substantial dinner. Everything was beyond comparison and though the wine pairs were unique and may not be preffered on their own alone they were expertly and deliciously paired for each course. What took me 5 days to write this was to sort out what happened. Dish #5 was a pan seared rainbow trout with almonds. Tbe second I took a bite I was consumed with emotions of nostalgia. The last time I ever had anything like it was on tbe Brule River of wisconsin as a child being taught flyfishing and enjoying what we caught that day on the hidden cedar built lunchgrounds. I have never cried while eating a dish of any sort but I did over this one. I complimented tbe chef seen on the other side of the glass and he showed gratitude in return. They served us many plates before and after what was on the selected menu and the entire staff was attentive to every need and wish. I was complimented that I stood as a gentleman every time may date left or returned to the table. I was i.pressed they also took care of subtle drops or spills on the table cloth. Defitely opt for the cheese course at the end. It was a wonderful quiet evening where I could enjoy my company where as the next evening at another fancy retaurant we were seated agsinst an obnoxious loud table where I couldnt hear my friend sitting at my shoulder. I will certainly choose Emerils over any other restaurant in NO in the future.Dietary restrictions: Accomodated cilantro allergy.”

“Still a top choice. This was our opportunity to go to where Ruth's Chris started.Guilliano gave excellent service and is very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines.Food was excellent as usual. Filet and bone-in-filet were perfect. Crimini mushrooms were great accompaniment. Sauce from the mushrooms was an excellent topper for the steaks. Mashed potatoes were fine but didn't shine compared to rest of main courses. Flan was outstanding. The only negative was that it was quite chilly inside, but RC could not control that since the restaurant itself was just onside a larger hotel. So if you go and don't like being cold, bring a jacket or wrap to wear while eating.”

Brigtsen's Restaurant 723 Dante St, New Orleans Cajun/Creole • $$$

“I found Brigtsen's About 15 years ago. I have since been there 10 times over the years on vacation. I go to all the fine dining restaurants In NOLA. No matter where I go. Brigtsen's is consistently the best meal of my trip. I just had the pork chop last week in was so delicious. This is truly one of the best restaurants in America. One of my favorite visits is when Frank is there so that I get to say hello. There are not many restaurants were a famous chef is actually there . I try to save room for the pecan pie but I'm not always successful. The menu is so good with choices I get too full. The service is also excellent. So in ending, I could go on for days, I'll just say. When your in New Orleans check out Brigtsen's. It's ok to thank me with every bite.”

Stanford's Restaurant Antoine's Restaurant, 713 Street Louis Street, New Orleans Steak House • $$$

“Our servers, Jesse and Latisha, were wonderful and made us feel very special. They were attentive and warm and welcoming. We had the shrimp Romoulade and the crab appetizers, ,which were excellent. My husbands shrimp creole was also very good. The side of fresh asparagus was perfect my cooked. Unfortunately the Pompano Pnochatrain was a disappointment. It was supposed to be grilled with abutter poached lump crab and a white wine reduction. It was very dry and tough with no sign of any sauce. The baked Alaska was not flamed table side and had minimal signs of having been flambéed in the kitchen. Overall an uneven experience but the evening was definitely saved by our two servers.”

“Antoine was a fantastic server ...polite, courteous, attentive, and extremely handsome. oh and the food was good too. I ordered the soup of the day which was the crab chowder - really decadent but not too rich. Dinner was a coffee rubbed filet cooked to perfection. I was dining alone but seated close to two different couples who did not know each other but struck up a conversation due to their proximity and I enjoyed their conversation as one couple was Swedish and the other was from AL but had Swedish roots. it was a really cool place to eat since I would call it fine dining but a comfortable feel. 10/10. Ask for Antoine.”

Meril 424 Girod St, New Orleans New American • $$

“Meril, Meril how I love you This is one of our favorite spots to go for date night or just meeting some friends for dinner and delicious cocktails. Service is always top-notch. We usually have a main waiter and then someone assisting with the table. But don't take that as a stuffy, uppity place to be, it's very casual and nice to have servers taking care of the table all throughout the meals. Apps: we decided to make a meal out of appetizers, and we kind of went overboard. Definitely small plates but big enough to share with leftovers if you do it right. We decided to order appetizers and make that our meal. We chose the Bacon Braised Collard Greens from the daily specials. We also chose Smoked Fish Dip, Crispy Cod Sliders, Deviled Eggs, Korean Fried Chicken Wings and Pad Thai Cauliflower For cocktails we started with English Turn(grapefruit but not sour), Tchoup(cucumber deliciousness) and Albariño(smooth white wine). All so good! It was also our 11 year anniversary and they surprised us with some cotton candy and a sparkler! Perfection!”

Ruth's Chris Steak House 525 Fulton St, New Orleans Steak House • $$$$
