“Today was the 1st time I’ve been to The Manship. We sat outside as the day was overcast and comfortable temps. The atmosphere is laid back southern elegance. Lunch menu choices made it difficult to choose. We started with the seasonal cocktail, a very Manship twist on a French 75 served frozen in a coupe and garnished with a violet. This is one I hope they make a permanent part of their menu. Perfect balance of sweet/sour and delightful on the palate. Next we shared smoked tuna dip served with what I think were fried tortillas seasoned with chili lime and saltine crackers. It rivals the best smoked tuna dip I’ve ever had from along the Atlantic. For entrees we chose small plates: Manship Woodfired Oysters served with focaccia and a special of Bbq pork belly served with Brussel Sprout slaw. I am not fond of brussel sprouts & surprisingly I loved the slaw. The oysters were beautifully served in a dish that kept them warm and not overcooked. The thick slices of bread were perfect for dipping in the butter sauce used in cooking the oysters. The pork belly was so good. Just the right amount of rub and sauce cooked to tender, melt in your mouth perfection. Our server was a total pro. I feel so bad because I didn’t write down her name. My daughter who was with me once worked as a server at a restaurant much like Manship. She was very impressed because our dishes arrived in perfect order and timing. She was knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Do yourself a favor and go eat at this wonderful establishment! We will come back!”

“I visited Urban Foxes yesterday morning on my way put of town and I am so happy I did. I fell in love with the atmosphere and the feel of the home this business is in. I tried an Iced coffee and a blueberry scone, that was made fresh that morning. It was delicious. Very Child, family and pet friendly as well. I highly recommend and will be back.”

“We went to Lou's Full-Serv last night to celebrate our anniversary. It wasn’t our first time but it was our first time to get the filet and holy hell was it good. We ordered the steak and fries and got the filet for our cut. Cooked perfectly medium rare with nothing but a little salt, pepper and char grill to give it flavor. It was hands down the best steak I’ve ever eaten and sooo worth the price. You also get a mound of the most delicious hand cut fries which I couldn’t finish but took them home because they’re that good. Got the s’mores cheesecake for dessert which we split. It wasn’t the s’mores cheesecake I remember from the old restaurant but it was still delicious. Then of course an order of bread pudding that I brought home for breakfast because I can’t go to Lou’s without getting the bread pudding. I didn’t get a picture of the steak and wish I did so you could all see its gloriousness.”

There are not an overly abundant amount of restaurants in this particular area. Also in my opinion they remind me of a old school early morning hole in the wall quick stop breakfast spot. In the south. The type of place young mothers might stop to feed their kids on the way to work and school in the morning. It is the type of spot that if you are not from the area or understand the culture, you will look and think twice before entering but once you try the food you will keep going back. The food was good. The service was quick. The atmosphere was okay but could stand a little more. For instance the television could be a little bigger and they could stand to brighten up the color scheme a little more. But all in all they are not a bad place to catch a breakfast meal especially if you want to do something a little different.”

I had the bacon cheeseburger with barbecue sauce. Literally one of the best burgers I have ever had. Burger was hot and fresh! My son had the chicken tenders and asked for them to be tossed in buffalo sauce. He said they were excellent and he is a super picky eater! The atmosphere is lovely and old school tavern feel. “I was visiting from Chicago my brother and his wife during spring break and one of my nephews Tracy of Smith Barber College on Hosptial Dr in Jackson, MS took us to lunch, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to Maxine’s Old Country Kitchen. The quaint restaurant is located on Macon St. Walking through the doors the ambience beckoned us in. We were greeted by beautiful wait staff serving everything you can imagine. Beef tips, smothered liver, hamburger steaks in gravy, turkey necks, baked and fried chicken, green beans, lima beans, black-eyed peas, cabbage, okra, rice and gravy, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, turnip and collard greens, yams, corn muffin, sweet potato pie, cinnamon roll and peach cobbler. I can say the food was ON POINT! Very delicious and I did not add salt or pepper. Seasoned very well. We really enjoyed ourselves and had food to take home for dinner. Also, there was sweet tea, lemonade and kool-aid to drink. I pray GOD continue to bless your business. A hidden gem~”
