“You definitely want to make a reservation if you want to not wait to be seated. This place fills fast. We went when the weather still had a bite in the air. We opted to sit outside in the covered heated patio. Which turned out to be a great place to sit. Highly recommend this. Our waiter recommended all our foods, which change with the seasons. The appetizer of the curry cauliflower was excellent. The triple garlic pork was so good, I could’ve had another bowl. My daughter really enjoyed the fried chicken. The chicken paitan comes with a raw egg that you break the yolk into the hot broth that creates the sauce. The ramen noodles are excellent. They fresh with a nice chew to them. It was my daughter boyfriend’s birthday and they brought to the table a slice of the yuzu cheesecake which was unlike any cheesecake we’ve ever tasted. (with a candle) the overall cost for five people with a glass of wine and a bottle of beer was about $119 w/o tip. Also you scan the code on the table to get the menu. Parking is not easy. ( NYC) if you can take the train, bus or Uber.”

Dirt Candy 86 Allen St, New York Vegetarian • $$$$

“If you've been around NYC and vegetarian, you have almost definitely heard of Dirt Candy. It's the epitome of vegetarian fine dining in NYC.I will preface my review by stating that I have not grown up in the fine dining realm; there is probably some level of "appreciation" that I lack. That being said, the food here is great. Presentation, creativity, flavor experience are all on point. However, I couldn't justify the price for the food. I think if you are very curious and want to knock it off your bucket list OR you are someone into fine dining then this is perfect. Otherwise, there are restaurants that I think you get much better bang for your buck for in NYC.”

“It was a beautiful spring day as I was welcomed into the bar area which is fairly large. Many people were there due to st Patrick’s day. The bartender greeted me and I was fortunate enough to meet the owner through a buddy of mine. The beer was nice and cold and the people were friendly. Found a table outside with two young ladies and my bud. We shared frozen margaritas and then they put 90s hip hop and r&b.. my favorite. The sun was setting so we had to go. Highly recommend for a chill night out, will definitely try the food next time!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at this restaurant. The ambiance was nice and comfortable and the food was very delicious. I had the fried dumpling, calamari, salmon salad and a pina colada which were all very delicious. I also had the chocolate fried ice cream because they were out of the vanilla flavor and that was tasty. I felt that the portion size of the salad and fried ice cream was a bit small but they were both delicious. The service/hospitality was great as well. Our waitress kept checking in with our table and answered all of our questions regarding the menu.”

LittleMad 110 Madison Ave, New York New American • $$$$

“I really like this restaurant! The food is high quality and the experience is fine dining but fun/relaxed.The menu is composed of bits of familiar recipes with Korean twists and French culinary techniques. There’s galbi, squid ink fried rice, uni, and mäd toast (which sounded monstrous but I didn’t get to try it this time) plus much more. I liked that the menu is small-sized and minimalist with clearly labeled snacks, little colds, hots, mains, extras, and desserts (menu is posted outside the entrance and on website). The current menu that started in mid-March has snacks/appetizers such as spicy yellowtail tart, beef tartare, fried shiitake mushroom rice balls (I think?, it’s labeled as mushroom arancini on the menu), pork head katsu, and scallion buns with unique sauces on the side ($20 per person, either no one or everyone orders). I tried the mushroom tempura with onion dip too! Everything was elegantly and adorably plated. Our server explained what’s what and suggested how to best enjoy some dishes. They have a really extensive drinks menu (many pages), complete with your usual offerings and their own unique cocktails, rice alcohol, maekgeolli, and even alcohol free cocktails woohoo! Not sure if all of the ice cubes for the alcoholic drinks are engraved with the restaurant’s name and logo but ours were and I thought that was a really cool and personal touch. An equally important part of my dining experience was the atmosphere and service. The staff are attentive, frequently filling glasses low on water and folding napkins when you step away. They also keep the music bopping and adjust their playlists. The lighting is a little dim and the interior is ‘cool club’ vibes but for a slightly more sophisticated audience. It’s a place to come in casual or dressed up a little for fun. It’s best for smaller groups of 1-4 I think based on seating arrangements but they seem to be able to accommodate slightly larger groups at some bigger tables and in the back room. Expect to pay $50-$100 if you get one item from each category on the menu and a drink. Probably $100+ if you get more or multiple drinks. The bar area in the back is across from the kitchen, which might be cool to peek at to see some staff members curating orders.I like that it’s on a quieter block in ktown area. The price range and location filters out loud and teen crowds, so it feels like a great place for young adults and Millenials to catch up or go on a date. It’s a place to sit down and chat while you savor small bites and wait on more food to arrive, so you’ll probably need like 1.5-2 hours if you’re going for a natural relaxed pace. I also saw a family of 5 enjoying dinner together here. Lastly, this is random but the hand soap is heavenly. I can’t wait to see what other menus they craft!!Dietary restrictions: They will ask about dietary restrictions and can modify recipes. If you don’t eat certain ingredients/foods, they can omit snacks too and adjust the price for you accordingly.”

“So I am not a local New Yorker but I often come up from DC to visit. My main goal when visiting New York however is discovering and devouring delicious food. That being said, my friends and I spent a long weekend in East Village partying it up till 6am each night! I still can't believe we did that. But in the midst of our late night partying, we would stop to refuel by grabbing a deli sandwich at this small bodega. You walk in and there is a wall full of colorful signs describing multiple types of sandwiches you can order. All looked spectacular but on the first night I ordered "The Biden". All the ingredients spoke to me and man what a sandwich! The flavor explosion was incredible with sun dried tomatoes and avocado on a croissant. I forget what my buddies got but they were raving about them too. The next night I got a meatball sub with grilled onions and once again I was in Heaven. We all were. So please keep this small business going strong and check out their sandwiches. All across their walls they have photos with celebrities so clearly they are popular. Thank you Sunny and Annie! Your food was one of the best highlights of our trip.”

I felt the rooms were a little small though and lacked some storage space, although I appreciate that it's New York and that's kinda the style the hotel is going for. The coffee shop and the bar are great amenities to visit and make use of.The doors are really thin though and you can hear everything that's going on in the corridor. The walls aren't quite as thin but we could hear an argument that kicked off in the room next door.On balance I would recommend it since it is pretty well located.”

“Arrived too early for our lunch reservations. Some of us were starved already, so checked Yelp for the best place to snack. This place was highly recommended. Easy to find, and many ways to search what we wanted. Most of us picked the #10 and I picked the #13 (fried bun). Took a bit for it to be ready but there were 5 orders to do at one shot. We decided to wait inside even though it was a tight fit. It was a little chilly outside. I think mostly, people order to pick up or have delivered. So the food was piping hot! But we didn't care, it was so good! And we had 3 different dipping sauces. The really spicy one my husband liked a lot. Two of us enjoyed the soy sauce one. My dad liked the sweet white sugar sauce. Everyone was so happy and we can't wait to return again. Definitely recommend.”

FIGO Il Gelato Italiano 178 Mulberry St, New York Ice Cream Shop • $

“I've wanted to try gelato for the longest time but had no idea where to begin, especially given the abundance of options in NYC. Thankfully, I came across a fellow Yelp friend's glowing review of Figo and knew this was just the place. We came on a dreary day, and there were no customers when we arrived, but honestly, I was too excited to care. The interior was cute and green and gave major spring forest vibes. I did my research so I knew exactly what I wanted. My sister, on the other hand, contemplated between pistachio and caffè and ended up going with the latter. Their prices have risen slightly. It's now $7.50 (instead of $6) for a regular cup of gelato, with up to 2 flavors. The portions are huge though, so two people can easily share a cup. * Ferrero Rocher I was dead set on ordering this flavor, and it was everything I imagined it to be. Sweet, smooth, rich, and creamy, with blended Ferrero Rocher bits. I found an almost whole Ferrero Rocher piece at the bottom of my cup and loved the added crunch. * Caffè Absolutely divine and exactly how I like my coffee. This flavor perfectly balanced the sweet and creamy elements of gelato with the rich and subtle, bitter notes of dark roast coffee. Highly recommend!”

“202404 Quick fix for homesickness near Times Square. 4.5 overall with hits and minor misses.Wonton Soup tastes like home. My dad said it’s not as good as the ones actually back home, but for me it’s heartwarming enough.Beef Noodle is mellow. I don’t usually like onion but the ones in the soup actually tastes delightfully sweet. Slightly oily for me but it’s not too bad for restaurant food. The Glutinous Rice Dumplings make me feel nostalgic. A little less aromatic and balanced as the ones back home (maybe a little more soy sauce and shiitake and pork fat would help), but again, a rare find abroad where the market is filled with Cantonese meat Shiu Mai.Xiaolongbao is alright. The meat filling lacks umami, but the soup is generous/ambitious. The skin is of good thickness though can be firmer.Shrimp Dumplings are a bit fishy maybe because of the ingredients. The dough is freshly kneaded in the kitchen, which is a plus.Service is prompt and friendly. All tables are set around the teppanyaki. We get to watch other people’s show but it’s a little difficult to share food.”

We ate in about 1h30 because we had a show (a bit faster than the recommended 2 hour window), however we didn’t feel rushed and everything was perfectly timed.Excellent ambiance, we loved being able to see the chefs work in front of us. It really needs to be at an appropriate dinner volume in that you can have a discussion with that people at your table and not shout. We asked twice for it to be lowered. “We came across this restaurant from a viral social post and didnt have any expectations honestly. The food was EXCELLENT and it had been a while since we’ve said that about a trending restaurant in NYC. We started with the wings that were some of the best wings I’ve ever had ( they serve it piping with a side of soaked towels to wash your hands) and the bone marrow was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Served on the bone with a side of buttery toast to place the marrow on and a delicious onion jam that sealed the deal. Then we had their famous burger with bacon and egg and it did not disappoint and a shaved prime rib that was AMAZING with a side of bacon Mac and cheese (we came hungry lol). Finished with the chocolate cream pie and key lime pie that sent us. Now the food was amazing but I have to say our server Ariana was what made our overall experience a 10/10. She was the BEST server we have experienced in a long time. She was so friendly, outgoing, and perfectly attentive and really made our night extra special to be honest. WE WILL BE BACK!”

“I heard that Tonchin is difficult to get walk-ins for, so I was really excited to get a reservation here. There was a long line of walk-ins when we arrived for our 12pm reservation. The restaurant has a cool modern vibe and good service. Overall there were some things I liked, but nothing was particularly memorable. The kimchi mushroom ($8) was meh and not worth the cost. It was very small, cold, and sour -- just hard strips of oyster mushroom in a chili oil/vinegar flavor. I didn't taste the kimchi flavor. The original maguro ($27) was very good. Lots of great flavors and textures, and everything was cut to the same size. I enjoyed the crunchy bits. The tebasaki ($18 for 6 pieces) had quite big and tender wings. The drumettes had more flavor and sauciness. This wasn't a must-get, but it was decent. The smoked dashi ramen ($22) definitely lived up to its name. It was a rich but not overly heavy pork broth with smoked dashi liquid on top. It was good but not amazing. I didn't love that the bamboo was in a big chunk, which made it hard to eat. The noodles are nothing special. I felt similarly about the tonkotsu ramen.I got the aka drink ($18) which was pretty good -- very floral and good sweetness. It wasn't that big, though -- it had a giant ice block in it.Overall the restaurant has a nice vibe and the food is quick to come out, but nothing would make me come back. The maguro was definitely the highlight.”

“Te amo Mission Ceviche! My Boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The entire staff treated me like a King! The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely incredible! The food is a gastronomical fantasy. Incredible flavors, fresh ingredients, truly mouth-watering meals. My Boyfriend is from Peru and he says Mission Ceviche is like coming home for him. He is practically obsessed with the two ceviche dishes (Mixto y Classico). For me it is the short ribs. O-M-G I don’t think I have EVER had a meal so memorable and incredibly delicious. To be honest my words do not do the deliciousness of this meal justice. Simply put...it is oh so good. The short rib is cooked to perfection and is so tender you can eat it with a spoon. The accompanying sides are the perfect compliment. The sauce that’s used...I hope they bottle it because I would buy vats of it! The rice with choclo is sublime. The tres leches rich, creamy and absolutely decadent. The food is amazing. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. The music is fiyah. The location is super convenient—a half a block to the subway and Crosstown bus. What really sets Mission Ceviche apart is the incredible Maitre’d Carlos. He treats all patrons the same...from babies in strollers to celebrities. He is so incredibly kind, humble, gracious, charming, intelligent, professional and inspiring. He is passionate and proud. It is awesome to see him keep the atmosphere ebullient and festive and the food flowing. He manages it all so effortlessly. I think it is because he honestly loves his chosen career and when you’re happy and you know it “work” is pure joy. That joy Carlos gives it to all of the Mission Ceviche patrons. This was not me and my Boyfriend’s first time dining at Mission Ceviche. We are now greeted by our first names when we arrive. Carlos is there and he has the biggest smile and we know that we are in great hands and know we will eat well. Every dining experience at Mission Ceviche is amazing! “I had heard many praises of Fish Cheeks, so we made it our first stop in NYC last summer. We overlapped with happy hour so were able to get cheaper oysters and cocktails. The restaurant was bustling at 5pm on a Wednesday. The free shrimp crackers were tasty. The oysters were $18 for a dozen for happy hour. The oysters were not the best I've had, but they were decent and I enjoyed the Vietnamese toppings. The tongue and cheek cocktail was $11, normally $17. It was quite strong and had a nice lychee flavor. Definitely worth it for the happy hour price. The shrimp in 3 crab sauce was like a ceviche with the flavors of a spring roll. It was good but lacking some dimension. It was mostly sour, spicy, and soft, but could've used some crunch and savory. The calamari was mid, pretty thick breading and sweet sauce. The Zabb wings had a tangy powdered seasoning. They were pretty good but not amazing. The Prawn Karee had tasty gravy sauce. The prawns were big but there were 3 and they were a bit overcooked. The sauce was better than the prawns. The pork belly krapow had a good crispy texture. It was maybe a bit too salty, but overall I did like this dish. The steamed fish had a similar seasoning to the shrimp in 3 crab sauce. It was quite acidic -- could be more savory and spicy for my tastes. The fish was tender.Overall, I enjoyed trying a variety of dishes. The happy hour menu is worth it. Most of the dishes felt a bit one dimensional in flavor and could've packed a stronger punch, but I'm also just not a big fan of these types of flavors in general. I was glad most of it was not overly sweet, though! The restaurant is very pleasant and the service is good.”

“An excellent restaurant for many reasons. 1) Lovely setting, atmosphere and staff2) Really reasonable prices for the quality of the food on order and the popularity of the place3) The food was just exceptionally executed. They’ve taken authentic Sichuan Cuisine and elevated it, cleaned up some of the unrefined flavours and delivered it.The best dish was the Pickled Fish, they’ve kept the sourness to a good level and made the fish the star of the show in stead of the swimming pickles.Top mentions to the Deep-fried shredded eel (not seen this on a menu before) and it was a great “snack dish”. The sesame balls dessert was a really good surprise, the sesame paste was smooth and not overpowering at all (like it normally is). The chicken & lotus root dish was very well executed, soft chicken and I liked that they kept the bones to a minimum (often it can be more bone than meat).Average dishes were the shredded potato, sweet & sour pork and pork cold dish. All them were well done but of the standard I’d normally get in China.”

“Wayan is my favorite restaurant! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the food is a flavor explosion in your mouth. There's also just a really cool vibe there. I went for my birthday (2nd year in a row), and I had the sashimi for the first time and it was sensational! It's now going to be a staple every time I go there, along with my other staples, the octopus a la plancha, the corn fritter, and the brussel sprouts. I also tried the lime pie with buttermilk ice cream. Incredible! The chocolate ganache was also fantastic! Just go! You won't be disappointed.”

“Wonderful spot for a long, leisurely lunch. The food is excellent, notably, the french fries, which are borderline miraculous in their flavor and ab to sustain maximum crispiness for hours on end. The cocktails are very good, especially the martini service. The wine list is extensive and SKUs heavily to the natural side, so be warned. But the dining room is high ceiling and convivial, and the staff is allowed to sport their personalities, which is welcome.”

Monsieur Vo 104 2nd Ave, New York Vietnamese • $$$

“Let me start off by saying, if you want to complain about prices, don't even walk in the door. To get the optimal experience at any restaurant, you have to pay to play. So expect to spend about $70-100 per person here, this is a spot you take someone on a knock-it-out-of-the-park date or group gathering, you can't be a cheapskate. Now, to the food. Vietnamese BBQ is an intimate experience. Order the 7 course beef so you can try everything while the staff explains and helps you cook your meat. The electric grills are of the highest quality, the same ones they use at high-end Japanese yakiniku places, so the smoky taste on your cooked beef will be perfect. If you want to order a la carte, I highly recommend the Tomahawk, Madame Prawns and Charred Uni. Like I said, this is a place where you share your meal with friends and family so all the food is portioned that way.”

“It's a very long wait on a Sunday. I arrived around 11.15 and the wait for one person was an hour. For two people or more it was a 3 hour wait. The famous pancakes were delicious, even as a single stack was quite large. The home fries were just broken up hash browns so a little disappointed.I would go back if I was super hungry, but because of the long wait I had eaten something small beforehand.”

“The Smoked Pork Ramen was one of the best ramen I have ever had. The soup was strong in umami and smokiness and that alone made it a stand out dish. “The place is nice, it smells like smoked food indoors which I don’t enjoy a lot but if you’re ok with that scent, the place is warm. A little snob, but maybe that’s the vibe they want to share around. We had reservation but it was delayed, and we couldn’t have a drink while we’re waiting. The food was tasty, but not crazy to wait for delays. However, the place is cute if you don’t mind those details. Some people of the staff, great, others a little snobby and not friendly. Extremely loud place too, if you like to have a conversation, it’s not the kind of place I would recommend. You should try it at least once to find out tho, maybe it’s fine for you. I like lively places but not the ones with such much noise that you can’t hear the person next to you.”

I could not conclude any particular seat at Le Gratin was a bad one, which attests to the great care and guest oriented focus achieved by the curator of the spaces within. Beautiful vintage light fixtures. Standouts for me were the duck rilletes, the dessert wine ( a PASSITTO DI PANTERELLA ), and the day’s special- an angus rondel with brioche and foil gras on top. “I was up and down about buying this pizza because of the cost...HOWEVER, I thought I'd give it a try. It arrived today...Man. REAL PIZZA after 20 years of being GF. It was delicious! I've order online frozen items (cookies, pizza, apps etc) before and this was, by far, the best delivery result. Frozen solid, minimal waste and even the GF taramisu I was nervous about experienced no thawing. It was supposed to be for someone else but oops, so good my taste testing went a bit too far. What taramisu?? :) I ordered 3 GF pizzas and have only tried the sausage and mushroom so far. The crust edge was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle while the pizza itself cooked up nicely. I like mine a bit well done and even doing so, the toppings didn't burn. My ONLY complaint was it needed a bit more sauce for my personally liking and because it was fresh and tasty, I wanted more. Maybe a side to dip my crust in?? What? Yes. Great job Kreste!”
