“We walked in on NYE without a reservation and they graciously found us a spot in the bar area. Service was on point and staff were festively dressed! I love a crafty cocktail but most are too sweet. I had the Smokey mezcal cocktail 🍹. Perfection. Appetizers were delish as well. Perfect way to start our NYE celebrations.”

What a nice experience: from making the reservation to friendly greeting on arrival, through delicious dessert. Authentic HK cuisine draws SF locals and visitors from all over Asia. Server helped us pick a variety of dim sum and other dishes for our party of 6. Beyond the terrific dumplings, our favorites were Drunken Chicken, Steamed Chilean Seabass, Seafood Ma Po Tofu, Ribeye with Mushroom, and Gai Choy. For dessert we split Egg Yolk Cake, Fried Sesame Ball, and Mango Pudding. We’ll be back, and I highly recommend the restaurant.”

“First I learned the pronunciation of Donaji, a Oaxacan Princess, is (doh na hee).
A friend and I had margueritas: he had the Coco, and I had the Cadillac. Both drinks were delicious. There was no G4 Reposado, so they graciously swapped in another delicious, smokey Reposado.
We split a Mercado Ensalade, and there was plenty to split. The greens and oranges were fresh, and the pickled onions and hibiscus vinaigrette were just the right combination of sweet and sour.
He had the mole chicken enchiladas with a side serving of rice to ensure all the delicious mole was eaten. The combination of 26 ingredients blended to mole perfection was made for a flavor packed entree. I don't like mole, so I ordered the Mole Rojo Spare Ribs, without the mole sauce with a side of refried beans. What came to the table was the delicious Mole Rojo 1/4 chicken, without the mole sauce. I let them know I had ordered the Spare Ribs, and they apologized for the error, and said it would take a few minutes. I hated the thought that the chicken would go to waste and I decided to keep the different protein. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked piece of chicken, with a wonderfully spiced crispy skin with a small portion of pickled vegetables.
When our waiter returned with the dessert menus, he also brought two complimentary shots of Mezcal, orange slices an Tajin spice. The waiter again apologized for the order mix up. The smokey Mezcal was very smooth, and the orange slice and Tajin spice really elevated the taste.
We split the Churro Donut with warm chocolate sauce. Again, like all the other food, the churro was perfectly crisp and without any deep fried oily-ness. We struggled to use all the silky smooth, pourable chocolate sauce!
We both felt <$60/ person without tip was reasonable for the quality. At 6 PM parking in yellow loading zones on 24th Street was readily available. On a Wednesday night a DJ started to mix at around 8:45 PM. The DJ was experimenting with the sound volumes and eventually got it right, so conversation could be said & heard across the table.
This is definitely a place I'd recommend to friends and family.

“Hidden gem for amazing food. Cuisine is primarily Peruvian but also has dishes from other South American countries. Prices are slightly higher but portion sizes are actually big so it evens out. Highly recommend the Mariscada and the Baja fish tacos.
If you haven’t tried Chicmorada, great place to try it as well. Very close to the original we had in Peru”

“Seriously great pupusas. Stopped by for a late lunch in this sunny spot in the Mission. Got the pupusa combo with beans and plaintains. I tried jalapeño with cheese and pork pupusas. They were light and airy, not heavy or greasy like too many places. Looking forward to trying more of the big menu. The agua fresca was guava, which was delicious too. Friendly low key service.”

“It’s a great place to meet friends for fun food and have a glass of wine… it has a cozy interior or you can sit out on Dolores sidewalk and enjoy the lovely neighborhood. The owner and his wife make make you feel relaxed and welcome. It’s also a great date spot and the tables are set up for comfort or intimacy if you prefer- it also offers food to go! Most people who try it want to return!”

“WOW. The Brazilian tacos have a distinct taste that will blow your mind. The salsa is tangy and crisp but definitely not too spicy. Almost a fruity flavor but not overwhelmingly so. In my opinion the steak taco I tried is one of the best, if not THE best in San Francisco.”

“My newest favorite Indian place. After losing our all time favorite due to closure, we have been trying multiple different Indian restaurants. This place is tasty with a generous biryani portion size, larger than any of the other places we’ve been to, deserving of a good review! Humble but adequate interior- we’ve eaten in and gotten carry out and both were fine. Will be getting carry out here on a consistent basis unless something changes!”

“Liholiho is a fantastic restaurant! The space is modern and beautifully designed, with an open kitchen where you can watch everything being prepared, which adds a lot of energy and transparency to the dining experience.
The service was very friendly, attentive, and quick. The cocktails were excellent, and even the non-alcoholic one I ordered was made with care and tasted great.
The food was outstanding. The bun with beef tongue was extraordinary, the tuna tartare and ceviche were perfectly balanced and fresh, and the shrimps with crispy rice were especially memorable. All dishes showed creativity, originality, and were prepared with high quality ingredients.
For three people, including first and main courses, drinks, and one dessert, the bill came to $260, which I found fair for this level of quality. The only minus point is that the restaurant does not offer coffee, which would have been a nice way to finish the meal.
Overall, I really enjoyed everything at Liholiho. Highly recommended, and I hope I will get to return again!”

“Aziza was an absolute treat and a unique Moroccan restaurant. The meal started off on a high note with their cornbread served with harissa butter — hands down the best cornbread we have ever had. Perfectly moist with quite a bit of sweetness with just the right kick of spice from the butter.
The shakshuka was phenomenal — rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked eggs that made every bite satisfying. The mussels appetizer was another standout, fresh and beautifully seasoned.
The basteeya was unique and delicious, like a savory, chicken-stuffed baklava — the flavors were spot on, though it was a touch on the greasy side.
The only minor letdowns were the sit-down chairs, which could be more comfortable, but that hardly mattered once the food started arriving. The yuzu custard was a perfect finish to the meal with a unique mix of flavors. The wait for the dishes was noticeable, but absolutely worth it.”

It was the first time since then that we got to enjoy Monkfish. A rare find! And cooked beautifully with a light curry sauce. We did the 4 course option and were stuffed after, it was a lot of food but well priced! The strawberry gelato desert with geranium foam was a memorable and perfect ending to the rich meal. The staff was attentive. We will definitely go back as they change their menu daily. Truly an unexpected gem to find on a random corner of the mission.”

The “punch special” is chaos in a glass (a mix of whatever’s going—but cheap and fun if you’re brave). Music was random, the pool table was lively, and people were even sending drinks to strangers, which gave the whole place a buzzy, friendly feel. It’s the perfect mix of dive bar energy with proper service and solid drinks. Not polished, not trying to be—just effortlessly cool. Definitely worth a visit, and I’d happily go back.”

Each course was beautifully presented, thoughtfully explained, and absolutely delicious; an experience that went far beyond just a meal.
What really stood out was the level of detail and personalization. At the end of the evening, the staff surprised me with a Polaroid photo of my husband and I, and a customized menu with our name’s and celebration printed on it. It felt so special and added such a personal touch to the celebration.
The atmosphere was intimate yet lively, with Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kid Cudi, and similar artists playing softly in the background, creating such a cool and personal vibe that elevated the entire evening. The service was impeccable, and every bite showcased the creativity and passion of the kitchen. Kiln SF exceeded all expectations and made my birthday feel incredibly memorable.

“Needed to pick up a quick dessert after enjoying the most amazing pizza a few doors down at Outta Sight. Gateway drew us in with their stacks of pink donut boxes--an immediate sign that this is a legit donut place. Our go-tos: blueberry and crunch which were immediately recognizable in the glass case. The lady behind register was very friendly and before we could assume it was cash only, she brought the POS out for us to tap and go. Gotta love it when a humble mom & pop keeps up w/tech. One excited bite out of each donut and we knew that Gateway would be our fav shop in the city. These donuts are AMAZING. They're fresh but more interestingly, they're sweet without being sickening (think opposite spectrum of a Krispy Kreme). I'm sure there's some kind of sorcery involved behind the recipe, but whatever they're doing is incredible. Even the small detail like the blueberry colored dough inside the donut is testament to their special touch. By the way, 2 donuts only cost us $3.75! What a deal.”

“Really sumptuous lobster roll. The butter flavoured brioche was loaded with a generous amount of fresh lobster meat. It was not overly seasoned which allowed the original lobster savouriness to shine through. The price doesn't come cheap but it's still worth it given the large portion and quality of the lobster. It was definitely the best lobster roll I have ever had.”
“This is a must. We cannot come to San Francisco without making a stop. Had the daily pizza special - mushroom and Gruyère cheese - it was heavenly. Also suggest grabbing some of their breadsticks. Imagine the best pizza crust you’ve ever had topped with butter and parm. You can’t go wrong”

“We celebrated my son's 21st birthday here with seven in our family and North Beach Restaurant went above and beyond!! We lucked out as Thursday is Frank Sinatra night with a reincarnated singer of identical voice sound. Seriously, this guy was truly amazing, if you love Frank, which our 21 year old does, you'll be amazed. The staff was superb, the food also amazing and the night was beyond what we hoped for! It really was straight out of a movie with every aspect of perfection for such an occasion. The property is elegant and inviting, we had a table right at the window, the bar is high standard style, every person treated us as if they knew us personally. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We are from Santa Monica, CA, or we'd be at North Beach Restaurant frequently. As it is, our son is a student at UC Berkeley so we will be here every time we come up to visit from now on. We ordered multiple drinks from the bar, but their wine list looked very adequate and desserts were all spectacular. Thank you all at North Beach Restaurant for everything you did, it went down as an incredible and greatly memorable evening, and our lucky night with Frank's amazing voice as the evening's background music. WOW!! Our son said the evening was above and beyond with his family!!”
“Intimate and cozy bar with an excellent wine and beer selection. The interior is gorgeous but small, dominated by the bar. The walls look like they’re made of green velvet but it’s actually concrete. The service was friendly, and they made to sure to keep our glasses full. The food is from Ernest, which was a treat. The bread is from Rize Up Bakery and highly recommended with the wine.”
“7 Adams is a great restaurant for European cuisine suitable for any occasions. It is a little bit tightly seated but the crowd wasn’t too loud. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food is well proportioned and balanced. Pacing of food is perfect. Never a moment did I feel like I was hanging and bored. My favorite dish is the halibut, which was tender and goes really well with the sauce. Dessert was just ok but I am not a dessert person anyways.”
“Little Shucker is a charming seafood spot with a cozy, comfortable vibe. The baked oysters and the whole roasted fish are absolute must-orders—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The sauce is on the side and I’d say keep it that way. The Big Shucker platter was both impressive in presentation and fun to share, making it a highlight of the meal. The crab cake, however, was the least memorable dish for me.”

“Finally went here! Was a solid 4/5. We were walk ins, which is great that we could get seated - but the communal table felt really tight. Not very romantic. Vibe was a little sterile, and we felt rushed at the end (got our check as soon as we ordered coffee and half way through dessert). The pizza was decent but a very chewy crust. Pasta was delicious - a corn flavor. Could come again but not a must!”

While each dish focused on/showcased the high quality of ingredients, the flavors were a nuanced balance between Korean and Western cultures. Choosing quality over local at each crossroads, many evoked memories of my Korean childhood.
The lynchpin for this beautiful evening was when the chef unexpectedly spent time with us; shared a rare insight behind the scenes. At our table, few were from the East Coast or not Korean American, thus not realizing the backstory to arriving to this moment. I so appreciate the honesty as validated the constant struggle between balancing Korean/American expectations, especially in this time/place. To tie such a diverse audience, the chef executes well.”

“I really never have enjoyed tasting menus….but Tiya’s tasting menu fully changed my opinion on them. 4/6 dishes were things I probably wouldn’t have ordered on a regular menu so getting to try these dishes was a treat. We supplemented the tasting menu with the chicken gushtaba and the shrimp. They were both so good but the gushtaba was outstanding….Think a chicken meatball in fondue.

“This review is particularly for the Ilna pop-up on Sunday nights. Maz, the chef, cooks with so much passion. He collects the best ingredients from local farmer's markets, even using his background as a wine maker to create special ferments, and shares his family's Lebanese origins with so much care in each dish. The meatball and prosciutto are not to be missed!”
“A very cozy place in the financial district. Even though we went on a weekend, there were still a lot of people working there. Their pour over coffee is reasonably priced and they also provide coffee beans in the shop. I like the paintings they have inside. The coffee also comes with a postcard telling us where the coffee beans come from and the history, which I think is very nice. If you like coffee, I recommend giving this place a try.”
“This was our first time trying House of Pancakes, and let's just say--the name is definitely misleading in the best way. While you might expect a traditional breakfast spot, this cozy, mom-and-pop-style restaurant serves up hearty Northern Chinese dishes packed with flavor.
We came with a large group of extended family and were impressed with how accommodating and friendly the staff were. They even made thoughtful dish recommendations based on our group size and preferences, which made the experience even better.

Overall, the food was delicious and flavorful. That said, if you're not a fan of lamb (like me), just be aware that the lamb skewers and dumplings can be a bit gamey. The spicy skewers helped mask it a bit, thanks to a generous sprinkle of paprika.
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the lamb stir-fried noodles--the lamb in that dish was melt-in-your-mouth tender and tasted more like beef than lamb to me. Unfortunately, I couldn't try the beef pancakes due to dietary restrictions, but my cousins absolutely loved them and said they were a must-order.
The pork dumplings were a standout for me--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. And the cucumber salad was refreshing and balanced everything out nicely.
The restaurant has a small, casual diner vibe that gives it local charm--nothing fancy, but welcoming and perfect for sharing a flavorful meal with family or friends.”

My salad of heirloom tomatoes, roasted nectarines, gooseberries with goat cheese and dill was outstanding, as was my pasta with cherry tomatoes. My husband' had the always terrific and his salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. The dessert of berry passion fruit sorbet with ginger cookies was amazing - so good!”

“I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I am a business owner a few doors down and I wandered in with a friend after work one night about a month ago. We were met with such incredible warmth from the staff and the environment itself, even without a reservation. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Josh, only to find out later that he is the owner. He made excellent recommendations on everything from our drinks to dessert. The bar didn’t feel isolated from the rest of the restaurant and guests, but rather was lively hub frequented by kitchen and serving staff and warmed by a smoldering wood fire. The coziest. We swooned for the poke appetizer, complete with house-made toasted, but not crisp, blue corn tortillas. The pork shoulder tacos—also to die for. I have to say though, that the star on the sidelines was the beans. I honestly didn’t know I could feel this way about beans…but I digress. Josh bounced around from table to table all night, never letting a single ball drop, making every guest feel like *his* guest. A pot de crème sealed the evening in perfect bliss. I’m back a month later with the same friend, eating different and somehow even more incredible entrees: ribeye, halibut and a rhubarb crisp for dessert. I scarcely ever take the time to write a review as I prefer to vote with my $ and my feet, but I simply couldn’t eat here again without taking the time to sing it’s praises. Eat here.”

“We celebrated my son's 21st birthday here with seven in our family and North Beach Restaurant went above and beyond!! We lucked out as Thursday is Frank Sinatra night with a reincarnated singer of identical voice sound. Seriously, this guy was truly amazing, if you love Frank, which our 21 year old does, you'll be amazed. The staff was superb, the food also amazing and the night was beyond what we hoped for! It really was straight out of a movie with every aspect of perfection for such an occasion. The property is elegant and inviting, we had a table right at the window, the bar is high standard style, every person treated us as if they knew us personally. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We are from Santa Monica, CA, or we'd be at North Beach Restaurant frequently. As it is, our son is a student at UC Berkeley so we will be here every time we come up to visit from now on. We ordered multiple drinks from the bar, but their wine list looked very adequate and desserts were all spectacular. Thank you all at North Beach Restaurant for everything you did, it went down as an incredible and greatly memorable evening, and our lucky night with Frank's amazing voice as the evening's background music. “I really never have enjoyed tasting menus….but Tiya’s tasting menu fully changed my opinion on them. 4/6 dishes were things I probably wouldn’t have ordered on a regular menu so getting to try these dishes was a treat. We supplemented the tasting menu with the chicken gushtaba and the shrimp. They were both so good but the gushtaba was outstanding….Think a chicken meatball in fondue.

Our waiter, David, was terrific, always on top of things and seeing to everyone's needs. The dining rooms were packed with happy customers, but tables were tightly packed, making it difficult to walk to your table without bumping someone. The restaurant was so loud it was difficult to carry on a conversation at our table. So, ambience kept this from being a 5-star review. But we'll return, nonetheless!”

It was the first time since then that we got to enjoy Monkfish. A rare find! And cooked beautifully with a light curry sauce. We did the 4 course option and were stuffed after, it was a lot of food but well priced! The strawberry gelato desert with geranium foam was a memorable and perfect ending to the rich meal. The staff was attentive. We will definitely go back as they change their menu daily. Truly an unexpected gem to find on a random corner of the mission.”

“We were looking for something unique and in a neighborhood we don't spend a lot of time in, and were so happy to stumble across Taksim.
As soon as we walked in, the smells of deliciousness hit our noses. The staff were very welcoming and also brought over a carrot/ginger soup shot as a little welcome item which was a very nice touch. Throughout the meal the service was stellar.
The food itself was also very good. The flower bread is super soft, airy and the sumac butter just takes it to a whole new level. The dip trio was also a very good idea. You've had these dips before I'm sure, but Taksim's are even better.
The cocktails and wine list are also impressive with some winners along the way. The Black Salt Blaze and the Peachy Bazaar were both very good!

Having spent the first half of our life in Montréal, Québec, Canada where it was hard to find a bad restaurant, we were absolutely amazed by this Bistro which looks more like a high end dining experience. The menu online & the photos attracted us to this location but we were amazed by the well timed service, the crisp white tablecloths, the table setting and the pleasant and calm atmosphere. My choices of charcuterie platter was perfectly sized; the chicken & the pork rillettes where a wonderful surprise. My husband had an onion tart with the crust as perfect as they get & which I envied. He loved his halibut, moist and tender and I raved over my grilled half lobster, so tender that I found myself munching on the shell parts as well. My bread pudding was not of overwhelming size & perfectly flavored. Don chose the Affogato (scoop of vanilla gelato « drowned » with a shot of hot espresso). We wanted to go back today but they are closed on Sundays.?”

“We ordered Hot Brownie Fudge Sundae which was utterly delicious. The Hot Cocoa classic was good as well. The place was packed, so we waited for them to clear a table for two. You place your buzzer in the middle of your table, and someone brings your order.
Be warned that the prices are really high - nearly $19 for one sundae! This is a major tourist trap, in California, and you are paying for, well, the experience.”

“Nouvelle Asian cuisine. We enjoyed the tasting menu, which offered many delicious and artistically presented courses including two desserts, all for a reasonable (by San Francisco standards) $120 per person + drinks + taxes + tips, bringing the actual total to $200 per person.
The Happy Crane cocktail made is a gimlet style drink, small yet so tasty that one of us ordered two of them!
Each course was presented promptly. Understandably, given the rapid rise in popularity of this new dining spot, some of the wait staff appeared to be still in training. That said, servers were eager to please and friendly.”
“WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! Smokin D's BBQ far exceeded my expectations when providing super delicious Southern food for my brother's memorial! I would give them 5+ stars if I could! First, owners Daniel and Lareina met with me at the venue a few weeks in advance and carefully went over every detail of each dish that I wanted. Since I wasn't sure if our guests could eat spicy food, they took out the jalapeños from the mini cornbread muffins and any spice from the other dishes I wanted. When I talked about wanting a sweeter coleslaw, Daniel asked if I wanted KFC-style coleslaw, which was exactly what I was looking for. Second, on the day of the memorial, Daniel and Lareina arrived on time with all of the hot and cold food ready to go. All I had to do was show them where to place the trays. Third, after our guests left, Daniel and Lareina were very quick to pick up all of their equipment, which meant that I could go home earlier than expected. Most importantly, all of our guests absolutely RAVED about all of the food, especially about the smoked pulled pork and cornbread muffins!!! In fact, many sent me texts later saying that the food was a "huge hit" and asking me for the company's name, which I was pleased to provide. If any friend wants catered BBQ for their parties, I will recommend Smokin D's BBQ in SF in a heartbeat! SIMPLY AWESOME!!!”

Then I was delighted and wowed by this new Crustacean restaurant. Improved menu, with the traditional classic world famous Roasted Crab & Garlic Noodles. This new spot is the NEXT LEVEL of opulence and enjoyment. I look forward to at least 30 more years of loyal patronage. My only dig is they have no loyalty program that rewards loyal customers like me who have introduced hundreds of new customers to the restaurant over the years. WHERE IS THE LOVE? The sommelier was kind and empathetic; he offered us waters and was talking to her to make her feel less embarrassed. While we were waiting, he even helped a lady park her car. So while we didn't have wine or food, the service is top notch and we'll go back!”

I found this place — Tikal Restaurante y Panaderia — and it felt like a blessing from God. The food here is simple, but it’s made with so much love and care that it feels like it was made by my mom or grandma.
I ordered the Sopa de Res and the Tamales de Pollo, and both dishes were absolutely perfect. The soup was flavorful, hearty, and exactly what I needed to feel better — like a homemade cure. The tamale was soft and delicious, so comforting.

“It’s been years since I went to this bar. We had just visited the Institute of Contemporary Art of San Francisco across the street. It was that sweet spot where some bars or restaurants don’t open until 4pm. We decided to stop by since it was open and it looked cozy plus they had the game on. The staff was accommodating in pushing seats and tables to accommodate the group. Prices were a bit steep so we only stayed for one drink. Seems like it’s a bar mainly for hotel guests from what we could see.”
“I got the iced strawberry matcha latte and it was good. While the drinks are good, the main appeal of this place for me is the environment. We’re so lucky in the Bay Area to have many great matcha and coffee places but this cafe is uniquely spacious, cozy, and cute. I would come back here to get a nice drink and also enjoy being in a nice, quiet place. I’m not sure if it’s always so quiet but I went around closing time and it was pretty quiet despite there being a fair amount of people there. There’s also interesting tiger syrup that you can add to drinks, which you can’t find many other places.”
“Liholiho is a fantastic restaurant! The space is modern and beautifully designed, with an open kitchen where you can watch everything being prepared, which adds a lot of energy and transparency to the dining experience.
The service was very friendly, attentive, and quick. The cocktails were excellent, and even the non-alcoholic one I ordered was made with care and tasted great.
The food was outstanding. The bun with beef tongue was extraordinary, the tuna tartare and ceviche were perfectly balanced and fresh, and the shrimps with crispy rice were especially memorable. All dishes showed creativity, originality, and were prepared with high quality ingredients.
For three people, including first and main courses, drinks, and one dessert, the bill came to $260, which I found fair for this level of quality. The only minus point is that the restaurant does not offer coffee, which would have been a nice way to finish the meal.
Overall, I really enjoyed everything at Liholiho. Highly recommended, and I hope I will get to return again!”
