“Anyone can seemingly make sushi seem better by making it more complex, but the real test is whether they can take the simple and make it excellent. Sushi-Ki-ichi does just that. They stick to the simple offerings, leading to an experience that feels less Americanized than other Japanese restaurants. That's not to say I don't love some level of creativity, but you don't need it here. That's because the family that owns Sushi Ki-ichi wants to create an authentic meal - a notion that was confirmed for sure when we had a conversation with the owner. In fact, they take quality to the next level with their equipment and efforts they take to make sure that what they serve is the highest quality, including specific freezers for the fish. We didn't try Sushi Ki-ichi for the first couple of years because we figured that the previous restaurant, a Chinese buffet that had gone downhill and fallen off the cliff, had rebranded and reopened as something new. Now I feel that for those first couple of years, we missed out. This has quickly become my favorite place in Portland. I look forward to any trips I take across town from Vancouver to Tigard, and make a point to stop in and grab a bite.”

“This place is engraved in my mind from a random snowstorm that struck about 8 years ago. In a nutshell, my friend and I got stuck at McMenamins from a snowstorm then ate and drank like royalty. Their food is delicious and their brews top it off for the ultimate experience. So next time there's a snowstorm, drop by John Barleycorns.”

“We went for a birthday celebration for my Daughter and GrandDaughter. We did make reservations to get a larger table ready for 12. The atmosphere is upscale and tasteful. Comfortable booths or tables and outside dining are available. I ordered vegan tacos - sautéed onions, peppers, mushrooms, pico, and avocado on soft corn tortillas served with black beans and rice. Delicious and beautifully plated. Their house made flan is creamy, caramel deliciousness and is the best I've had. The fresh squeezed margaritas were made with top shelf tequila. Edwin, the server, was very friendly and attentive. He earned his 30% tip! The prices are just what is expected for food of this quality and the quantity of food makes it worth every penny. And, bonus - the birthday girls wore giant sombreros while they were serenaded with the birthday song and awarded deep fried ice cream! I have eaten at Margarita Factory Hazel Dell before and will go back again and again.”

“There was plenty of food in the buffet although two of the dishes didn't match up with the published menu — the green beans were not amandine and the stuffing didn't have cranberries in it. That aside, hot things were hot and everything was tasty. Perfectly satisfying Thanksgiving meal.”

“I regularly purchase this brand, and have never had a complaint until now. I recently purchased two tuna salad sandwiches, and there was less than one tablespoon of product on the bread, and it was concentrated in the center of the bread (about 2 cm diameter). Very disappointing. The egg salad (my favorite) never has this issue. All other products have had ample filling, and always fresh-tasting.”

“I was so glad to find Red Lobster open on Christmas Day. My partner and I, we had a holiday cocktail and then some really good food. Grilled shrimp for him with hushpuppies, a big Caesar salad and roasted asparagus spears for me. It was just fancy enough and even though they were surprisingly busy our dinners came in a reasonable time and the wait staff was friendly and communicative. We had a wonderful Christmas Day meal!”

“I saw the negative reviews and was dismayed. BUT when we got there and saw the amount of people who were enjoying themselves. This amount of people would not have been and I was heartened by this. First off the service people. When we asked they were prompt. The sushi filled me up. The variety was astounding. I tried most of their different prepared vegetables dishes. Beef dishes as well. My wife ate her fill of various shellfish and other different kinds of seafood. The little dishes of ice cream was a nice touch for desert. It has a bit of everything for everybody. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is our favorite restaurant. Easy to find. Easy to get to. Lots of parking room.”

The Death Row Plate is my go-to, a stacked sampler loaded with Hurricane chicken, Korean fried chicken, and poke that will knock your balls clear across Pacific Hwy. Also… the grilled shrimp plate?? Absolute menace. I could eat 100 of them like candy and still be looking around for more. And the mac salad that comes with every plate? Should be illegal. I’m pretty sure it violates at least three laws. To top it off, the owner runs this place solo, in there every day, grinding, serving every plate herself until she sells out. And she sells out every single day. She’s born and raised Oahu, so you’re getting so you’re getting the real deal, no mainland shortcuts, no watered-down flavors, just straight island heat. Hours: 10–2…..Translation: show up early or cry in your car. 🫳🎤”

“I've always had decent food here at Bannings. This morning I ordered Pumpkin pancakes.....what a disappointment. The pumpkin batter needed salt added to it and it also could have used a bit more sugar in the batter. The syrup was not real maple syrup but table top ad says, "warm maple syrup," so I expected real maple syrup. It also says, "whipped butter." I asked the waiter about the maple syrup and he told me it was "artificial" maple and argued the fact that the restaurant never said "real" maple syrup. Maybe the butter is whipped margarine...who knows what liberties are taken in menu descriptions. I'm a "real" maple syrup customer.”

“A cute little family run coffee shop that is themed off of the video game series I've cherished for almost 20 years.

The coffee selection is great, all the tables have multiple power options (120v, USB, etc), and the folks are very friendly.

Great for picking up coffee on the go, even better for bringing a Deck and gaming while having lunch.

All in all, one of my favorite coffee shops on the region.

“What a great little weekday breakfast/lunch place! The chef and cashier are the husband & wife owners and they were so fun to chat with (late lunch so it wasn't crowded). The food offering is a very creative array of sandwiches (we had lunch) with some options for more intense pepper zest. Definitely a good option to burgers for a workday lunch!”

“This place is very unassuming looking from the outside. Right next door to the local post office. It has plenty of off street parking which makes it easy to access. Once we walked in the door we were warmly greeted and offered a table far enough from the front door not to be bothered by the chill in the air outside. The menu is a little different from our typical Mexican restaurants around here. It was a plus and promising to us that there seemed to be a lot of Spanish speaking people coming in for lunch. We came for the crispy tacos which my husband was craving but there were plenty of other dishes that looked enticing. I got crispy empanadas with my choice of a large selection of meats. There were a number of delicious looking soups available as well as menudo on Saturdays and Sundays. The tortillas were hand made. My husband got a tequila flight (which he couldn’t finish) of añejos which he very much enjoyed and the price was right. The service was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and plan to make this “our” Mexican restaurant from now on.”

“This tiny Mexican bakery is astoundingly good. The owners, a husband and wife team, are both friendly and love to talk about their products. As a chef, I appreciate good food and the knowledge of food preparation and both of them have that. Further, her brownie is absolutely the best I’ve had and I’ve made hundreds of them. “Went in this morning and ordered a coffee. The order was taking a bit, so I went up to check, thinking maybe it'd gotten dropped. Everyone's busy, stuff happens, I get it. There was an employee mopping the area and he said it'd be a minute. Then I realized it wasn't routine mopping but a cleanup situation. I apologized to him and said I didn't realize what had happened. He said "I'm John, the owner. We have a rule here that when an employee spills something, somebody else cleans it up. They're stressed out enough." Let me spell that out...the owner was wielding a mop to ease the mental load on one of his employees. Now I want to get a job there just to learn how to be a better person. Stay classy, John, you're doing it more than right.”

The shawarma is perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the falafel is crispy on the outside, soft and fresh on the inside—just the way it should be. Everything tastes homemade and made with care. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the sauces really bring everything together. We sampled a couple flavors, then decided on a flight of salted, malted chocolate chip cookie dough, vegan hazelnut cookies & cream, strawberry honey basaltic with black pepper, and maple koginut squash with pomegranate. They also give you 1 waffle cone with the flight, which was really cool! I loved the sweet flavors, while my girlfriend loved the savory flavors. I would highly recommend stopping in and tasting some out of the box ice cream flavors!”

“El Sol de Mexico is our family's favorite restaurant. We were saddened when the store in Tualatin closed. The store in Tigard is a longer drive, but the food is worth the drive. “When you enter the first thing you notice are the plants and real wood paneling. There are tiny cast irons up on the wall. The lighting is designed to look like old style gas lamps. The music is definitely the best part of the ambiance. The music ranges from doowop to soul to vintage rock and roll to San Francisco sound and Motown which is precisely my jam. I ordered a plain burger with mayo and fries. I'm weird like that but Miller's was able to able to accommodate my autism. The service was amazing and I'm not just saying that cause I know the waitress. The food was made quickly. Fries were crunchy on the outside soft on the inside as they should be. My Fanta was topped off when I got just under a third. It's clean. Very clean. I know cause I watched an employee pull every single table out to clean the booths. Very pleased with my visit.”

I went to this MOD Pizza on Friday and had another fantastic experience. They were very busy — the line was full, and people just kept coming in — yet the staff handled it with speed, teamwork, and great attitudes.

While the customer in front of me was still ordering, Jake noticed me waiting and offered to help at the same time. Within moments, both he and another team member were working on my order together — fast, friendly, and efficient. Despite the rush, Jake even took the time to let me know about a special offer I qualified for because I’d spent over $60. He explained it quickly and clearly, even though he was juggling multiple tasks. He didn’t have to go out of his way to do that, but he did — and that kind of effort says a lot about how he approaches his work.

The place is always clean, the toppings well-stocked, and the staff upbeat even during rushes. Whenever my family is craving MOD, I always plan our route to stop at this specific location because the experience is just that good.

“My daughter and I tried their corn dogs, she got the original and I got the crispy, I have to say I really enjoyed it. Good beef sausage and mozzarella cheese stacked inside of a hand dipped planko honey batter. Yumm. My daughter said she wasn’t hungry but she sure ate the entire thing. “I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the vegan pizzas at Mod Pizza are. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, and the price is very reasonable. There are also plenty of options for the whole family, including regular pizzas that everyone can enjoy. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean, and online ordering is easy. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend Mod Pizza.”

“The tamale house has wonderful tamales 10 out of 10. The owner was inviting and friendly. We went for the tamale family meal 12 tamales rice, beans, salsa for 69.00 great value. The tamales were delicious...I will be going back again soon.”

If their prices didn't continue going up, I would probably make this a more regular occurrence, but it's hard to justify spending $6.50 for a singular item that is 100% a luxury. The luxury is delicious and I'm sure it is well worth it. But like I said, definitely not something that becomes easily obtainable and or affordable regularly. This is meant to be a luxurious treat”

“Always a positive experience at this Starbucks on Scholls & 125th. The staff are incredibly courteous, friendly, kind, and have great work ethic. They always pay attention and make the drinks exactly as you order them which is why Starbucks became popular back in the day to begin with. A very competent group of employees here at Scholls, Starbucks should be proud! The Starbucks location itself always has people from the neighborhood hanging out with friends (which is also a good sign). The store itself is clean and runs smooth. The parking can be tough early mornings due to a donut shop and bank next to it, but not that bad. People go in and out quick. 5 stars for this lovely location! Highly recommend ❤️✨”

The quality of their sandwiches is consistently outstanding—freshly sliced meats, soft bread with just the right texture, and crisp, flavorful toppings that make every bite satisfying. You can truly taste the difference in quality compared to other sandwich chains.
The staff at this location always greet me with a smile and genuine friendliness, which makes the experience even better. They move quickly during busy lunch hours but never rush customers. I really appreciate that attention to detail—whether I’m dining in or grabbing a to-go order, my food is always made exactly how I like it.
Prices are fair for the level of freshness and service you get, and the shop itself is clean, organized, and well-managed. You can tell the employees take pride in what they do. My go-to order is the #13 Original Italian, loaded “Mike’s Way,” but honestly, everything on the menu is good.

“Moved to Portland not too long ago and hadn't had much luck finding good Mexican food. Low and behold I found Livi's tucked away in Tigard. Real taqueria food. The birria, al pastor, and carnitas all hit the spot. I might have to pickup jogging or try Livi's ensalada if this turns into a regular thing. Online ordering is easy, the staff is friendly, the truck is clean, and the food is more than satisfying, what's not to love?”

“This chain on Pubs, breweries, historical Inns and quirky events are a one of a kind place. 60 plus locations are all unique in character, but you always know you are at a McMenamins by the decor of each is different but with a similar theme. Mostly the same menu as a whole but individual items specifically to that location' menu changes quarterly.
We stopped by here for a passport stamp on our way to the History ball.
Wonderful decor, friendly staff and customers. Warm McMenamins feeling and a happy place. Each location is different. But the good and friendly staff happy customers and a very unique way to have us fans visit there locations from Bend Oregon to Seattle Washington by rewarding us with food, growlers, T-shirts, coaster's and more .
This is the best way to describe their fans are like a Greatful Dead fand but instead of Dead Headd, we are Bed Heads, which are the points you get when you stay in one of their hotels. BTW when you finish the passport you get to be a Cosmic Tripser and get enough Before Head Points for a 3 night stay in their hotels.”
