Whenever I’m in Manhattan, one of my must-stops has always been a Japanese ramen shop. Well… I don’t think I need to go all the way to New York for great ramen anymore. I found Kozy!

I ordered the Spicy Donkatsu Ramen, and it was absolutely perfect. The pork was thick, tender, and generous, the noodles were cooked just right, and the soft-boiled egg was spot-on. Honestly, I couldn’t find a single thing to complain about.

What impressed me most was the broth. A lot of ramen I’ve had in NYC is delicious at first, but the broth can be so rich and heavy that it becomes difficult to finish. Kozy’s broth was different—deep and flavorful without being greasy or overwhelming. I actually wanted to keep drinking it! (I know I know we are not supposed to drink the broth)

And then there was the complimentary salad. I wasn’t expecting much, so I didn’t even take a picture before eating it—which I now regret. The dressing was seriously one of the best I’ve ever had at a casual restaurant. Such a simple salad, but surprisingly memorable.

And the biggest surprise? The price: only $16!

Great pork, perfectly cooked noodles, an excellent egg, flavorful broth, a surprisingly amazing salad, and all for $16?

Hey, Michelin! Stop fussing over fancy wine lists and come have a bowl of real ramen at Kozy. This is the kind of place you should be paying attention to!

“Decided to try mae ornnit with my sister based on the strong reviews they have. Our server provided excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Mixed reviews on the food: Papaya salad was a downer. Lacks that nice flavor with fish sauce and papaya slices were sliced a bit too thick. Tom kha gai and chicken wonton soups were a winner. Lovely coconut milk flavor for tom kha soup. Fried tofu was pretty decent. The sweet and sour sauce for crispy flounder rocked, but I was expecting a slightly fresher flounder than what we had. Overall a pretty nice experience and we may return if we pass by the area again.”

“Craving Korean fried chicken and wanted to try this spot located inside CafeV. Called and got a run down on the flavor profiles for the wings. Placed a take-away order over the phone for the Hot Spicy. Was advised it would take 20min. Not an issue. When we arrived we waited a few more minutes to retrieve our order. The female employee was welcoming. You can also order via kiosk or at the counter. The restaurant is always clean, brightly lit and offers conversation level popular music playing in the background.

We retrieved our order and when we got home the wings were still hot, temp wise. First bite, flavor explosion! So good. The skin was crispy and the sauce provided a gentle heat first and quickly intensified the more I ate, yum. The chicken itself was flavorful and moist. We will definitely order again. Me the Hot Spicy, perfect level of spices, heat and a touch of sweet and my husband wants to try his hand at the Wings of Fire!”

After searching around and reading some reviews, I decided to give this place a try, and I’m glad I did! The food was actually pretty good. Most Chinese takeout places tend to be a little too salty, but the seasoning here was just right. We ordered the lo mein, combination fried rice, and orange chicken—your typical Chinese takeout dishes. Everything was tasty and satisfying. The service was also quick, and our food was ready in exactly 15 minutes, just as they promised. Overall, a good spot for a quick and easy meal. I’ll definitely order from here again whenever we’re craving Chinese takeout!”

“Favorite Salvadorean cuisine. My favorite meal is the "yuca con chicharrón," which is fried yucca root and pork crackling (rinds). This also includes shredded cabbage in the center as a side. I recommend reheating in an oven for better taste and texture.My second favorite meal is the chicken sandwich, which includes fries. It's about 8", has some lettuce and mayo in it. Pretty tasty. Same as above for reheating.My favorite sides are red beans or "pupusa revuelta." Pupusas are probably a transliteration of "pupus" or "pu-pu platters," which are similar to "tapas." These are bite-sized entrees or platters, but in this case, it is a fried, corn meal, pancake-like item similar to a 'tamal' in that it is corn-based, but it is flat and round and filled with either cheese, beans, or a combination of both (revuelta).Lastly, no meal comes with a drink included, but you can choose soft drinks, water, beer, coconut water, "horchata" or "jugo de marañón" (cashew juice). Horchata is the name of several kinds of beverages, made of ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, barley, tigernuts, or melon seeds (in this case, it's a powdered mix). Jugo de marañon is cashew juice, a light sweet juice somewhat similar to guava juice and almond milk combined.Prices are very, very reasonable as is the quality of food. However, I cannot guarantee the best customer service. It would be more awesome for them to add it to their menu tho for those of us who just love veggies. The broth is vegetarian based so it makes sense to have a vegetarian option along with it. We had a party of 8 and Jay Kim made it so much fun!!! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh. One other option that would have been great to have would be fresh ginger at the sauce bar and mushrooms on the vegetable plate. We were all pleasantly pleased with our food. The ambiance is very nice, low light but more than enough to cook and enjoy each other's company. Jay Kim made sure we always had what we needed. The sauce bar was amazing, so many choices. I recommend making a few bowls, some for the broth and and some for dipping your cooked food. If you get any type of meat, also make a sauce to marinade the meat. You don't have to but it made a good difference. Meats are thinly sliced for quick cooking and again,so fresh. The price was worth the amount of food and the experience. There is an all you can eat option or an a la carte option where you just get one meat selection and a vegetable plate which was more than enough for us as a party of young ladies. I loved the pop it made and its sugary shards. She also came over with knives when she saw us struggling to cut with forks! I will be back.”

“I’ve been coming to Suny Sushi since they first opened, and it is — and probably always will be — my favorite sushi spot. The fish is so fresh and the sushi rolls are AMAZING. The owners are incredibly kind, and so is the entire staff. They even gift me miso soup sometimes (I come like once every two weeks haha).

I seriously recommend this place. It’s not too expensive at all, and the quality is just amazing.

My favorites are the Triple Salmon Roll, the Triple Connection, and the Mango Madness.”

“I used to come here frequently with my friend for years was or favorite Korean BBQ, but we stopped going about 2 years ago. I went back yesterday with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, the place has changed a lot.

The food portions were really small, even for one person. The sauces were very watery and had almost no texture, and flavor, it honestly felt like I was pouring water over my meat. The meat also didn’t taste as fresh as I remembered.

They also limited the rice to only one cup per person, and for the pink sauce (I don’t remember the name), they only allowed us one refill. Considering how small the portions already were, that was disappointing.

The positive part was definitely the staff. Everyone was sweet and kind, and the manager frequently came by our table to make sure we were doing okay. The service has always been amazing, and that hasn’t changed.

I have great memories of coming here for years, which is why it was disappointing to see how much the food and portions have changed.”

The crew members for the past 10 years or so have been ethnically diverse. The food us always fresh, tasty and made to order. If correction needs to be done, they willingly correct without hesitation. The area is always tended to. The seating area and parking lot is adjacent city corner to a major intersection, making it difficult to enter and exit. Since this is located in Annandale and culturally versed to cater to the Korean experience of Annandale, at any given time you can find the well respected seniors of the community enjoying their meals and talk.”

I will say that the parking is not something I am a real fan of, as it is a gravel lot in the back, and sometimes there tends to be some unhoused people who like to hang out by the back so I wouldn't say it is the safest place to be, even if it is the middle of the afternoon when you go.”
