The bartender was welcoming, courteous, and helpful with drink and food recommendations. We tried a few new things based on his recommendations and all them were cooked to perfection and delicious. ViA VECCHiA is Portland, Maine was absolutely 10/10 on everything they did! We started with Meatballs, Whipped Ricotta & Grilled Octopus. The meatballs reminded me of my mothers, the ricotta was tremendous with truffle honey & sesame breadsticks and the octopus was grilled perfectly. One dish was better than the next. We shared ravioli with as an entree and we never felt gross like we ate too much. The portion sizes were PERFECT. Wrapped the night off with a espresso infused cheesecake over salted caramel. Wow. Staff was incredibly accommodating, professional and polite. Service was excellent! If youre ever in Portland, ME you must go get a meal here!”

Interesting flavors did not love. Quality preparation. Very few drink options if you aren’t drinking alcohol. Their menu rotates so maybe it’s better on a different menu.”

My daughter called from the tarmac in Boston where we were rerouted and refueled and explained the situation. The hostess, Susie, was very understanding and compassionate And said that even though our table was booked for another party a 7, we should come in and she would see what she could do. We got there late but Susie greeted us warmly and told us not to worry about being rushed that she had arranged things so no one would be inconvenienced. The atmosphere was warm and cozy; the food so very delicious and our waitperson, Anika, was the best. Atmosphere, impeccable service, food and warmth all rate 5 stars and another visit next time we are in Portland.”

The waitstaff was kind and helpful. The drinks were stellar, the atmosphere was perfect. Thank you so much to the whole staff at Ocotillo for helping us create an amazing night we will never forget. The biggest highlight was the duck fat poutine, and it’s totally worth adding the fried egg and the duck confit on top! The duck fat milkshakes were thick, creamy and so delicious. The ONLY reason I didn’t give the atmosphere 5 stars is because the inside has the stools fixed to the floor and you can’t move them, which makes it very hard for a larger individual to sit anywhere comfortably. Fortunately, we were able to move outside and sit where the chairs could be moved, and it was perfect!”

Even so, the quality of the baked goods makes it worth the stop if you’re prepared for a grab-and-go experience.”

“My husband and I had lunch here before an appointment nearby. This restaurant had delicious food. My husband ordered the Down east Ruben, which was made with deep fried haddock with Cole slaw piled high on the bun with melted cheese. He said it was delicious! I opted for the classic BLT. Again, the sandwich was delicious. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and ample bacon was piled on top. I watched a young man bus the tables. He was extremely thorough cleaning the tables and seating. He even washed the items on the table (salt & pepper shakers, ketchup and hot sauce bottles). This young man then set the tables for new customers. Being a bit of a clean freak, I appreciated this young man's work. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.”

“Let me first start by saying that I'm one of the very proud owners of Three of Strong Spirits, also located on Diamond St in Portland, Maine. I meandered down to this company and, upon introducing myself, the owner gifted me with a bag of Margaret P. Driver, a coffee which she has created in our rum barrels! So, what happens when you take the best rum made in Maine, or the world for that matter, and infuse it into quality coffee beans?????????????? You get an explosion of taste that will literally leave you speechless!! Here I thought our rum was incredible and mind-blowing all by itself, but this lovely lady who owns this company has taken it to the next level! The coffee is smooth and boozy. I am addicted!!!!!!!! I find myself at my home coffee bar simply inhaling the aromas from the bag! There are only two of us in this big house who drink coffee. Well, when I brew Margaret P. Driver, the 12-cup pot vanishes within seconds, with my housemate and me fighting for the very last drop! If the combination of our rum and their coffee isn't deadly enough for you, then try their frosted brownies!! OMG!! I nearly passed out eating them!! They are incredible!! The brownies also pair beautifully with the coffee!! Wow, wow, and wow!! I will be stopping in for more of the coffee infused with our rum on a regular basis!! Furthermore, I recommend that tourists stay on Diamond St for an entire day, not just for a few moments!! We have our bar, Three Of Strong Spirits, then there's Bite Into Maine, and the icing on the cake, Coffee By Design! Diamond St is the happening place to be!!”

“One of my favorite croissants that I have eaten. Really delicious flavour and flaky exterior. The inside was chewy and things were good. The almond croissant was also amazing and different from others I have had. It was like a snail with almond paste. I enjoyed that it wasn't super sweet and heavy like the twice-baked almond croissants soaked in simple syrup that i am used to. The rustic loaf that I have been slowly working through is also amazing. When I am in Portland again I will certainly be returning to try other breads and pastry. The server was very helpful and friendly which made the whole experience pleasant. The smell of fresh bread and pastry inside the bakery is intoxicating.”

“I am blown away by the food I ate last night at the Armory! I've come here for years for the fancy cocktails and one time I had an impressive charcuterie board but never came for dinner. I saw the Maine restaurant week menu and knew I had to visit. The bartender informed my husband and I that they have a new chef from Boston and let me tell you, he knows what he is doing! I had the seafood cakes to start and my husband had the arancini. Both were on point! For my main course I had the parsnip risotto. OMG! The risotto was cooked perfectly. It was creamy with a sweet sauce, some crunch, fresh spinach, salty Parmesan, just the right balance! My husband had the pappardelle bolognese which he loved. For dessert I had the raspberry cheesecake. It was rich and smooth with the perfect amount of sauce and fresh raspberries. My husband had the flourless chocolate torte and he devoured it. Our server recommended a bottle of Malbec which was delightful. A fantastic experience!”

“Had a chance to visit the Dry Dock recently as they were one of the opening venues hosting for Santacon! So much fun... they had the upstairs decorated and some great and friendly staff there serving up some lovely wines and beer too! “Last month our flight to Portland was delayed a considerable amount of time due to weather issues and it looked as though we would not be able to make our 5p.m. reservation. My daughter called from the tarmac in Boston where we were rerouted and refueled and explained the situation. The hostess, Susie, was very understanding and compassionate And said that even though our table was booked for another party a 7, we should come in and she would see what she could do. We got there late but Susie greeted us warmly and told us not to worry about being rushed that she had arranged things so no one would be inconvenienced. The atmosphere was warm and cozy; the food so very delicious and our waitperson, Anika, was the best. Their pizza selection was fantastic — lots of creative options and everything we tried was delicious. The brewery also offers beer flights, which was a great way to sample several of their brews. One standout was the Sea Dog Blueberry Beer with a sugar rim — such a unique and delicious touch that really made it memorable!
What really made our visit special was the owner’s hospitality. He was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome and comfortable. You can tell he truly cares about his customers and takes pride in what he does.

Had two milk teas that were both delicious (pearls were so fresh). They also have hot food and snacks — we ordered an egg tart and pork bun. Both so yummy.
On top of high quality food, the owners are so kind. It's family-owned and great addition to the area. 100% going to be our staple bubble tea spot.”

“Unreal sandwich — as messy as it is good. The North Shore didn’t stand a chance; I absolutely dummied it. Friendly staff, beer on tap, and a chill setup with a few tables but mostly bar seating and standing room. Never ate 8 ounces of beef so fast in my life. If you’re in Portland and craving a proper sandwich, Roasty’s is a must.”

“This place packs a punch for a hotel bar. The theming is great, there are multiple seating options (bar, couches, tables, lounge space) and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Sheila and Mena are standouts, always happy to share their Portland experience and mix up any drink you like. 100% recommend for hotel guests and locals alike.”

“I’ve eaten a lot of BBQ, from Texas to New York, and I smoke my own meats in the summer. This place really gets it. Atmosphere is perfect. Warm and friendly. And you get the feeling the people who work there are nice not just because they have to be, but because these are genuinely nice people. But the best part is that the food is awesome. Some BBQ places have great meats and the rest is just dressing. This place has great meats AND great sides. The hash potatoes especially (with Jamaican seasoning) are delectable. And after eating all I could I still took home 2 boxes for the next days lunch. If you like BBQ, or pub food in general, you will love this place. As a side they also have a great beer list.”

“Located on the ground floor of the Westin Harborview hotel, in Portland, this is the only alternative to the restaurant for a cup of coffee and a quick bit. Unfortunately, we found the hours were short, and it is not open every day. It is a small cafe, with no tables or chairs. You place your order, pay and get your coffee to go, The barista was very nice and did a good job preparing our coffees with care. There were two types of muffins and packaged coffee for sale, but that was it. No other choices for a quick bite, no sandwiches or other bakery goods.”
