“As a vegan believe it or not I struggle to have variety in Santa Cruz, the options are limited. Today I visited this European interior (like a Scandinavian cafe) amazing eatery n downtown Santa Cruz. The man that assisted me was extremely hospitable and helped navigate the vegan menu he offered me. The falafel had incredibly bright flavors and not only the first few bites but all the way through. The mango matcha was too die for and you guessed it vegan as well. Please visit this impressive place whether vegan or not”

“Okay - out The gate friendliest guy at the counter I’ve ever seen and not just personable, but funny, and he actually prevented me from ordering a wheat noodle dish in lieu of the soup that had a rice noodle saying that the wheat noodle tends to anchor people down and make it hard to stay mobile for the rest of the day, so I appreciated that you went with the rice noodle dish when it came out it looked very presentable and like I wanted to terror right into it first spite of each dish we have the Momos and the rice noodle soup with tofu both very vegetarian options but first bite of the soup and I was a fan. Somehow they made this tofu taste like a really tasty meat. I do not know how they accomplished that but they did and then the Momo’s hot I had to blow on it, however just bursting with flavor and I couldn’t sing enough praises about it.All the stars from merely two bites. I will be finishing all of this and be returning to River Cafe soon. As the GM of a popular local restaurant myself, I just love discovering local eateries that still know the value of customer service, high quality ingredients and executing each dish with careful precision. Hell yeah- River Cafe does it right. Just eat there, you’ll be stoked you did.”

“Emozioni Pasticceria made our wedding pastries and they were so delicious and perfect! We decided not to do a cake but do small pastries instead, and they were such a hit! We did a tasting where Chef Enzo prepared multiple pastries based on our preference. We ended up choosing the tarimisu, tart, cannoli, and cream puff. I wanted the pastries to have an Iranian flare, and although this is a traditional Italian bakery, Chef Enzo incorporated some Iranian flavors perfectly. Chef Enzo and Dan were so great and easy to work with. We will be going back often and ordering all our sweets from them from now on!”

“Gilman Brewing in Santa Cruz is absolutely amazing 🤩. The new menu is fire. I had the brussel sprouts which were delicious and farmhouse salad with steak. The salad was so good and adding the steak just made it the best meal.

Also, the harsh lighting was way too bright throughout the restaurant. I wanted my sunglasses on. Please read the room & tone down the lighting & warm the place up, then we’ll be back. Mahalo”

Sure, Zachary's is fantastic, but waiting for a seat and having a full sit down meal isn't always an option if you want to get to the monthly vintage fair before the crowds. Grab your bagel melt to-go and eat as you walk. Or, my personal favorite- the lox deluxe, but be sure to sub their house made pickled onions and grab a Natalie's Orchard juice to go with it.”

They also have an ATM if you forget to bring your cash. There’s only 2 downsides that don’t make it a complete 5/5 review for me and it’s that the parking lot spaces are pretty tight. So if someone’s bad at parking, then good luck trying to open your doors. There’s usually always a homeless person wondering inside using the bathroom for a half hour. Which is fine it doesn’t bother me but something to be mentioned. Other than those two factors I love it here! A plus is having a market next door if you want a snack while you wait or grab a bite at the taqueria across the street.”

“At first when we checked in, there wasn't anyone in front to receive us. All employees are busy and since we were not staying at the hotel we had to initiate the conversation. Once seated, Rainbow took over, I mean literally. Rainbow is the cool bartender, waiter, all things Bar and restaurant and he manages really well. Anyway, he took our order and had a nice conversation with all four of us and made the effort to interact with all of us. We loved his energy and he certainly was looking to give us a great dinning experience- which we appreciate! We got to know Rainbow and he got to know us as well and I think he is a good part of the dinning experience that makes you want to come back and they also had great food. I ordered the chilaquiles, my sons the steak and eggs, the Benedict and my wife order light dish. The cheesy tots were unreal as well for the table. All plates were certainly stacked and the food was fabulous and with great presentation! We will certainly be back”

“Nina ROCKS!!! We wandered in on a whim and she did not disappoint! This place is the best little dive/ hip spot but you’d never imagine just walking by. The atmosphere is chill and fun, she made us feel completely welcome and we met some of the regulars. She turned the whole place into a Karaoke party and the whole bar got into the vibe. We ended up staying until the next shift came on and late into the night. These guys and gals really know how to show you a good time. The cocktails were great and the prices were really decent. “We started with the bread and butter, and the honey butter was absolutely amazing. It had that delicious, homemade quality that made it the star of the dish. While the bread itself could use a little improvement, the honey butter was so good that it elevated everything. I can only imagine how incredible it would be paired with some warm, freshly baked sourdough rolls or another quality sourdough bread — that combination would be truly outstanding!
For our main courses, we ordered the lamb and the halibut, and both were cooked to perfection. The flavors were excellent, and you could really tell that care went into the preparation and presentation of each dish.
Our server was also wonderful. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name, but she was attentive without being overbearing, checked on us regularly, and was incredibly accommodating throughout our meal. Her service really added to the overall experience.
Overall, Mane’s Kitchen made a fantastic first impression. Between the beautifully prepared food, attentive service, and those unforgettable honey butter flavors, we’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu. Highly recommended!”
