The service is very attentive and friendly. The only downside is that it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends when the lines are long.”

I even loved the fresh pita and dipping sauce that was complimentary. From the manager and many servers, everyone was pleasant and friendly throughout my time there. I went during happy hour so the specials were great during that time. I’m definitely returning to this Mediterranean restaurant for sure. I loved it.”

“I've been going to Pieloon for a few years now and it is THE BEST restaurant in Downey! The food is always fabulous, the portions are large, the service is perfect! I've had appetizers, salads, pastas, steaks, burgers, sandwiches (I'm addicted to the BLT) and many of their specials. My family and I go now 2x a week and have trouble deciding what to get because it's all so good! And the pies...their pumpkin pie is the best I've ever had and the blueberry cheesecake is fabulous...but just wait until fresh peach pie season...I'll gain weight just thinking about it...the fresh peach is the best pie I've ever, EVER had! I love this place and the people who work there!! They're like family now!”

“I spotted this place while driving to See’s Candies and decided to give it a try, so glad I did. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was on point. We were greeted right away, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming, homey vibe.

The menu selection is solid. We ordered the beef gyro and the chicken souvlaki plate. The beef gyro was very tasty, the meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The chicken souvlaki was also delicious, but the real standout for me was the hummus. It’s made in-house, and you can absolutely tell, creamy, warm, and honestly one of the best hummus dishes I’ve had.

It even brought back memories of Papa Cristo back in Mid-City LA, that’s how good it was. If you’re craving quality Mediterranean food, don’t pass this gem up.”

“Its my first time here, I got the pistachio, $5.95 for the small cone and the amount they gave me is amazing about 3 scoops especially the pistachios i was chewing for days and i loved it!

Compared to michocana, where they want to charge $4 for one scoop and that scoop is so small it’s as if i was asking for it to be free. I see why the lines can get heavy, its high quality, many flavors to choose from and a great price.”

“I ordered the cinnamon oat latte, and I'm usually not a fan of oatmilk but it was balanced so well against the espresso and the cinnamon that it didn't dominate the flavor. It was a very smooth drink, not too sweet, not too bitter, and not too strong.

My wife got the strawberry matcha latte, and while the matcha was of a decent grade and quality, the strawberry isn't a puree, nor is it like a strawberry creme or milk added in, it's an additive in powder form and she doesn't tend to like that.

Their chocolate croissant, which we shared, was heated up as requested, it came with a line of melted chocolate drizzle on top, which I think was similar to Nutella but less thick in terms of consistency. It was also topped with powder sugar, and it had an inserted line of darker chocolate, maybe 65%, so pretty balanced against the sweetness of everything else involved.

The area the cafe is located in is nice, it's a large promenade with several nicer restaurants (it's also sort of attached to it's restaurant counterpart) and there's plenty to walk around and get some shopping done or walk off the drinks and baked sweets. Plenty of parking as well, and the mall itself is only a block or two north from the cafe.”

“My husband and I went there tonight, for Valentine's Day. We had the Steak/Salmon special. This ribeye was the BEST steak I've had in my life. So tender and so tasty!!! The salmon was wonderful, so delicious! I totally recommend their food. Yes, their prices are high, but you're getting the best food possible. And, really, on a special occasion, it's worth it to enjoy delicious food and great service!! Thank you, Verdugos, for a great Valentine's dinner!! “My wife and I realized that we had not thought to stop here in quite a while and so we stopped for lunch today and we were immediately reminded why we like the food here so much. I like the chicken kabob wrap and my wife typically gets the chicken bowl. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is consistently good. Last thing we tried was the Big E sushi roll, not bad but not as good at The Emperor!! 😍😍😍 Big E has cooked salmon on top so it does taste alot like fish 🐟 (yes i know its sushi) but a reminder for those who only like a slight fish taste!

As i walked in i was greeted by young lady and was offered to sit where i pleased. I look through the menu and ordered Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Mexico City Roll. Both rolls were delicious and i really enjoyed every bite of it. Love how the rice shrimp and all the flavors just combined and was very tasteful. Also the miso soup was also good and their hot green tea naturally was just good. For sure will go back again i love their sushi and for sure will be coming back.”

“After a rainy day, been craving Korean fried chicken. Took my friend here today (their first time) and I’ve only been to the Fullerton location so in comparison, this spot is smaller. Less crowded but food came faster, so that’s a plus. They didn’t serve the chicken wings in a sampler where you can pick and choose variety of flavors (as I saw in the picture), so a bit bummed about that. The menu look a lot different than Fullerton’s (just a heads up). But nonetheless, this time around, the highlight is the gim ballad. Loved the crispy and savoryness of the flavor. Didn’t need sauces on the side, tastes great on its own. Also got original popcorn chicken and pair that with the lemon curry pepper rub is bomb! Also, the TNT sauce on the side is a must try. Too spicy for me but flavor-wise it’s great. Welcomed by our server and was guided on what’s best in terms of menu. Overall, a great experience for my friend and I. Plan to visit again for other menu items!”

“A friend recommended this place to me and I'm glad I listened. He also told me to request libny as a server and luckily did not have to since she happened to serve us. She recommended us the sweet Thai wings and they were delicious. She wouldn't let us leave without trying the banana Nutella empanadas and I'm glad my wife and I listened. I would go back for sure.”

“I have only been here once but it was so delicious. I can't go crazy with the sweets so I asked for easy lechera, no jam on my berry filled crepe. It was then topped with whipped cream. Perfectly balanced dessert. I look forward to returning.”

“Came when it was empty and most recently when it was raining and the place was packed. Atmosphere was great both times! When it was packed, we only waited less than 5 minutes. Very attentive service and amazing food!”

“Pleasantly surprised. I was a little bummed because they're were out of everything I wanted, but that's what happens when you show up 40min before closing I guess 😅. Ultimately, the expectation was met, the bowl was still fantastic, nothing tasted old, the miso was good. I'll be back.

“Tried Shake Shack recently and overall it was a good experience, just a bit on the pricey side. Luckily, they had a BOGO deal that day, which made it more worth it but it was a combo of a burger and a chicken sandwich.

The burger was honestly the highlight—juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you’d expect. Definitely lived up to the hype. The chicken sandwich, though, wasn’t as impressive. It felt pretty average and didn’t stand out compared to the burger.

If anything, they really shine with their burgers, so I’d probably stick to that next time. Still a solid spot, just be ready to spend a little more.”
