“Long post ahead, warning! I walked in around 9 pm and the hostess didn't bat an eye at my dining alone, and didn't say anything about it, which I appreciate. I was seated right away with no problems and immediately got a chance to look over the menu. I will admit, it took a little bit longer than expected for my waiter to come over, but as a lone diner I sort of expected that. I looked like I was waiting for someone, I'm sure. The look and feel of the place was very upscale, but they didn't have any problems with me walking in wearing a nerdy t-shirt. I was seated in this cute little booth for 2 with curtains on the side so, if I wanted a more private dinner, I could have it. It was a cute touch! The restaurant also offered patio dining and since it's by the creek, that would have been a downright charming experience were it not the usual Maryland summer. Despite having a bar, the restaurant was respectably quiet and low-key, making it an easy dining experience. I wasn't in the mood for something wild, and this place really hit the nail on the head. My first waiter Kevin, however, was the picture of polite helpfulness. He answered all of my questions, made some wonderful suggestions, and was incredibly pleasant to talk to. I was delighted to find out that this place takes part in DC restaurant week, so I was able to take part in that promotion. Under a suggestion from Kevin, I ordered a glass of their moscato (I wanted something light and sweet), and the wine was so good I brought home a whole bottle. Not really on them, but it does reflect their excellent selection. Dinner itself was delicious. The red pepper soup was refreshing and flavorful, without being too filling. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and was flavored in the perfect way to make the actual flavor of the meat shine. The potatoes were both light and fluffy, but also had the little chunks of potato that I prefer in my mashed. The best part was desert. About halfway through my appetizer, Kevin introduced my other waiter, Maddy, who took over after he went home. She was as much of a delight as he was, and made possibly the best recommendation of the night. Desert was this blackberry tart that I did not have room for but could not put down. Gooey and crumbly all at once, with a warm center that was almost caramel-y even though it was fruit based. Topped with a light cream to balance it all out, it was absolutely delicious. I will be thinking of that tart all day tomorrow. The prices on the menu were a little high, but I wouldn't go so far to say they were unreasonable. If I had wanted a cheaper option, I could have gone to any chain restaurant ever. In the grand scheme of downtown Frederick, with it's many small businesses and one of a kind dining experiences, I think this was reasonable. For reference, a lot of meals were between $20 and $30, but a good steak is almost always $30+. Despite the price, I had an exceptional dining experience, and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale dining, without the upscale requirements.”

I spent my day trying to decide where I wanted to go to celebrate and decided on Red Lobster just before leaving out to go to Texas Roadhouse. On the way home we all decided Red Lobster was a great pick. I recommend that you try it also.”

I had to change the time of my reservation while already at the restaurant due to late arrival of the others in my group. They graciously switched the reservation . Enrico was very helpful with a few other concerns I had about my group. The bartender was friendly and made an amazing drink while I waited for my company to arrive . Our waiter Marcello was wonderful and the food was melt in your mouth delicious ! They also have gluten free pasta and pizza dough in case someone in your group is gluten free. Can’t say enough about this restaurant that makes you feel like you are part of the family !”

Our wait staff was excellent. And the atmosphere is also excellent. It was our first time for dinner. We'd been numerous times for lunch and will limit ourselves to lunch in the future.”

“Where do I even begin? The pita? Perfect texture and taste. The cherry tomatoes? Obviously fresh, juicy, and sourced from a great farm. The romain? Plentiful and CRISP. The Dill and Taziki sauce? Also VERY fresh, has a citrus kick somewhere, and seems to be made fresh as well. Because it doesn't taste like a store bought sauce filled with preservatives. The hummus? That might actually be where the citrus is from. However, the hummus is not overly salty! You can actually taste the Chickpeas and they use good ingredients as well as olive oil for the hummus too! The chicken? Is in NO way shape or form dry and it's actually seasoned! It's juicy and normal is it overcooked. The olives? Brothers and sisters I HATE olives by themselves, rarely on certain foods. But these olives are not overpowering and stealing the flavor profile, it just adds more depth to the flavor bomb of the Greek chicken Pita! The feta? What could be bettah? Seriously though if you can see this picture you should've seen that they don't skip on the feta either. Again the flavor is ALL the way there but not overpowering. While the texture is almost creamy. Probably with assistance from the sauce but still, it's not overly dry! 10/10 Would recommend & I will be back! Now the facility was spotless, the cleanest "fast food" I've ever seen. The staff? Phenomenonal, personable, kind, attentive to details, and downright superstars that make that place run like clockwork! Wooooo wo weeeee wo!!! If you haven't been here then you've got to go!! Moderate prices, exceptional ingredients, lovely staff, and clean facilities(where the staff actually care like the NW Expressway location in OKC). I'm out, ty for listening to my Ted talk! 🫡”

Service was decent for a new place but still it was a little slow. The food was quite good. One of us had Chicken Marsala which was very good but it didn't have a traditional marsala sauce. Whatever it was, it was tasty. The other had Veal Parm. It was also quite good but the pasta sauce had an unusual flavor that was slightly off-putting We would be happy to return and try some other dishes but for one factor: Fox News on the TV in the bar. Watch it at home if you like but don't make me watch it.”

The entrees were expertly prepared with flavorful sauces and seasonings; however, the table received little attention during the meal. “Crumbl Cookies is one of those places that instantly grabs your attention, from the rotating weekly menu to the warm, fresh cookies that hit you with that amazing smell as soon as you walk in. The cookies themselves are super soft, thick, and packed with flavor—definitely more of a rich, dessert-style treat than your average cookie. Some flavors are incredible and feel really unique, while others can be a bit overly sweet, so it kind of depends on what you pick that week.
The presentation is also a big plus—the pink box and neatly arranged cookies make it feel a little more special, almost like a gift to yourself. However, the price is on the higher side compared to regular bakeries, which might not make it an everyday stop for everyone. Overall, Crumbl is worth trying if you’re looking for something indulgent and fun, especially if you enjoy switching things up with new flavors each week.”

As someone that loves cakes, I was so looking forward to trying Sage on my wedding day and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of their cakes. My husband generally doesn’t like cake as much, but even he loved the ones they made for us. The blackberry sage was a huge hit, and the decoration on the cake could not have been more stunning. It was exactly what we asked for and more. They worked with us too to add a topper my mom made for us and it looked perfect on top of the beautiful cake. We can’t wait to get another cake from them on our anniversary!”

I don't like wood fired pizza but I sat next to them for several hours and finally the amazing smells coming from this truck got the better of me. The pizza was perfectly cooked but perhaps best of all was served at a temperature that I could eat almost immediately instead of like most places where pizza is served at the tempersture of molten lava. We had plenty of space reserved inside. The doors were open since it was beautiful weather and we also enjoyed the outdoor seating and flexibility of being able to get our own drinks while catching up. My favorite menu items have been the lentil sliders and the flatbread pizzas. I’ve also been there to get work done on quiet weekdays for meetings, and have enjoyed other events they host like Historians on Tap and karaoke nights. Overall great place and lovely owners! They often partner with local nonprofits and charities each month and is great to see ongoing community support in this way. It will remain in my rotation of Frederick spots for sure!”

“Delicious and authentic Chinese rice noodles. I ordered the golden soup with mushrooms and my partner ordered the mala spicy soup. Both were delicious. Mala spicy soup was nice and spicy and flavorful and the golden soup and perfectly slightly sour. We had the cucumber salad which was delicious and the soup dumplings, which he said were really good. Great vegetarian options and amazing service. They even have a loyalty card. Will definitely return when in town.”

“I just finished reading VERA WONG'S UNSOLICITED ADVICE FOR MURDERERS, and all the food Vera makes had me Googling the best place for Chinese Buns, since I've never had any before and the food in the book made me so hungry! There aren't any places near me, so we drove 40 minutes out to Frederick to eat at THE UGLY DUMPLING, and it did not disappoint! The food was AMAZING! I got the UD Bun sampler to try all the different buns Vera makes in the novel, and my kids wanted the Chicken Stir Fry Noodles. My husband ordered Orange Chicken and Fried Rice with Chicken, and we also ordered some Spring Rolls. When I tell you it was more food than I expected, I mean our table was overflowing! I tried the Taro, Mushroom, BBQ, Custard, and Scallion Buns, and Scallion and Custard were my favorite--my 2 year old loved them, too! So soft, like a pillow, and delicious! We brought home enough food to eat again tomorrow, and I'm so excited for it! This was an amazing dining experience, and we're already planning our next excursion back! Highly recommend!”

“We can’t recommend Sandbox Brewhouse enough! We reserved the space for our rehearsal dinner because we wanted a venue that allowed dogs and let us bring our own catering, and we could not have asked for a better time. Our guests absolutely loved the indoor/outdoor setup. The Sandbox staff was extremely helpful and accommodating, and booking with Suni was incredibly easy. She was super responsive and communicative throughout the process. Plus, being able to play our own playlist was a huge bonus. Everyone loved the beer selection and the non-alcoholic options, too!”

The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion—festive, warm, and welcoming. The service was top-notch—from being greeted at the front door to our waiter checking in often to make sure everyone was taken care of. The service is order taking, payment, and anything else you may need. Atmosphere: it’s a taco truck with 3-4 picnic tables. They were clean and well kept, the staff was super nice.
The food though, amazing. We live in Colorado so we do have high expectations for tacos and they were exceeded. I would hands down go out of my way to go back there.”

“Ordered a kabob platter at the Maryland sheep and wool festival. We were down there all weekend from NC showing sheep. We ate at several vendors over the weekend but THIS one was the best. The lamb kabobs (the platter came with 2) were perfectly grilled - tender, flavorful, delicious. The rice was also tasty, my favorite part was the pickled (onion? Cabbage? It was purple). The hummus was also wonderful. Garlicky but not too strong. Wish we lived closer because I would totally come visit this food truck again (and often)! I also got a box of baklava and it was perfect! Based on the prices of similar restaurants and food trucks down here in NC, the kabob platter was reasonably priced (with a lot in there - two of us split the plate and didn’t eat it all), and the baklava was a steal!”
