“We were celebrating a mini reunion and a birthday and decided to go to Nicks on State as it is our favorite place to celebrate special events. Riley, , our servet, was very attentive and took excellent care of us. The food was delicious. We had 2 orders of the fried asparagus as a starter with our cocktails. I have to say that the ends were a little tough during this visit but still acceptable; definitely could be better. I had the panko crusted chicken piccata and the dish met every expectation; from the lemon sauce to the breading and the capers, delicious. My daughter had the ribs and my son-in-law had the bistro salad with ribeye. Portions are large enough to satisfy your appetite and all guests were happy with their selections. For dessert we had the butter cake as a birthday dessert and we had to stop ourselves from licking the plate. All our drinks were expertly made from the Bloody Mary to the wine and then the lattes, espresso and cappuccino. We will definitely be back! Thank you Riley and Nick's for making our family time special.”

I got the Chocolate Covered Strawberries flavor which was absolutely delicious! Joe brought it out from inside and his friendly service made the visit even better. I’ll definitely be back!”

“The ice cream here is so good. Ordered vanilla, black cherry, coffee chocolate chip, black raspberry chunk, strawberry, and mango. We were not disappointed. My daughter is very particular about her mango ice cream, or rather sorbet, and this is a top two spot so far. Good mango is hard to come by and this is top tier. Customer service was great as well. Guys were patient with us not being familiar with the menu. No inside seating but plenty of benches outside to sit on. Serving sizes were big. Excellent ice cream. Definitely recommend. We've been two nights in a row if that is any indication of how good the ice cream is.”

“We were in the mood for Vietnamese food and came across this spot online, it was my mom’s first time trying it. We mentioned this to the gentleman helping us and he gave some suggestions. We got a vermicelli noodle bowl and an order of pho. Our food came quick and the portions were generous, he even gave my mom a small bowl of pho broth to try on the side. We LOVED it! Very light but still super flavorful. My mom ate every bite—she was very happy with her meal! The man who helped us was very attentive and checked up on us frequently to make sure we were enjoying everything. At the end of our meal he gave us a Thai tea to try as well and it was also yummy!
He mentioned that this is a local, family owned business and these are the types of establishments we love to support.
The place is small but cozy and extremely clean. You can tell they take cleanliness seriously, which we appreciate.

There was a place for women to store their bags without putting them on the floor. The food was absolutely breathtaking. From the sashimi that melts in your mouth, the appetizers that start the meal just right, the rolls you can’t find anywhere else to your classic favorites, the drinks that are exceptional, to the desserts that you just don’t want to stop at one, this place will not disappoint! I don’t think I can ever go to another sushi restaurant again after this meal! If you ever want to see heaven on earth in a restaurant, be sure to book a reservation so you do not miss out!!!”

I read through the bad reviews and happy to share some advice. As far as wait time, it’s to be expected for this type of dining. I went in with the expectation of waiting, just check in and they will text when ready. As far as the quality, everything tasted fresh!! You get a full plate of veggies with tons of oils, sauces, and spice to add to your broth. Make sure to ask questions about the broth, some are simple so that you can add your preferred flavors. It seems like this isn’t a typical traditional hot pot set up and I’m totally okay with it. I actually enjoyed having my own pot and I was able to eat the entire thing.
Paid a little more for the premium meat, ribeye and short rib… I regret NOTHING! I guess I’m only sad that I didn’t have more of their pumpkin slices - pairs so well with the meat!!”

“Revolution Roasters is a great place if you need some peace, comfort and a good cup of coffee. My boyfriend and I came to the cafe today with some friends who were visiting California.
We agreed that it was the perfect spot to get coffee and food to start our day before giving them a tour of SD. I've had different types of toast/pastries throughout SD/North County and this place has some of the best. Not only was everything refreshing but all the flavors were complimentary.
Additionally, the service was amazing. Everyone there was so kind and inviting. The food did take a bit of time to get to our table but it was worth it. Plus, the drinks were ready very quickly.”

I always get the seared ahi as one of my proteins, which comes in thick wedges. The servings are generous, a regular size bowl is easily two meals for me. The staff here is friendly, the fish is fresh, the location is right across the street from the beach, and they serve beer here too. What's not to love?”

One caveat to this place is there was no one outside so we didn't valet because there were no valet people and we had elderly people in our party we just parked in the parking Atleast there wasn't a charge for it...we just walked over after parking across the way but there is no one giving directions out front. The other thing was the food was great but it was very small as it is with most fancy restaurants .. so when it said it's on a bed of rice or a bed of spinach it was actually very tiny with little tiny cut up spinach within the rice. It was very Gourmet and very good but it's suffered from the small plate syndrome. The cooking was fabulous and also the wait staff is fabulous and the greeters once you're inside are fabulous and the atmosphere is fabulous and the lighting is perfect and there was live music and I would give it a 4.5 stars or 4.7 stars but I think you need to have some outside directions or valet or somebody outside to tell people where to park because that was confusing and maybe add a little tiny bit more to your plates and you'll be a five star!!”

“The kids buffet is like $14, which is the same price as a kids meal at most places around legoland. The adult buffet is like $25 or $27ish (definitely less than $30). This includes a self-serve, all-you-can-eat buffet with fountain drink, salad bar, pasta, and pizza.
The buffet and tables are a bit chaotic since it’s a free for all (you find your own table and people/kids leave a mess on the tables).
The other diners at the restaurant can be gross, like touching food and not using the buffet utensils properly. Like, a lot of the diners are kids since duh it’s legoland. But still.
If you have celiac or a food allergy, tell the host or cashier. Michael (the cook handling allergy/celiac meals) came out to discuss options with me. He was fantastic! He offered to make a gluten-free pizza (cheese, meat lovers, veggie, etc.) that takes ~8 minutes. He also offered GF pasta, though it would take ~30 minutes since they boil it in fresh, uncontaminated water (a good sign!).
Michael made me a delicious GF pizza—thin crust, balanced toppings, and clearly made with care. I also asked if he could make a safe salad since the salad bar is a gluten nightmare (cross-contamination everywhere). He brought out a beautiful, tasty salad and even offered a box for my leftovers.

Check in being outside is weird but doable. But we saw loads of people sneaking in from the inside and finding their own seat. No one was watching the exit for that.

Dinner was much better than expected!! We only did one night, and even at the discounted price was $80 for two adults and two kids! While we enjoyed the food, we elected to get other dinner our other nights for much cheaper.
Almost no service, just being seated and then plates cleared.
One of the employees got after a family for standing in the walk-in line, even though there was indeed a clearly labeled walk-in line and then doubled down after folks explained this. That was uncomfortable for everyone around and was unprofessional.
Multiple types of hot food is lukewarm at best. That's probably the biggest critique I have.”

When we walked into the restaurant, (early 8:00 am) for breakfast, there was a table that had already been serviced with about 14-16 people. Michael, the manager was already taking their order. When he was finished taking their order, he came over to our table to take ours. He told us that there was a large table before us, so it might be a while before we received our order. Surprisingly enough, within in 10 minutes!, no lie, the large table was being served their orders and at the SAME time, our order came out as well. I don’t know how they do it. My daughter is very particular about her mango ice cream, or rather sorbet, and this is a top two spot so far. Good mango is hard to come by and this is top tier. Customer service was great as well. Guys were patient with us not being familiar with the menu. No inside seating but plenty of benches outside to sit on. Serving sizes were big. Excellent ice cream. Definitely recommend. We've been two nights in a row if that is any indication of how good the ice cream is.”
