Edit - My one qualm is that one time, my partner ordered a burger and while two of our burgers came out, he had to wait nearly 45 minutes for his. I’m still going to come back, but that was a bit surprising and disappointing and I hope that doesn’t happen again! I really like the atmosphere!”

It was a massive mistake - my wife and I thought we would 'give it a try' and I am kicking myself for all the times we drove into DC from Silver Spring looking for a fun place to eat! From the moment we met Aidan Rinehart the GM, until we received and paid the check, we were blown away by the vibey atmosphere, the speed of delivery and the great tasting and well presented food. Alyssa, our server, deserves a special mention for her knowledge of the products, her attentive but unobtrusive service and exceptional friendliness. She is an absolute asset to Zinnia and we hope that she'll be there for as long as we patronise ZInnia, and it is well worth patronising. We look forward to trying the dinner menu, but we will definitely be back for a repeat 'Tavern' experience as well Compliments to the owner, GM, chef and staff - see you all again soon!”

The front of house staff was very friendly and seated my party immediately. The waitress took no time at all to get our drinks and come back with them and take our complete order. We put everything in at the same time and they did an excellent job of pacing the salads, appetizers, and main meal. The food was absolutely fantastic and gorgeous to look at. I will be returning so we can sit for a hibachi show! The only thing is I slyly mentioned it was my birthday hoping to get a song, but that did not happen lol.”

“I am part Polish. My great grandmother came from there to Ellis Island in 1906. She raised my Mother who is now in an assisted living environment less than 1 mile away from this place. I am always looking for little things to help brighten her day when I visit several times a week. Polka Deli in has proven to be an ideal solution and helping me meet that goal. My earliest memories are eating freshly made pierogies and kielbasa in my great grandmothers kitchen with my mom and others. Enjoying the amazing food and snacks I’ve picked up here helps both of us during these very difficult times as she is confined to a bed over 90% of the time. She only eats a few bites so my diet is not improving but getting the smile from her and as we drift in and out of memories together is priceless.”

“Soo, this is an unconventional review, because I was mentioning to someone how much I was craving some god jollof rice and they recommended this place and another… and imagine my surprise when they were at the Hst festival! I hopped in line, waited (amongst a crowd) for about 10-15 mins… they did have a fluid operation going for an outdoor event, so I can only imagine what a dine in experience is like! Very impressive.
But, can’t compare prices because it was an event… but the 2 items I got were definitely pricey and flavorful!
And probably enough for 2 people to have some sides if you chose a meat entree (which I didn’t), just the 2 sides (which would classify as vegetarian, Macn cheese and the jollof ( possibly vegan, not sure if the rice was boiled in a broth?)
The Jollof: The rice was very different, can’t explain the grain used, it’s very small, reminiscent of a tiny couscous… I’m told they use something similar in Hati, but with the other flavors and veggies with the grilled onions on top, it was just right.
But I was informed the Senegalese do jollof different.
So yes on the very different, but equally yes on the flavor, though different also, it was hints that are familiar while taking their own spin on it.
Will be on the lookout for them if I’m ever close to that side of Maryland.”

“Again, a fabulous dinner at District Bistro. Because it was Valentine's Day, there was a fixed-price menu: $65 for three courses. I started with the 1/2 dozen oysters (a treat!) and my partner had the house-smoked salmon with caviar. Both were delicious, but the salmon was a special surprise, topped with thinly sliced kumquats and capers; it was an unexpected taste sensation! I chose scallops for my main course--I almost always get them here, and they never disappoint. They were perfectly cooked and served over a warm black lentil salad. My partner chose the lamb chops that came with a tasty harissa-eggplant sauce. They were tender and cooked just right--a little pink in the center. For dessert, I had the kumquat and pistachio creme brulee. I wasn't sure about my choice, but it ended up being delightful. The creme was rich, but not too heavy and the crust on the top was caramelized perfectly. My husband had pear pecan sticky pudding--yum. We had been tempted to go elsewhere for Valentine's Day because District Bistro tends to be our go-to. I am glad we didn't!!”

The cabbage was amazing. Would definitely order again. The chickpea option was not good, and lentil option was mid.
Service and food was very slow.

She liked her salad but I wasn't impressed with my selection. It was indeed a hearty portion but did have much flavor. The spicy Aoil is what gave it elevation. As a native New Yorker with real Jamaican roots, I’ve had my fair share of Jamaican food, but this spot truly stands out. The patty was hands down the best I’ve had in Maryland flaky crust, rich filling, and seasoned to perfection. It reminded me of home.
The curry goat? Absolutely incredible. Tender, well-seasoned, and cooked just right it fell off the bone and was bursting with authentic flavor. The jerk pork was smoky, spicy, and juicy, exactly how jerk is supposed to taste. Every bite was a reminder of how Jamaican food should be done.
Petrena deserves a special shoutout. From the refreshing sorrel to the sweetest mangoes, she delivered service with a smile and made the whole experience even better. She’s a star and really brought everything together.

From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with amazing service, accommodated for our large party and assisting my father with handicapped access. I had the pleasure of being served by two wonderful staff members, Y and E, who were not only beautiful inside and out but also incredibly courteous, attentive, and genuinely caring. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable and had an exceptional dining experience.
The food is simply superb — rich in flavor, fresh, and beautifully prepared. To make the experience even more special, they always have Ethiopian music playing, which adds to the lively and entertaining atmosphere.
