“Finding a hidden gem after a long day of touring is always a win, and Quarry House Tavern delivered exactly what we needed. It is a fantastic, relaxed basement dive bar with a great, chilled-out vibe. The bartender was friendly, and the regular prices are very reasonable—but if you hit their happy hour, the prices are absolutely incredible. The food is also decent and hits the spot. Just keep your eyes open when looking for it, as it is on the side of the building and you have to walk down some steps into the basement. If you are in the area, it is absolutely worth a stop!”

Definitely, a lot of vegan or trendy dishes but nothing popped out. She settled on the Beet Salad with Salmon and I a chicken sandwich with home fries. She liked her salad but I wasn't impressed with my selection. It was indeed a hearty portion but did have much flavor. The spicy Aoil is what gave it elevation. The fries were very oily and didn't have any salt. I only ate the bottom half with toppings and 1 fry. The Witches Brew was strong but needed to be microwaved. I wouldn't come back but I hear it's a neighborhood watering hole. Maybe the weekend brunch or pizza offering is better.”

Mildred, the host was very pleasant I could see her smile through her mas. Jocelyn the server was outstanding! She honored every request from fresh coffee,well done bacon and so on! The workers are only as good as their leader. Thank Franco for such an awesome staff and experience. I would this Ihop 100 stars for 100 percent on customer service and delicious food!”

“This Taco Bell is my 24 hour go to!! The food is excellent & the staff is perfectly friendly. They serve alcohol too but I haven’t had any of it. People seem to enjoy it though. The location is perfect for concert goers as it’s directly next to The Fillmore. I however try to start my day here with breakfast most days. It’s delicious & a perfect eating out treat while sticking with a daily budget. Each Tuesday they have their “Tuesday Drops” through their app & while sometimes they offer limited edition merch usually they’re offering $1 special menu item ranging from Mexican Pizza to Nacho Fries to whatever is newest on the menu. I hope to be one of their loyal regulars maybe even forever. ;-)”

When you come to Poke Bowl you are welcomed by the friendly staff and you are entering one of the cleanest establishments my husband and I have ever experienced. It was a massive mistake - my wife and I thought we would 'give it a try' and I am kicking myself for all the times we drove into DC from Silver Spring looking for a fun place to eat! From the moment we met Aidan Rinehart the GM, until we received and paid the check, we were blown away by the vibey atmosphere, the speed of delivery and the great tasting and well presented food. Alyssa, our server, deserves a special mention for her knowledge of the products, her attentive but unobtrusive service and exceptional friendliness. She is an absolute asset to Zinnia and we hope that she'll be there for as long as we patronise ZInnia, and it is well worth patronising. We look forward to trying the dinner menu, but we will definitely be back for a repeat 'Tavern' experience as well Compliments to the owner, GM, chef and staff - see you all again soon!”

The bread was such a great consistency, better than the best cornbread. I had the carne asada, and it was so fresh and delicious. All of the food was very authentic! I even tried a new drink, not alcoholic, it was like a tea that was cold but somewhat spicy. It was delicious !! We will definitely be going back for another round ;-) Service was very quick and polite as well.”

“My first time being to this restaurant although I have been experienced in Ethiopian food many times before and my family is also from there , when I first sat down, I wanted a beef sambusa but was guided to chicken wings instead and I did feel a bit offended as a black woman, it seemed as though the server (who I assume is her daughter) just assumed maybe I didn’t know anything about their food but I still thought it was a little rude but kept dining in.
Everything in terms of food was delicious, I had to ask for my sambusa again and a spoon and fork which I felt should be on the table anyway because not everyone will eat the whole thing with their hands but for the most part I understood and enjoyed the experience
I didn’t like how it wasn’t mentioned gratuity was included within the check so my meal was a lot more than what I had planned for but thankfully I had enough. I asked her about it (the younger one, assuming she’s the other woman I mentioned daughter) and she couldn’t even explain to me what gratuity was. I’m not trying to be offensive but I just feel if that is the policy it should be stated because otherwise it’ll leave you feeling scammed. I did feel a little taken advantage of given they possibly never seen me around but again if it has always been that they include gratuity, I have no issues, I just wish it was mentioned”

My only complaint is that I wish there were more variety in what’s included with the meals. The “bowl,” for example, is literally your choice of meat with shredded onions—no rice or other side—which I found a little misleading.
I ordered the chicken wings and suya combo for $38, and it came with exactly that: chicken wings, beef suya, and shredded onions. The amount of meat was definitely generous, but quite a few pieces of the beef suya were fatty. So I’m still going back and forth on whether I feel like $38 was worth it. 😂
That being said, the flavor was REALLY good, and I enjoyed the food overall. There’s limited street parking, but I didn’t have much trouble finding a spot.

Island Quizine turned out to be a great stop.
I arrived shortly after they opened, which was definitely a good thing.
I had passed by a couple of days earlier around lunchtime, and the line was out the door.
After this visit, now I know why.
The restaurant was clean and welcoming.
An associate was restocking the beverage machine when I arrived, but I was promptly greeted and able to place my order.
I was initially the only person dining in, but that quickly changed.
About 45 minutes later, every table was occupied and there was a line of customers waiting to order.
I ordered the Large Jerk Chicken with White Meat, along with rice and peas, fried plantains, cabbage, and a beef patty.
My food was ready in less than five minutes.
I started with the beef patty.
The golden pastry had a satisfying crust with a savory, well-seasoned beef filling and just enough spice to give it a flavorful kick.
Then came the jerk chicken (nice, generous chunks of white meat that were flavorful, juicy, tender, and piping hot).
The spice level was medium and perfect for me - well seasoned without being overly spicy.
There was an additional charge for white meat, which I didn’t mind given my preference.
The rice and peas were flavorful and well seasoned, with a savory Caribbean flavor and hearty texture that complemented the chicken nicely.
The fried plantains were sweet and tender with lightly caramelized edges - the perfect balance of soft, sweet, and savory.
The cabbage provided a nice contrast to the richer flavors on the plate.
It was tender without being overly soft, with carrots and other vegetables adding texture and color.
Great reggae music played throughout my entire visit, adding to the atmosphere.
The portion was very generous - too much for me to finish in one sitting, so I happily took the rest home.
Next time, I’ll explore more of the menu.
By the time I left, the tables were full and there was a line to order.

I watched the waitress/server clean other people’s table and completely ignore us. Customers that were seated after us were able to order before us and receive their food. when we finally had the opportunity to order food we were told that they were out of oxtails pork and fish which made no sense because people were still ordering takeout for the same items we were trying to order.. You would think we were sitting there for free meals. The waitress told me she was going to the back to check to see what they have but when she came back she went to the bar area and started taking someone else’s orders and completely ignored us .We ended up walking out with no apology given. She Just looked at us as if she was happy to see us go because she couldn’t handle a table size of 10 people. All we were trying to do was support our Haitians. Its a shame we were treated so poorly. I suggested this restaurant to my family who drove an hour to be treated so poorly .Do not visit this restaurant”
