“We had excellent service on Canada Day 2024 with our friendly waitress Pal. She was very helpful and kept checking on our party of 12 ages from 3 to 80, to make sure everyone had what they wanted. She put treats on the Robot and had the children go get their treats off the tray on it, which was a highlight for them. We could tell she enjoys waitressing because she does it to perfection. The food was delicious and plated appetizingly, too!”

“Wonderful breakfast spot! Service was unparalleled. Every dish is carefully and masterfully crafted, with a lot of love from the chef who served us with a smile and great recommendations when we couldn’t decide. The plantains were roasted to perfection — gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside. The sassy croissant was absolutely scrumptious: perfect ratio of smoked salmon to cream cheese, lovely caramelized onions and the perfectly poached egg on top! The jerk chicken crepe was also delicious. The rose water digestive after we finished our meal was a lovely touch and the perfect way to finish off brunch. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Halifax! Skip the tourist madness for a homey meal.”

The shrimp vermicelli bowl served with fish sauce was absolutely delightful, and my husband had a dish with pork, rice, vegetables with a fried egg on top served with a sweet sauce. He loved his meal! If you're into spicy drinks, try the tamarind margarita - it has a real kick and is so good! Great restaurant - can't wait to return! :)”

Our mains were the Tuscan Atlantic Salmon and Seafood Risotto. Both were excellent and Lindsay suggested the perfect wine pairing. This was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had!”

After reading the menu and reviews, we wanted to give the Wooden Monkey a try. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. The atmosphere was lovely, comfortable and unique. The service was friendly and professional. The food was delicious and top quality. The intention and ethics of the restaurant are inspiring. Our server, Bridgid, was patient and enthusiastic, making my young kids feel welcome. My spouse enjoyed his meal and felt good afterwards. This is our new favorite restaurant (even though we live 1,000 miles away!).”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !! The Prospect Road location is going to be such a well loved location - so much so that, I don’t think the staff realized how much of the community would flock there. They’re BUSY, and out of ingredients, but the staff there were HUSTLING around, smiling and getting orders out that they could. I expect delays at the beginning. They never expected so much traffic, give them patience folks and expect a mess up in your order possibly or wait until they are fully loaded and in the flow with the area. Otherwise incredible sub (despite picking off a couple things I didn’t ask for), the bread was amazing, still 10/10 would go back, and didn’t even care it was chaotic. Inside though although small, its essentially a novelty convenience store with local goodies. They have a little bakery section with homemade stuff, the moon mist fudge was incredible and a must try! They also had a bunch of “Jones Soda” flavours that I’ve never seen before anywhere around here - even at the big candy stores, (like s’mores and the fallout edition one) which was pretty cool!! They still have ice cream and everything that was at multi scoop - just with a lot more options and delicious fresh options to go. Something for ANYONE at a really reasonable price. “Our group of 5 absolutely LOVED dinner here on a Friday night. The place was quiet and we were seated quickly, and the waitress was very pleasant. Our party ordered pork tonkatsu, bibimbap, jap chae, spring rolls, pork gyozas, and miso soup, and we managed to eat everything except a little bit of rice by the end, which was not difficult because the food was delicious. The restaurant also offers Korean bbq, and although none of us had that, I have no doubt it would be very good. The menu was extensive and also includes ramen, hotpot, bugolgi, and more. Would 100% recommend to anyone who enjoys Korean food or would like to try it out.”

“As someone who travels for work and has celiac disease I am always on the lookout for a new spot with lots of different options that are gluten free. I was absolutely tickled to find easy street diner in Halifax today while down in Nova Scotia for work. they had the most extensive gluten free menu I've ever seen. They had delicious gluten free onion rings, crispy, light, just the right amount of seasoning. they were divine. They also even had things like chicken and waffles that were gluten free!! 😲😲😲 needless to say anytime I'm working in Halifax again, I will be trying more delicious food in this cute, trendy, a la 60s Jetsons-cartoon-style diner!”

“Yesterday we had the privilege of eating at The Narrows Halofax, Nova Scotia's #1 Public House and number #12 in Canada. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere and personable host made us feel like we were home! All of the waitresses were incredible and ours went over and above to make us happy and we truly had the best time. I had the ramen with BBQ pork and my boyfriend had the rice bowl with crispy chicken. Both were excellent!! The ramen broth was so flavourful, the pork was so tender and delicious and it was such a generous portion I was full for hours. My boyfriend loved the crispy chicken rice bowl too and it was also a generous portion. So tasty, we were talking about it all day!”

I told him how many people and he gave suggestions and was the least stressful catering order I have ever placed. It arrived hot and fresh and perfectly on time. So much food we all had a second plate and still had leftovers at the end. Highly recommend Tareks for any time lunches, dinners or catering. Has to be one of the best in the city, not one complaint from my group of 15 people! He even called afterwards to check in that everything was received - absolutely amazing service! We tried the 4 course “taste of peacock” meal and shared a bottle of prosecco and it was all so delicious. Our server Georgia took great care of us and was very personable and friendly. We will come again! Note that it can be a little loud if you sit outside but that’s to be expected downtown so it wasn’t a big deal. Pictured are the miso glazed carrots which were great!”

The Atlantic salmon tartare served in mini waffle cones was creative, fresh and beautifully presented. The Nova Scotia lobster hushpuppies were exceptional, crispy, rich and perfectly balanced by the citrus aioli. For my main, I had the roast chicken with rappie pie. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the rappie pie was comforting and full of flavour. It’s still chicken at the end of the day, but this exceeded every expectation I had.

The cocktails were also outstanding: distinctive, well-balanced and made with exactly the right amount of alcohol. The biggest surprise was a complimentary bite from the chef a delicate cracker which may genuinely have been the best bite of the entire meal.

Excellent food, creative presentation and 10/10 hospitality. Drift offers a real taste of Nova Scotia rather than simply another upscale restaurant meal. Absolutely worth visiting.”

“We arrived a bit after 4pm. Waited to be seated by a friendly hostess. The service was good all did I have a bit difficulty understanding what was said. The food was very good and fast. The bourbon burger tasted good. The only thing I would like to say is that we found the restaurant very cold. We were seated next to the kitchen and we could feel a cold draft. We told the server and she said she would ask the manager. Of course we didn’t stay long enough to feel the difference so I hope for the other guests it got warmer. We thought the price for one burger with fries was a bit on the high side. But we ate there on a Wednesday night so received the second (same) meal half price.”

The chicken was incredibly tender, and the rappie pie was comforting and full of flavour. It’s still chicken at the end of the day, but this exceeded every expectation I had.

The cocktails were also outstanding: distinctive, well-balanced and made with exactly the right amount of alcohol. The biggest surprise was a complimentary bite from the chef a delicate cracker which may genuinely have been the best bite of the entire meal.

Excellent food, creative presentation and 10/10 hospitality. Drift offers a real taste of Nova Scotia rather than simply another upscale restaurant meal. Absolutely worth visiting.”
