“I ordered the mackerel set meal and thoroughly enjoyed it. The mackerel was grilled perfectly, with crispy skin and moist, flavorful meat. The rice, miso soup, and side dishes complemented the meal beautifully and made for a very satisfying dining experience. Being an owner-chef operated restaurant, the care and attention to detail were evident in every dish. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. I look forward to coming back and would highly recommend this place.”

The only area that could be improved is the service accuracy and response time. On several visits, we received something different from what we ordered, or the information provided about the specials or menu items was not fully accurate. However, in general, the staff have good behavior and the food is excellent, so we still enjoy coming here.”

“Ugly Duckling doesn't serve dinner so much as it stages a carefully choreographed argument against mediocrity. Every course in the Spring Tasting Menu felt deliberate, restrained, and confident. In a culinary world increasingly obsessed with spectacle, this menu trusted its ingredients to carry the conversation. A surprisingly rare act of courage.
The Haida Gwaii sablefish was exceptional. Rich and buttery without becoming heavy, it was lifted beautifully by the trout roe and smoke. Every element seemed calibrated to amplify the others rather than compete for attention.
The Stillmeadow Farms Tamworth pork may have been the standout course of the evening. The fermented daikon brought brightness and complexity, while the XO sauce added depth and, not in a bad way, made the pork taste like halibut.
That is a good thing! I dont know how to explain that.
Their duck sauce is kept secret. Let me be clear, if there had been no witnesses I would have licked the plate.

“We were up visiting and needed to kill a little time before check-in, so we thought we would grab a bite at the pub downstairs. The food was delicious but the service was even better. Our waitress, Kate (sp?), provided exceptional service. She was affable, attentive, and very accommodating. One member of our party has significant dietary restrictions, but Kate and the kitchen staff went above and beyond to make sure that she could was able to get her food as well.”

Originally went months ago on a Saturday afternoon but it was packed and too crowded to even be able to look around at all the unique crazy spectacular decor or to take photos since too many customers were there.

Kept seeing 5 star reviews so decided to finally go back and try the food this time.

Went on a weekday afternoon. Very quiet and relaxed this time with tons of empty tables and I was able to actually look around at everything this time.

My latte was in a huge Mug and over flowing in a good way. The server did an awesome job of bringing it to my table without spilling it since it was full to the max.

The Brisket sandwich I ordered was massive. I managed to finish most of it. Very tasty and I added the Hotwheels sauce they had on my table.

Awesome presentation and taste. Massive sandwich and they had the knife 🔪 sticking out of it.

Was definitely worth the price and I'll be coming back again to try another unique item to feast on in the future.

After my meal I was extremely full and totally stuffed but managed to look around in the cool gift/merchandise shop they have.

From when you first enter & you smell the fresh herbs to when you sit down around the table on super comfortable chairs/couches. WOW. The staff were attentive, personal and yet not in your zone too much. Helpful with advice on the food and menu. 10/10. The food was on another planet. We had three dishes in total - one appy and two mains. Cooked perfectly, extremely fresh flavours and large portions. The naan bread… just wow. Delish! Will be coming back and telling everyone about this. They deserve a line out the door.”

“Pizza was amazing, lots of pinball machines. The price was very reasonable the 4 of us spent $58 had pizza drinks and some games. $5 gets you 4-10 pinball games depending on which one you choose and a $7 slice is decent sized.”

The following morning as I came in for my coffee I was approached by one of the staff and was given a folded napkin with my name printed on it. Inside was my lost Tim card. Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.”

“This is one of Victoria's highlights. Bunny's is a hidden gem of a cafe and one of the few places to get a decent latte, flat white, or cappuccino. The food is good, but the atmosphere is cozy and community-oriented. The best way to describe Bunny's is that it's like coming back home for the first time. We're originally from Ontario, and stepping into Bunnie's, it was a quality cafe experience without any of the pretentiousness downtown. Just make sure you have some time to kill because once you get to the cafe, you won't want to leave, and they do close early.”

When they state porkbelly and you get shaved roast porkbelly that is not seasoned and because it is thinner than their bacon super chewy and distracts from the other flavours of the dish which are okay. If they rubbed it and braised the belly and cut proper thick slices for porkbelly it would do the oppisite and add to the dish 🥲.”

He even spoke Farsi with us and shared stories about his trip to our home country years ago, which made the experience feel personal and memorable. “First time at Ay MI Mexico and can't wait to go back. We ordered the cochinitas and barbacoa tacos. They were fresh, crispy and the pickled red onions were so good. We also tried the Lamb Consumme which was rich and flavourful with lots of meat and chick peas finished with lime and cilantro. Amazing, friendly staff. A perfect meal to take to the park. Excellent paired with Horritos lime soda from the convenience store.”
