The blend of flavors, textures and colors was an epicurean delight. Our waiter/bartender Damany was thoughtful, always on point without being intrusive. “This was a fabulous find. Being the Southern inspired menu, we opted for the fried green tomato appetizer, panko breaded deviled eggs were an unexpected and unusual offering that was phenomenally delicious. We also enjoyed their cajun pasta to round out the meal. We had courteous service from staff that were friendly, responsive and informative and efficient and fun. Very reasonable priced for quality and quantity of food. Highly recommend.”

“Service here was great. My waitress was attentive and provided top notch service. I couldn't ask better from her.

The atmosphere and vibe was good also. Decorated for the holidays really well. The music choice didn't fit the vibe but luckily it was so low I had to focus to hear it.

My only negative was I asked for a medium burger. See photo attached that my burger was well done. Outside of that I couldn't be happier.

After relocating here a few years back and trying many restaurants in the area this is by far the best Italian we have had in the DMV. Lucy is an amazing chef and host and their menu and specialities are some of the best we have experienced. So excited to have this as a dinner option downtown. We will be back soon!!”

“After a fantastic dinner at Barca, our group of five headed over to Casa Luna to wind down the evening — and it was the perfect choice. Although the bar was fairly busy when we arrived, Gloria made sure we were comfortable while waiting and kept us informed about the next available table. Her attentiveness set the tone for a great experience.

Once seated, Gloria quickly walked us through the menu and took our drink orders. We started with a round of espresso martinis, which were expertly crafted and a perfect way to kick off our Casa Luna visit. Our table was located near a projector showcasing scenic views from around the U.S., which added a calming, cozy vibe to the space.

Following the espresso martinis, the standout cocktail was the Lychee Martini — fresh, flavorful, and quickly a favorite among the group.

A big thank you to Gloria and the Casa Luna team for the delicious drinks and the warm, laid-back atmosphere. It was the ideal spot to end an already memorable night. We’ll definitely be back!”

The kitchen is ready and willing to accommodate any food restrictions. The staff are friendly and happy to advise on choices. The Prix Fixe menu is a great deal, but I have to remember to save room for the delicious desserts.”

“I have been a McDonald's customer from coast to coast for about 65 years. This is one of my favorite stores. However, they recently installed a self-order/pay machine which I thought slowed things down. They also serve you at your table which I though a good thing.”

“#blueandwhitecarryout an Alexandria staple patronized by the locals and visitors alike. A tiny venue but very welcoming and gave a feeling of belonging! One employee in particular by the name of Charlie was quite popular as longtime customers piled in to say hello or catch up while he prepared an array of food items to include the fried foods. Mimi wanted to try the fried chicken breast (she loves chicken) and initially I was told there was a 15 minute wait, a customer ahead of me stated it’s definitely worth the wait as he smiled. So having a free day off, I waited and I am so glad that I did! The chicken breast also has the wing attached and it’s placed piping hot between two slices of “cheap white sliced bread”. I was asked how I would like it so I responded as many others before me did: salt, pepper and hot sauce? When I say that was the most perfectly seasoned, fried and juiciest chicken breast I have ever had (5/5). They are a food stand opened early and closes early only M-F! I cannot wait to go back and try more delicacies and if you’re in the@area do yourself a favor and go! #alexandriava #carryout goodfood”

“These are my Afghans so I don’t wanna ruin their reputation. But just giving my personal review. I have been to this restaurant 3-4 times now. Previous visits was good so kept coming. But my most recent visit they got one of the orders wrong so they had to send it back. Took too long. We almost cancel that one because everyone else was almost finished with their food and the food didn’t come almost 30-40 minutes. Also, this time I found a little bit of hair and I just wanted to inform them about it and they didn’t seem to apologize or offer a new plate or anything. They just said all of our people wear head coverings when I brought up that I found hair. From then on out, I lost my appetite. I usually order the ice cream as well, but my appetite was ruined.”

“It’s heating up in the DMV, which means I’m back to my warm weather go-to: Via Volcán’s Iced Flash Brew. It’s the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day—bright, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. That, or the Espresso Tonic, and you really can’t go wrong with either. Both are made with Via Volcán’s caturra bean, brought straight from their family farm in Panama and roasted in-house right here in Old Town. The medium roast is vibrant and fresh, with fruity notes, just the right acidity, and a smooth cocoa finish. This is hands down the best coffee in Old Town. And don’t forget to head upstairs! That’s where the magic happens (you can actually see where the coffee is roasted) and where you’ll find extra seating tucked away above the buzz.”

“Our server Jayla was awesome! She was very friendly. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 p.m. weather was gorgeous outside and the outdoor patio was well covered, but we decided to sit inside. The restaurant wasn't too crowded. Jayla asked if it was our first time at Blackwall Hitch, which it was, so she went over the local favorites. She recommended the flaming crab dip and it was delicious!!! Jayla offered us extra Naan chips which I thought was generous for an upscale restaurant. I asked if she could bring us extra with a to-go box to take the rest of the dip. We also had the mahi mahi tacos and chicken-pancetta flatbread - both were great. Jayla often checked on us. The fried and grilled oysters were perfection and the raw oysters were fresh and DELISH! We stick to appetizers on this visit, after the oyster feast we moved on to the peel and eat shrimp, perfectly cooked and seasoned with Old Bay and the Mussels in the spicy broth! Do yourself a favor and get extra bread to dip in the broth, you won’t be sorry! We didn’t have them on this visit, but one of the must try’s in my opinion is the Lobster Poutine! AMAZING! The amount of lobster in this dish at the price point of under $20 is OUTRAGEOUS in the very best sense of the word! The whiskey offerings at this establishment are some of the best that I have seen. I literally discovered one of very favorite bourbons here, Jefferson’s Ocean! The selections range from your basic line up, interesting new finds and hard to get must try’s. The man behind this whiskey magic is Edward, the bartender/manager. Edward is knowledgeable and loves to talk about his offerings, so don’t be shy, ask questions and be prepared to learn a little something! We have enjoyed everything from their brunch offerings, seafood and burgers! Wine to whiskey and everything in between and have never been disappointed! We recently moved, and now have to brave 45 minutes of Beltway traffic (and that’s on a good day as we all know..lol) to get to this spot. So if you good food, attentive service and an amazing selection of whiskey are your thing, trust me when I tell you this is the place for you!”

“First time back since renovations and wow what a story this place is. It started with the chicken & waffles. The meat was really pink and hard to bite into so I decided to do french toast instead. (Minus the almond cookies.) and it was delicious but it was soft as butter so I had to request a spoon 😮 On top of that, the bartender complimented not only my neurodivergent tattoos 🏳️‍🌈♾️ but also gave me a free mocktail. Though I will warn you it’s real strong. I tasted mostly lemon but it had a hint of maple and tea. Which is ironic because strong taste is why I prefer tea over coffee (if I had to pick between the two). Regardless, these people deserve some love especially in the economic crises we have.”

“I love everything that Omar’s have to offer! I usually order online to pick up and it’s always ready on time or earlier. The platters are filled with delicious flavors. My favorite is the lamb platter and add chickpeas or corn. Pickled turnip is also great. Omar signature sauce + white sauce combo is so good I can take a bath in it!!! (JKJK) The employees are always helpful, working hard to get that fresh food out. This is our weekly dinner spot and I am lucky that they are right down the street from my house!”

“I stopped by Pitango for dessert, and it definitely hit the spot! 😋 I tried two flavors: Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips) and Fondente (dark chocolate). I don't usually eat gelato, so I was pleasantly surprised by the creaminess. The service was excellent; I wasn’t sure what to choose, but the cashier helped me by offering samples and sharing details about each flavor I tried. One of the chocolate flavors I sampled was incredibly rich and chocolatey—it's water-based and vegan-friendly, which was a first for me! The restaurant was nice, clean, and had indoor seating that could accommodate several people, but I decided to take my treat to go.”

“Rolling Sloane did an amazing job on my daughter’s mermaid birthday cake!! She did a beautiful purple, pink and blue glitter frosting with adorable sugar cookie shells around the side and a mermaid tail sugar cookie for the top. It was exactly what my daughter wanted! On top of that, the cake was so good and we all fought over the last piece! Highly recommend a cake from Rolling Sloane!”
