Lots of places make claims about freshness and local ingredients, but chef Dan Mallahan shops at the Farmers Market two days a week. It’s not a joke or a gimmick. If you want to eat food grown exclusively in Washington State, that tastes real, then Driftwood is the spot. They serve tomatoes that actually have flavor, delicious veggie dishes, and meat and fish that are tender and juicy. They combine so many flavors in a subtle harmony making each bite you take delightful. Not to mention the killer cocktails. The vibe is beautiful but chill. The staff are lovely and kind. Everything about Driftwood is real. The food, the people, even the hand towels in the bathroom. Concerned about prices at a farm-to-table restaurant and getting enough to eat? “Tried this very special “takeout only omakase sushi box”, Edomae style ( use cured/aged fish, and red vinegar seasoning in rice). The executive chef, chef Ryo, has worked in many renowned restaurant including Michelin star sushi restaurant “Sushi Sho”. Before joining this new restaurant “Ltd Edition Sushi” in capitol hill, he worked side by side with chef Nakazawa-an icon of edomae style in Japan, at both Sushi Sho Tokyo and Sushi Sho Honolulu. The sushi omakase box and kids fish bowl are both very sophisticated, the curing and aging techniques brings out the deep complex flavor of each fish and gives each fish this extra tender texture, the taste profile as such is hard to find here in Seattle. Chef sake flight ( we tried Haneya Junmai Ginjo and Hidakami Junmai today), one is floral and one on the dry side, pair with his sushi very well. Sushi is in a very elegant wooden box and everything you will need for the experience including a separate soy sauce dipping dish is prepared for the guest. This is, truly, a perfect omakase takeout experience. 💕💕😋”
“Everything was exceptional, the food, the service, the great chefs that you can see from part of the dining room. The one thing however that kept my experience from being next level, was the misplacement of the frisee on the main dish, the duck confit. Its too bitter, naturally and it's a little bit of a shock to the pallette compared with what otherwise could have been a great plate with subtly bold sauce and perfect puff pastry. I just got home and I'm still confused with why the frisee was on the plate?”

I could easily tell which was part of the teishoku 定食 or “set meal.” Support this small business because it needs us now more than ever. 01 DEC 2020.”

“I was in town for a special event, I haven't been here before and was amazed with every aspect of my experience. our server Charles was utterly fabulous. he was very knowledgeable, thoughtful and prompt. he made it feel like we were old friends. the steaks were perfectly cooked. I am 4 and 1/2 years sober, and to go out and enjoy an exquisite meal and only drink water can be a drag, but you all had an amazing selection of mocktails, my partners and I enjoyed immensely. I took the time to thank Charles for everything and got to meet Justin, letting him know how wonderful everything was. this will definitely be a regular stop anytime I visit.”

“I saw this on social media and the family wanted to try. The line was quite long like the other very popular stores at Pikes Market Place. It moves relatively quickly.
I was surprised, I thought it was going to be all presentation and lack luster on flavor. Indeed it exceeded my expectations. The food was extra creamy and dense. You can taste all the flavors. Our favorites were the Ube Coconut, Dutch Chocolate, Lemon Curd, and London Fog. This does not discredit the other flavors they are also very good. Note Blue Moon is a cotton candy flavor not a beer flavor 😂.”
“Rubys is a gem, quite literally and metaphorically, I guess. Tucked in an unassuming part of greenwood is a dog friendly, small seating, heck of a cocktail joint. Their menu and drinks change seasonally so it’s like watching all your favorite Game of Thrones character get offed. Sad, but necessary for growth and new characters. Anyways, this place is rad. Great service, great creative cocktails each quarter, and a friendly place to hang🤙🏻”
“A small cafe that specializes in non-alcoholic spirits, craft coffee, and absolutely lovely bakery and small bites. The atmosphere is welcoming and adult. Around the side by the bus bins there are a few thematic coloring books and pencils, origami instructions and paper, and freely available water. I thoroughly enjoyed myself finishing the coloring page of a Chinese herb. The food influences seem primarily German and Asian. I recommend for someone who loves food or beverage exploration, or for friends looking for someplace to feel both homey and fancy.”

Often folks want to”cheapest best,” or you’ll get one in a sit down restaurant that is beautiful but less than the sum of its parts. I really enjoy Gion because while it may cost a bit more, it’s actually a fair price until you try to finish the whole sandwich. Then you’ll find it’s a great price. But not too big to eat, fresh, thoughtfully balanced, and served warm. Best of all is the bread. The bread is so good that on the rare chance I finish my bánh mìthe next day, the bread still tastes fresher than most sandwiches.”

“Our meal at Cinque Terre was amazing. That was seriously some of the best pesto I've ever had. My husband's boar pasta had plenty of meat in the sauce. The pasta was fresh. Get two orders of the egg rolls aka Imperial Rolls — one order won’t be enough for 2 people. Start there, you’ll be very happy. Also order the pork belly on the skewers please, No regrets. It’s very good. (3) Noodle Soups. Every bowl Is a winner. Pho is great, no question there. However, you absolutely must eat the SEAFOOD with special Red Noodle. (4) Early enough during the day, drink the Viet Ice Coffee. (5) Too bad they don’t have enough staff/hands to make the BANH CUON but they make up for it in many ways. Try everything on the menu. I’m not a relative. I don’t get money or fame for recommending Lotus Pond. I just know authentic good food when I see and eat it. Try it. “Fantastic sandwiches — but be prepared to hunt for parking. We ordered the Grindhouse, a Mortadella, classic Salami, stacked with Dijon mustard, mayo, shredded iceberg, house made dill pickles, provolone, and a bright red wine vinaigrette, all on a perfectly chewy demi baguette. Every bite was balanced and delicious in a cute space. Downside for older guests is the unmanned Kiosk to order. No opportunity to ask about the sandwiches and then after ordering yourself the kiosk asks for a tip! And parking, however, was nearly impossible. We ended up in a garage that cost more than the sandwich itself. Still, the food was excellent — just go when you have patience (or a chauffeur).”

“My husband introduced me to Tai Tung shortly after we were married 60 years ago. My sons grew up eating there and much later my granddaughter did too. The food is exquisite, especially shrimp in crab sauce, the service is impeccable and the ambiance is kind of old fashioned and comfortable. In fact, Tai Tung is and always has been virtually the best restaurant in Seattle.”

I wish they were open on Mondays - that's when I have the worst craving for Khao Soi! My brother likes the tenderloin or braised beef. We've tried all of them except for goat... but that's because we are so satisfied and craving the Oxtail and the wagyu!! Also there is a very tasty deconstructed Passion Fruit pie with i think a shortbread component and a torched meringue star topping - so soooo good! You MUST try Ginger & Scallion - you won't be sorry!!! I am trying to convince them to open a location closer to the Lynnwood/Lake Forest Park area where I live/work! I'd go every day....”

The Pink Door is one of those rare places that’s somehow both trendy and timeless. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated — chic, eclectic, and a little bit artsy — and when the live music starts, it’s pure magic. We were lucky enough to be seated in the back dining room overlooking the Ferris wheel and the Salish Sea, and the view alone could’ve made the night. But then came the food — and wow. “We were back in town for the marathon last weekend. My husband went to culinary school at the Art Institute of Seattle and we have been back to visit many times. I just wanted to leave a note here about the waiter we had Sunday evening. It was the best service we have had in a long time. Several other restaurants we went to included an 18-20% gratuity to the check, and service reflected that. Cutters doesn’t. Our waiter gave good wine recommendations, was attentive, patient with our kids, and even gave us a small portion of noodles to take home and finish with the sauce that came with the mussels. We tipped accordingly, and really did appriciate the service. It seems to be a lost art. Food was great! Kids loved the mocktails. 2 course meal was delicious. It was a great place for my husband to get his seafood fix. Thank you!”

“Wonderful community cafe thats tucked away in a charming little corner of Eastlake.
5 stars because they are putting in the hard work. Locally owned, locally operated, and community focused. They put in the effort to bring people together with fun little events AND by being a coffee shop that stays open long enough to enjoy a comfy happy hour on their outside seating.
What they do well: Community.
What they struggle with (Sometimes): Espresso. I know it seems crazy to give 5 stars and then be critical of their espresso. But its just the way it is. I believe they use Lighthouse Roasters (local to seattle) and I don't know if its the roast, the beans, or the machine. But the espresso can be subpar on occasion.
But still worth the visit.”
