The special was super unique, featuring grilled peaches & prosciutto. We omitted the meat for my vegetarian husband, but next time, I’d recommend any vegetarian sub it for something salty to balance the sweetness.”

The caramelized torched top gives it a crack and nice structure. Everything was well presented. Outstanding kitchen staff attention to detail. Server was lovely - non intrusive but very attentive. The server also provided other restaurant recommendations for my stay in Portland. The setting itself is also lovely. It's intimate but quiet. Would come back - great food and experience.”

“I went to this place for me and my partners anniversary. I have never been and neither had he. The experience was top notch! I came in and the waiter said he was going to change my life and he did just that. I also had a gift card that had a generous balance and I was so impressed with the service and food that I was embarrassed to use it so I paid out of my own pocket. Best tapas in Portland hands down! My partner usually is the one who picks places because I’m bad at it and he was also incredibly impressed with me and my choice to try Urdaneta!”

“A friend who is a noted chef recommended TarTuca. When it comes to beverages, TarTuca focuses on wine but they offer several craft cocktails and effortlessly handle off menu requests. For starters we had the lamb meatballs. My chef friend raved about the focaccia so we ordered that as well.
I chose the tagliatelle because I can't resist wild boar pasta. My wife went with the radiatori.
Our evening at Tartuga was really enjoyable. We loved the vibe of the place. The music was wonderful. The staff was very supportive and great. Our cocktails were very good. We enjoyed them.
I was going to pass on the focaccia bread because it was $9, but my friend said it was amazing. So we had to try it and I'm so glad we did because it ended up being the most fun thing of the night for me.
The wife wanted to try the lamb meatballs and they were better than I expected. Pastas were really good.
The wild boar pasta was like $34. My wife's pasta was like $27. I think hers is a much better bang for the buck. In fact, if I could wave my magic wand, I'd have her pasta and just add wild boar to it.
All in all, I think TarTuca is a really good joint. Check it out.”

I also ordered food to go, and it was just as good—fresh, tasty, and packaged perfectly. It’s great to find a place that delivers a consistently excellent experience whether you dine in or take your meal with you.

“Decent food with local ingredients. Subpar to average service. I got the spiced apple waffle. The waffle was really good with a nice fluffy interior and a mellow sweetness. The apples and whipped cream were wonderful. There were chunks of flour and brown sugar in the apple which was interesting but not offputting. I wish I got more caramel on top. The downside is the service. It took about 12 minutes to get 1 waffle and the employee was only working on 1 thing at a time. Someone before me got an order of 3 drinks and I saw 1 get made about every 4 minutes. I probably wouldn't go again based on price and service but the waffle was definitely good!”

“My son and I ate dinner here on Tuesday evening, 10-01-24. The male waiter was unimpressive, and asked the young lady behind the bar to take us. I was freshly out of surgery and needed to eat something. She quickly moved us to a padded booth when I asked. She was very prompt and very courteous. An absolute sweetheart. She was professional with our orders and accommodating to our particular requests, mine especially, given the circumstances. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the rosemary chicken and a bland salad with cucumbers. The salad tasted fresh. The chicken was perfect. I would give 5 stars, but some of the other patrons seemed judgmental, and I was displeased with the young man who seemed offended by the couple of rural folks in the big city.”

“It was my first time experiencing Silk Road, and I had reasonably elevated hopes, and I was not disappointed at all. I came in shortly after they opened as a solo diner at the bar. The staff was engaging and knowledgeable and just fun to be around. The first drink I had was the special called “sour senate” and it was balanced, damn tasty and refreshing. The salt and pepper calamari was in of the more flavorful squid dishes I’ve had in a minute. I finished off with some General Tso’s chicken and a more boozy drink called “trust the next drink” which as a great finish to a day off wandering around Portland. I will absolutely be coming back soon.”

There definitely isn't as much wow factor as a place like Nodoguro, however, the chef here has a keen eye for seasonal fresh fish. I never imagined in a million years I would enjoy sardine nigiri but I still think of it months after and will return to seek more seasonal delights. The environment is quite laid-back but it isn't a bad thing. Chef isn't showy but is dedicated to his craft. Fantastic place!”

“Our first visit to No Saint and definitely not our last. Clean cool inside with just enough decor to make you feel a little fancy. A wall of wine to choose from, good music and great staff. We had olives and cherries, bread, wine, pizza and dessert. All of it felt special and intentional with a lot of thought and love in to each item. I recommend a visit. We got there right when they opened and got a table right away. They do take reservations and probably is suggested later in the evening.”

After I ordered my big Carls with a Sprite and some ranch dip to go with my combo when my order came out, he handed me the bag and said OK. Have a nice day and I’m like my sprite. After he finally gave me my sprite I leave go park somewhere to eat and there’s no ranch dressing for my fries. That kid needs to slow down, speak clearly and listen to what people are saying. I’d repeat my order to three times it’s not that difficult of an order. I almost forgot. He only gave me one napkin one and I got a double big Carls. You know how far that one napkins gonna go. You need to teach the kids how to run the drive-through”

The Bobby Bonilla beet pastrami sandwich was a many layered flavor bomb. Such a great play of textures and spices. And Mr. 350 was the best version of chilaquiles I have ever had. Better than any in Tucson. We got to sample brioche straight from the oven and are still dreaming about it. Slathered in house made vegan butter and, no shame, dunked in that truffle syrup. There Will Be Blood was a mighty fine Bloody Mary but the Pina Caliente blew my cocktail loving mind. Smokey from the mezcal, spicy and smooth as pineapple silk. Huge kudos to the mixologist!!! The atmosphere was lovely and chill and the service made us feel special. A real gem!!!!”

It’s hard to stand out as a coffee shop these days, but I think this place does. I had no expectations at first but it’s in walking distance from my place and so I’m surprised it’s such a winner. They have these perfume like bottles where you can smell sample the coffee you want before you order it. I thought that was brilliant and fun!”

“New favorite wine spot. As somebody who doesn't know a lot about wine, the opportunity to purchase some stranger and sometimes more limited items by the glass is wonderful. The menu formula encourages guests to talk with others about what they are drinking. I loved the atmosphere and the hosts, this is now without a doubt my favorite PDX wine spot.”

“LaVerne's hosted our wedding reception in their semi-private event space 'The Hall', and it was everything we could have hoped for and more! There is a little pocket door in the archway that connects the hall to the main bar area; by closing that it felt like we were in a fully separate space, even though the main bar was open for biz as usual. We had our own dedicated bar with a custom drink menu, charcuterie, jojos and a taco bar. The food was exceptionally delicious — we are vegan and they accommodated a fully vegan menu easily, and they even made us an extra spicy habanero salsa because they knew we love heat! The vibes were cozy, festive, funky and exactly what we hoped they would be.
But the real praise goes to the service and hospitality of everyone on the team. Sophie, Felix, Alysa, Kevin, Owen, and our amazing bartender (who's name I am forgetting) all made our reception feel absolutely seamless, and took incredible care of us from the very beginning of planning. They worked collaboratively with our friends and family who helped put together the event, responded to communications promptly, and their catering costs were incredibly reasonable.
I can't say enough good things. We will always cherish this bar and I am so grateful to them. Book them for your private event !!!”
