“Just completed a tour of the Central Texas Barbecue Scene. Visited Snow's BBQ-Lexington, Louie Mueller-Taylor, Kreus Market, Smitty's and Black's-Lockhart, The Salt Lick- Driftwood and Franklin's in Austin. It was great seeing the venues and the family history at these historic sites. I visited Franklin's in the past and felt it was the best brisket I had ever eaten in my life. I am a skeptic when it comes to famous barbecue joints. I must say that Franklin's BBQ was far superior to all of the restaurants I visited with no one even a close second. Aaron's attention to detail from the service, choice of briskets, the cook, the wrap, the holding and even the slicing of the final product is evident in every aspect of his trade. I was lucky enough to run into him at the restaurant and he happily talked BBQ with me. Franklin's may not have the long history of muti-generational BBQ in Central Texas, but he has figured it all out at a level that I have yet to see equaled by the best venues in the country. This is a bucket list restaurant for those who really enjoy BBQ. It is well worth the wait in line”

“Exceptional omakase. One of my favorite restaurants in Austin. The chef is extremely personable and kind. Made me feel incredible comfortable throughout the whole experience. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The food itself was absolutely delicious. Every single nigiri was exceptional, with wonderful rice texture. The fish itself was always excellent quality and the sauces lightly coated on each fish were excellently paired with the flavor profile of the fish itself. Drinks: I did the sake pairing which had two options, a standard pairing for $80 iirc, and prestige pairing for $100. I did the pairing for $100. It was outstanding. My friend opted to do the prestige wine pairing ($110); she thoroughly enjoyed that pairing, as well. After the 22 courses, we went back the bar/lounge area and opted to finish our night with a glass of or Born Gold sake. The service team was incredible throughout the meal. Their presence was very low-key, but they were informative and really kind. Will absolutely be returning in the future.”

“I swung by Terry Black’s this morning to pick up a big order of barbecue to take to friends in California, because they need to know what the very best barbecue in Texas tastes like. ❤️⁣ ⁣ Chad, Sharon, and Kait were so helpful behind the counter, making sure everything was wrapped perfectly for a travel cooler and ready to survive a flight, complete with reheating instructions for when it arrived.⁣ ⁣ What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. They took the time to visit with me, answered all of my questions, and made the whole experience feel personal instead of rushed. We ended up having some great conversations, and they even let us sample a few things before we decided exactly what to order.⁣ ⁣ The food is phenomenal, but the people are what make you want to come back. Texas barbecue is about more than brisket, it’s about generosity and making people feel welcome, and this team absolutely nailed it. “This is not necessarily the best Sushi that you can get in Austin. When you're coming here, you're booking for the 45-minute omakase experience. Mind you it is definitely an experience and that does come with a price tag. The place is very cozy and you are sitting at a bar like structure with a sushi chef at the center and a drinks/sake guide.

We immediately went in and started to get our nigiri pieces of fish. Each time the chef put a new nigiri on our plate, he explained every single detail that went into making that particular piece of the nigiri. I would definitely say that the additions to the fish really was thought out on all of the flavors to compliment that particular fish.

This is definitely an experience because instead of just getting a piece of fish you're getting something very creative. In fact, I would say perhaps something you might not be able to get at other sushi places. We started out and the sushi was pretty good, but as we continued through the courses each piece got better and better. The A5 wagyu Sushi piece was mind-blowing and also the uni was so buttery and did not taste bitter which I give all of the compliments to the sushi chef. As the sauce and pairing of what was in the sushi must have really brought out the flavor.

My favorite pieces were the A5 Wagyu, the Ebi, toro, and Uni.

I got the sake flight and it was a very good pairing with all of the different sushi pieces. I do wish that I had maybe three to four more pieces of sushi, but maybe that is just wishful thinking because everything was so good. If you haven't been to Omakase in Austin, I would definitely give this a try.

I did happen to go the place next door that served hand rolls and got a spicy tuna and salmon. I'm definitely going to try to hit this place up for lunch one day and gorge myself in hand rolls. You can definitely tell that the fish was fresh.”

“I first tried T-Loc’s in 2015, when I was in my final semester at TXST, and an apprentice to a business in ATX. My mentor brought me to T-Loc’s after a tough week and since, it’s become one of my favorites! I’d never had a Sonoran hotdog or anything like it and couldn’t believe I’d been missing out! The food is ALWAYS fresh, delicious and consistent. I love this place so much that I hired T-Loc’s to cater a private, professional event in October 2024 and I don’t have enough positive things to say. Miguel and his team are incredibly professional, timely and efficient. This was my first event to plan and execute all on my own and naturally, when last minute obstacles popped up, Miguel stepped in and he quite literally saved the day. I’m so grateful for this amazing team and all they did for me to ensure the event was a success, means the world. As long as I’m breathing, anytime I’m in ATX, a T-Loc’s trip is on the docket!”

“INCREDIBLE. The baristas are ACTUALLY knowledgeable about coffee. It’s a true coffee spot with attentively to origin, roast, extraction.

I’m always worried about ordering lattes with sweetener bc they can be so overly sweet, but the miso brown butter latte with oat milk was perfectly balanced. It had a hint of sweet without sweetness being The Flavor of the drink.

“My wife and I visited last Wednesday on our vacation from Minnesota. The brisket was great, the barbacoa was the best I've ever had anywhere. The onion rings were amazing and I don't personally care for onion rings. The jalapeno cheese chorizo was outstanding. As good as all those were the beef ribs were the best most perfect bite of food I've ever had... But what really stood out is the amazing staff from Evan greeting us as we walked in the door to everyone that we met so helpful kind and cheerful! Having worked in the service industry for most of my life it's always a joy to be treated so well!”

Today was my first time in and I really enjoyed myself. I had the menu thoroughly explained to me upon arrival, I got chicken skins, the special of the day which is a chicken version of their dry noodle dish on the main menu and a mango slushee. Let me tell you the Mango slushee is an absolute must as soon as you walk in (Trust me!!) I am a spicy guy, and it's says spicy on the menu, but it wasn't so I also added the pepper spice on the side and that helped. I used about 90% of it. Go and check it out!”

“We love to eat, and love food. Simply put, our anniversary dinner at Ember was absolutely a Top 3 dining experience in our 26 years of marriage! The only thing that topped it was a one-off dinner at The James Beard House we were lucky enough to be a part of...and that is saying a LOT to just barely be runner-up to that! Not only was the food simply incredible (we had filet skewers, the seafood plate, and the mole pork chop...with roasted carrots and the potatoes as sides, and the flan for dessert) but it was the best service we've ever received. Not just from our server but the entire staff from chefs to managers to bartenders. Not only do you get an incredibly attentive server, the entire restaurant staff seems attentive to your needs. To go deeper on what makes Ember so special, they cook nearly everything in a Mesquite coal Josper oven which is unique to ATX. It gives a distinct smoke to everything, but in no way overpowering. The culinary team at Ember then highlights the Josper with both incredibly complex dishes (pork chop with handmade mole that is as deep, rich, complex, and paired with sweetness via a sweet potato with honey drizzle and brightness of fresh citrus and absolute umami bombs via picked / brined tomatoes) and the most "simple" of dishes (crispy roasted yukon and red bliss potatoes with garlic, shallot, tossed in tallow...simply amazing and must have) everything is constructed and executed perfectly. Whether a special occasion or just a random Wednesday, this is one of the best restaurant experiences anywhere. Huge thanks to the staff at Ember for making our special night super memorable.”

“Food is not worth the price. drinks are small and weak and overpriced. 2/7 Saturday 1pm brunch they were cleaning something at the bar that smelled DISGUSTING like sewage. loud shop vac. for $60 i got 3 boring pancakes, a side of lazy home fries, ans 2 very weak drinks at $15 each!!!! NO ambience mid service (saw waitress maybe 2x she disappeared often. Wtf did i pay for?? food was NO BETTER than Dennys or IHOP I promise you!!! $22 for 3 paper thin pancakes is crazy. I don't get to do brunch often. I want my money back. this sucked and I HIGHLY don't recommend it. no atmosphere. why would yall do that work at 1pm on a Saturday??? TRULY smelled like sewage. never coming back seriously don't go. no wonder we walked in with no reservation. I think they have fake reviews too.”

Our waitress was perfect. We weren’t rushed, which was huge! Band playing on the patio were great! We will be back. Our only regret was not getting the tomahawk lol we are still talking about it. “Had an amazing experience for our Wedding Anniversary. We had a 9pm reservation. Since our bar reservation wasn’t immediately available, they offered us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Then the wait staff offered us another option upstairs since it would be available prior to our bar reservation (which was preferred but not initially available when I made the reservation). Our waiter Forrest was Amazing and explained everything very well. The drinks, bruschetta with prime steak trimmings, main course (NY Strip w/bone), tagliolini w/fresh blue crab, gem Caesar salad, Tiramisu and Gelati (salted caramel) were all AMAZING. Had a memorable moment with my wife and greatly was appreciated! Also the staff had a signed Happy Anniversary Card at the table upon our arrival.”

“Truluck’s has truly mastered the art of creating an elevated dining experience. It’s not just the quality of the food, it was the attention to every little detail throughout the entire dinner.
From offering different choices of water with accompanying citrus, to the lavender hand towels after enjoying the crab, to the candle warmers that keep the butter at the perfect temperature for your seafood, every course had thoughtful touches that made the experience feel special. Those details really cemented Truluck’s as my favorite seafood restaurant I’ve visited so far.
Our server, Kyle, was also exceptional. He was extremely professional and had extensive knowledge of the menu, taking the time to walk us through the details of each dish and making sure we were taken care of through every phase of dinner.
The food itself was delicious, but it was the combination of the food, service, presentation, and attention to detail that made the evening so memorable. Certainly a fantastic experience from beginning to end, and a restaurant I’m looking forward to visiting again.

P.S. The fact we had birthday card with the signatures of the staff waiting for us at the table when we arrived is a remarkable touch of service.”

“Went for the first time on a Friday morning. Definitely won’t be the last time. The migas in green sauce had a great flavor, flour tortillas were fresh, my friends’ huevos rancheros were on point. On top the cinnamon roll -huge size, looks like a cake- was delicious. Service was great. Lately I’ve been feeling everything in Austin tastes the same, can’t wait to go back to this great spot!”

“The staff was super friendly at this cute outdoor coffee trailer. They tout their direct relationships with coffee farmers in Colombia and offer a creative menu. I usually drink my coffee black or as a cortado and they offer multiple “black coffee” options. I went with the signature drink the Desnudo which is a shaken espresso over ice and it was delicious. Creamy, velvety, and brought through some great fruity and brighter notes as it settled. Very refreshing iced coffee, would definitely get it again!”

“I'm not going to tell you how many times I've eaten at Small's, I'm just going to tell you that I don't live anywhere near the place and every time I get into my car at dinner time, I automatically drive in its direction.

Simply the best pizza I've ever had. Every time. Many, many times. The plain cheese with garlic is my go-to. Not too much sauce, not too much cheese, thin-ish sourdough crust that tastes nourishing vs heavy. The Vodka Pie is a savory delight and always a winner, and, if you're eating meat, the sausage and peppers is fire. Also the staff are super chill and funny and excited about the pizza. Don't sleep on the rotating flavors, the sweet corn one over the summer blew me away! Also their ranch is perfect. 10/10”

Portion sizes are large and most menu items are still good leftover. The only downside is that there is hardly any parking, but if you go on a Sunday, street parking is free.”
