Abilene Residents Will See Array Of New Restaurants Opening Soon

Abilene, TX residents have more places to go when they're hungry. Eight new restaurants are opening in the area during the next several months.

One such restaurant is Luigi's Burgers and Subs, which will be located in the Frenchman's Creek Shopping Center. The restaurant, which sports a half-pound burger, had its grand opening within the last month.

Restaurant owner Luigi Tetaj said they do the half-pound burgers themselves, along with the homemade pickles and buns. Employees also hand cut the fries and make fresh buns every morning.

Tetaj said his mother baked for 45 years, which is where he learned the trade.

He said loyal customers have come back to try more items on the menu. For instance, Casey McDermott said she tried the Philly cheesesteak the first time and came back to try the burger.

For Abilene residents who want some spice, the Sam's Southern Eatery is the place to go. It's a Cajun-style restaurant with a reputation for serving the best seafood in town. One local - Royce Clark - said it's got a bit of everything and, so far, every bit of it is good. Clark said he used to live in Louisiana and the food at Sam's Southern Eatery reminds him of that food.

Other restaurants that will open their doors include Golden Chopsticks, Raising Canes, Chipotle, Potter's Pizza and Nicky G's.
