The view and service are great, but it's noisy as there isn't much to absorb the sound. We ordered focaccia, roasted peppers and pasta. Everything is great and super fresh.”

Sogno Toscano Market & Wine Bar 17 Perry St, New York Wine Bar • $$

“My wife and I went to the Grove in Los Angeles last night and we had dinner at "Sogno Toscana," an it was outstanding. It was perfect in every way; great food, great drinks, outstanding and friendly staff, beautiful location, etc. I love Italian food but I can't think of one Italian restaurant that I like, until "Sogno Toscano." The food was outstanding, and there was so much more we saw go by that we can't wait to go back and try. And the drinks were outstanding. I love martini's and they served the best martini I've ever had. Giacomo was our server and took great care of us. He's from Italy and "Sogno Toscana" brought him to America when they opened their New York restaurant, and now he's in LA for this new restaurant. Although very busy, the entire staff were very fun to be around, and most of them are Italian which is also great.”

Had no issues getting a spot right at the bar and woman behind the taps was not only funny, but very helpful and attentive and is really the reason I liked the place so much! The place has great drink specials for happy hour, and besides the price they are also well made. Didn't get the chance to try the food, but I sure was tempted with everyone ordering around us what seemed like really some good classic pub food. If I'm ever around the area, I'm definitely inclined to come back and try more.”

“This spot is an absolute gem. Bob’s Bar nails it across the board: good vibes, even better food, and the kind of staff that makes you feel like you’ve been coming there for years (even if it’s your first time).

The space is bright and stylish with that perfect mix of cozy and cool. Black and white tile floors, huge windows, and a bar that actually makes you want to sit and stay a while. Whether you’re kicking off the night with friends or winding down solo, the atmosphere hits just right.

Drinks? On point. Food? Comfort classics with real flavor. The wings are a must. And don’t sleep on happy hour , it’s the kind of deal that makes you double check the bill.

Moreover, there’s always something happening , karaoke, trivia, or just people enjoying life. It’s got that laid-back energy but still feels alive. Makes sense why people keep coming back.

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a place that delivers fun, flavor, and a warm welcome, Bob’s Bar is it.”

“The food was really good. All of it was made well and for the most part amazing service. My only issue was the white hostess told us there were no tables and seated us right by the door completely cramped. Asking another waiter he was able to move us and said we need to be done at 8 as the table was reserved. This was at 6, showing the hostess just did not seat us well and communicate properly. If seated there we were ready to leave, but because the other staff were competent, we stayed and enjoyed good food. My other issue is as the tables are small we could only eat one plate at a time. Otherwise, it was very good! I just wish the hostess did not ruin the experience from the get go, with her incompetence.”

I got the salmon for my entree which was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. SEOUL SALON NYC 28 W 33rd St, New York Korean • $$$

“Seoul Salon is such a trendy and aesthetic restaurant and the food didn't disappoint. I'd definitely recommend making reservations because it was all packed for a Thursday dinner. To start the meal, they give this crispy ramen cracker snack with a hot sauce drizzled on top and it was so nostalgic to the snacks I used to eat when I was younger. The whole menu looked so delicious, but I ended up trying the Soy Scallop with Gim Rice, Rose Tteokbokki with Gimmari, and the Seoul Salon Fried Chicken. The soy scallops were fresh and full of flavor. The Gim rice paired perfectly with the scallops as well. The Rose tteokbokki reminded me of eating a margherita pizza because of the cheese and basil toppings with the sauce. Iloved the Gimmari that came with the dish; it was nicely fried and dipping it into the sauce was perfection. The fried chicken took me by surprise. The batter was so crispy and airy and the chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The sauce had a good spice kick and it was only drizzled lightly on half of the chicken, so none of the chicken got soggy and it's great for people who can't handle the spice. Overall had a great experience at Seoul Salon. I would come back again and again.”

“Here's the review Spencer wrote for you: My family and I just visited to celebrate my grandsons birthday- we like to get a bunch of plates and share family style and this menu was perfect for that. You have to get mezze and extra bread (must try the kubane). We also ended up getting three orders of the shishbarak for the six of us, it is way too good! I got the salmon for my entree which was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. Spencer our server recommended the silan and the cheesecake for dessert so we shared those and boy were they something special- I can’t pick a favorite! He brought us a candle and we got some great pictures. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.”

Lastly, we split the burger and the kale Caesar. They were nothing to write home about but good nonetheless. I loved the vibe in this place it was cozy and intimate. I will say my only complaint is we felt a little rush towards the end and that surprised us since the place was no where near closing nor was it busy.”

“Absolutely loved Forsythia for a date night!

Gorgeously designed menu.

Great service - attentive, knowledgeable and kind. The focaccia is delicious - recommend the honey butter, olive oil & ricotta to accompany. We split the beet salad and arancini - only call out was the prosciutto on the beet salad was “fried / crispy” vs fresh. For pastas we ordered the lasagna which is a MUST order - perfectly crisp, and the agnolotti short rib pasta. I did not love the agnolotti - would try a different pasta next time. For dessert we had the stracciatella gelato - so yummy and perfect palate cleanser. Must order.

The vibe of the restaurant was so cute - brick walls, intimate, warm, inviting. Even the candle in the bathroom smelled like a wood cabin campfire - invoking a comforting, home-like atmosphere.”

“Yingtao offers an elevated dining experience, honoring the owner’s grandmother with both its name and the thoughtful approach to each dish. The restaurant’s sleek, modern interior and open kitchen immediately impress upon entry. The tasting menu is a carefully curated array of dishes with refined flavors, with the duck, toast, foie gras, and nian gao standing out as memorable highlights. The flavors here are subtly layered and delicate, showcasing a restrained elegance that even extends to the desserts, which are perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Service at Yingtao is exceptional, among the best I’ve encountered. Claud 90 E 10th St Ground Floor, New York Wine Bar • $$$$

“Have been here twice with my family. Some great variety and flavors to explore here. The simple yet diverse menu made it a perfect experience to try multiple dishes for decent prices for each dish.

Personally, the Chicken Liver Agnolotti is a highlight on the menu. Very rich, creamy liver inside the pasta with a delightful sauce. The portion/pasta size is a bit small, but packs so much flavor, so I definitely recommend it! If you want to share, you might want to get 2, or choose more options in addition.

The Dover Sole was incredible as well! A little pricey, however, the fish was excellently cooked and seasoned, and the citrusy sauce complimented it very well. I appreciated that I received a thick filet portion of fish. As it is only the fish on the menu without sides; the optional sides of Potatoes and Broccoli & Peppers are fairly basic preparation, but add simple starch and veggie pairing with the fish if desired.

What I appreciated during my time there was the attention to detail by the staff. Very considerate and attentive and our waitress was very helpful in offering recommendations and answering questions I had.

The open kitchen makes it a very unique and intimate atmosphere. It is quite dim in there, so it does become harder to navigate the menu if eyesight is an issue. However, I will definitely be back and experience what more there is to offer here!”

Spicy Village 68 Forsyth St B, New York Chinese • $

“Spicy Village was a wonderful place to have a Christmas meal! Actually, I'd like to rename it "Spicy Cozy Village" if a spicy environment can also be cozy! To start with, they were very gracious by accepting a reservation for 8 people at 6:00. Then they came outside and took our order even before we sat down and so the food was nearly ready by the time we had taken our coats off! The festivities kicked off with a plate of crispy peanuts, which ended up being the chosen appetizer, main course, and dessert for the little guy in our party. We then progressed to delicious dumplings, sesame chicken, spicy lamb huimei, and other delectable specialties! What was so amazing about the experience is that despite packing lots of people into a relatively small square foot area, it did not feel claustrophobic at all; rather it was comfortable and cozy, like sitting at a big table for a family meal at your house (even if it was take-out!!). Overall, Spicy Village was a terrific place for Christmas dinner - and I'm strongly considering coming back here for the 8 days of Hanukkah too!”

“Had to swing by the new Boucherie and see what this new addition was bringing to the Chicago scene. My visit on a Sunday at 7:30pm was way different than my visit on a Thursday night at 8:30pm. Sunday was calm, spacious with a very moderate noise level but Thursday night was oddly the complete opposite - it was loud, busy and had much less space! 😂 I’d definitely say be cognizant of that when you go; the vibes can vary. The drinks were good - my favorite was “La vie en rose” and the French martini was tasty as well. Loved the escargots and the garlic butter sauce they were drowned in! I also had the saumon roti and that choron sauce on top was delish! I wasn’t a fan of the Paris-Brest for dessert, but the crème brûlée was good! The interior is so beautiful! 😍 Stop by for a visit and see how you like this new Chicago restaurant! Ask for Manuel to be your waiter - he was the best!!!”

“Loved every dish- fluke with black tea, mint and peach(who knew raw fish and fruit went so well together?), amazing grilled artichokes and grilled eggplant. Barely touched my pasta with preserved lemon because I was full, but it was delicious. My daughter’s burger was iconic. The Platonic ideal of hamburgers. Coffee was also delicious. If we had not made a plan to go to La Cabral for dessert and more coffee, I am sure dessert would have been equally excellent.Service was excellent and our waitress was knowledgeable and interested in the food. The fluke reminded me of the first time I went to USC in 1988. I had a plate with raw marinated tuna, raw salmon and raw scallops. The little heaps of fish were so pretty on the plate with their contrasting colors.”

“abcV - (address 38 E 19th St, New York, NYC) phone: 212-475-5829 abcV is a phenomenal restaurant. The food was mouthwatering, brilliantly crafted, and delightfully health-giving. Having dined at some of the finest restaurants around the world, we find that this spot rivals, and in many cases surpasses, all others. Our most recent visit was a mid-morning couple’s dining stop—our answer to a calling to bring pure health and exquisite taste into our bodies and souls. abcV was the perfect answer. We indulged in the unique “Pollen” smoothie (pollen, jungle peanut butter, dates, banana, almond milk, Himalayan salt). I can’t emphasize enough how delicious this chilled and creamy culinary delight was! Served elegantly in a cabernet-style wine glass, I could immediately feel my cells rejuvenate with this healthy creation. The warm vegan croissant was also lovely, with just the right amount of flakiness, perfectly paired with homemade apple butter—yum! Another ‘must-have’ highlight was abcV’s take on Avocado Toast, enhanced with Virgin Coconut & Argan Oils, Crunchy Seeds, Cumin, Sprouts, and shaved carrots. Wow! Thank you, abcV! We can’t wait to return!”

“Ended up here accidentally on a layover: Hands down, the best ramen I’ve ever had (springy, slurpy perfection), amazing cocktails (if you like gin the Japanese 75 is a must try!), and whatever the whipped cream, creme brûlée’d banana dessert was tasted like heaven. I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. They separated all of it, packaged it so it wouldn’t leak, and wrote directions on specific timing for heating up each item! Very impressive service. I’ll be back again!”

Piccola Cucina Estiatorio 75 Thompson St, New York Sicilian • $$

“Too bad there aren’t more stars to click on. As a Sicilian/Italian every time I go to an Italian restaurant I have to always settle for the close enough. Not this time at Piccola Cucina Estiatorio, 71 Thompson Street NYC. After seeing their extremely authentic Sicilian menu online I knew that it had to be the real thing. After easily reserving a table online we showed up with yes our hopes being very high. For the first time the food was everything I had hoped for. 1. Arancini: nicely crunchy and flavored. Not oily or old at all. 2. Grilled veggies: although simply presented they were really tasty and fresh. 3. Involtini: out of this world. Exactly made like in my town in Sicily. A Moist, tender, flavored with some really tasty mozzarella cheese, served on a nice bed of caponata. 4. Maccheroni alla Norma: finally my very favorite dish. I almost cried. Besides a fantastic pasta, rigorously cooked al dente, there was a more than generous amount of diced eggplant, obviously, with basil leaves, olive oil and everything the Mediterranean has so generously given to Sicily for thousands of years. It’s worth mentioning the more than welcome grated “ricotta salata” as a testimony to the high attention to detail of Chef Gioele. That was a dinner I will not easily forget. The last thing I want to say is that, according to the highly professional and attentive staff, almost every single ingredient in this restaurant is flown directly from Sicily including the very tasty cannoli filled with ricotta cheese. (The cheese flies frozen during shipping). Sorry for the long review. I only wanted to show my super happiness with this restaurant. ANGELO.”

Chicken Tikka Masala on the menu is called (Madame Makhani), so you won’t want to miss that. The Don’s Lamb Chops, Rogan Josh, some rice and the Coconut Naan will complete your order and leave you amazed. Desert selections are also in code the menu, but the Cardamom Culfi (Handcuff) is a sort of ice cream the pairs excellently with the Gulab Jamun which is called (Masquerade Ball).
